Sucks
Since when do you have to pay to read on Wattpad I don’t like it take it back to what it used to be
WHAT’S THE POINT OF THERE BEING “EROTICA” IN SUB GENRES?
I’ve never have a problem with Wattpad, I recently found erotica as a sub genre in the of the romance genre, I searched “Would the romance subgenre ‘Erotica’ be a good idea” as my story is just for adults, I will simplify what Safari said “Using the subgenre ‘erotica’ can be highly risky for this specific story (It’s an adult fanfic of DC, it includes an OC & Larfleeze the Orange Lantern). If the story has this subgenre, it will likely be flagged & deleted by the Wattpad moderation team, even if ‘mature’ rating is active. Wattpad updated its content guidelines to heavily crack down on erotica. Their strict policy states that content cannot be published if the primary purpose of the story is sexual arousal or graphic descriptions of sexual anatomy. If your story gets categorized as Erotica, their automated systems will immediately target it.”. I then asked “Why did they add ‘erotica’ as an option then?” Safari answered with, “Wattpad added the ‘Erotica’ subgenre tag to create a clear, structured system for organizing stories and filtering what underage users can see. By selecting it, Wattpad's system automatically flags the book as ‘Mature’ to block minors from reading it. However, using it is a massive trap for authors due to a direct contradiction in Wattpad's platform management.”. Then I typed “It sounds pretty pointless for ‘erotica’ to be an option them.”
Very disappointed
The new rules have wiped out all the books I usually read as a user of years I’m disappointed and have to find a new app when I search certain genre’s I get different language books this app is not the same at all
The ads have to stop
I’ve been using Wattpad for years and you guys have never had advertisements and now in the past couple recent years, you guys have had advertisement and they’ve gotten so out of control to the point where I cannot scroll or go to the next chapter without being hit with an advertisement. It’s like the number of ads I come across within a day seems to increase and I’m getting really really really really tired of it.
Pretty fun
There's more ads now but most of them are just ones you can skip past or they're really short, like 5 seconds. Stories are super fun to read.
censorship and ads... bleugh
who knew home base would become a total corporate wreck? bring back freedom and speech and genuine enjoyment for reading
It’s a good app to many bugs
It makes me watch multiple ads when I just trying to go to the next chapter
Too many ads
Had this app for yearsss on and off again but every time I redownload it, there are wayyy to many ads. You can’t even skip it anymore which sucks so much. They made it where there is no way to get rid of them unless you pay them which sucks a lot.
Ads
The ads have gotten worse on this app. After every single chapter it’s an ads but the app doesn’t send send you directly to the next chapter making you watch 2 ads back to back. Very sad

ADS HAVE GOT TO GO READ ON AO3 INSTEAD
Okay so I know it’s how they are funded but omg I’ve been reading on wattpad for over 6 years and now there’s so many ads I can’t read properly because I got 3 ads in a row just trying to go to a new chapter books that would’ve taken me 1 hour are now taking me 3 hours and it sucks I will no longer be reading on this app do better also everyone go to AO3 it’s so much better and there’s no adds
why
the removed smut.. why its literally why we have the app!!
Ads ads ads
I used to use this app religiously but now it’s completely ads. There are ads after every chapter and it’s unbearable.
New update???
NO MORE FREAKK💔💔💔 You had a good run🫶🥺
Language
I think this is an amazing app, but I kind of wish we had like a language translator on there so when we wanna read something, we can switch to the language to the language that we can talk like English, Spanish, Creole, Japanese, Chinese, any of that we can just switch one of them on and we can just read it in the language that we understand
STOP THE ADS
This new updated version with EXCESSIVE ads is truly steering me away after years of use. IT NEEDS TO END.
STOP W THE ADS
THE ADS HAVE GOT TO STOP! ITS TOO MUCH AND EXCESSIVE LIKE AN ANNOYING LITTLE SIBLING! STOP
Long Time User
I have used Wattpad for over five years (probably more) and used to love the variety and accessibility of the app. However they don’t update to keep up with other apps, charge extremely high to avoid the excessive ads they implement on every episode. Lost me as a user…
No more
I’ve had this app for six years now at first it was amazing but then after that, it was all a bunch of ads and now it feels like I can’t even find a decent story

Good but glitchy
Every time I enter the comments on a story it sends me back to the first chapter…!!

The expression date is annoying
Horrible now
I’ve had it for more than a decade and it used to be a great place to read and connect with authors. Now it’s just straight ads. Every. Single. Chapter. Has ads. The bottom of the chapter has ads moving as you’re reading. I read on tumblr more nowadays just because it’s that bad.
Redirecting
The app is great but it keeps on taking me to shein even though I haven’t clicked on the pop up
So many ads it’s actually crazy
There’s so many ads on this app it’s not even funny what happened to this app💔

fall off
i used wattpad during its prime from 2017-2019, and using it today, i can tell it’s fallen off from the pedestal i once held it so high on. the insane amounts of ads, bs premium prices, and less overall happiness. it’s so unorganized now and fails to reach the peaks of fan fiction and community it once had.
Somethings wrong
I’ve been using Wattpad for years but for the last couple of weeks I’m unable to see the notifications of new chapters or the authors post nor the home page. It just keeps buffering.
Censorship
Joined in like 2014, was great. Then they put adds after every chapter. You had to pay to do certain things. Their app became unusable. Then with the new censorship all these kids coming to a good fanfiction website AO3 and they’re ruining it as like retaliation against Wattpad. Downfall is truly disappointing. I really did love this app.
Loading
My books say they are still syncing. I know my internet connection is fine. What’s going on with the app. Fix the bugs!
Comments
It’s not letting me scroll on the comments section pls fix this
Ugh
Okay, so I’ve had this app for five years, and it’s super buggy and awful. First of all, it crashes on me all the time. Secondly, it doesn’t keep you signed in like other social media apps. Your session will end, and you have to log back in again, which is annoying. Thirdly, the ads are intrusive and slow. Oh, and whenever I’m typing the description of a story, it will randomly interrupt me by forcing the keyboard down. Honestly, if you want a good fanfic site, just go to A03 at this point.
Not loading
I have been using this for years and this has never happened before. It just keeps loading and I can read stories I have read before my the search and home page doesn’t work it just has a loading symbol. Also I have Internet connection that works because everything else I try and do works and it doesn’t work on my iPad either. Please may someone try and sort this out xx
Thrift store of book apps
There are honestly way too many ads. Every new button you click there’s an ad. Authors post their books for free on here and Wattpad wants to charge “premium” just to read. The amount of ads make me want to read on this app less and less. I’d rather pay an author for a full book then pay to not have to watch ads
3 stars
to be honest, its good. for writing, the format is easy to understand except it sometimes doesn’t allow to underline/italicise/bolden words with a font even though when you read a story with that font, words are underlined/italicised/bold. for reading, there’s this one issue where when you check on the comments, you cant scroll down. this is so annoying, especially as reading the comments are one of the best parts of wattpad. please fix these issues!
i love this app but ..
i’ve had this app for a long time and i love the books and stuff but why would yall remove smut when its the main reason some people use this app.? that doesn’t make any sense but nonetheless i still love this app and will continue to do so.
these trashy updates and ads
these excessive ads got to stop, no jimmy, i don’t need no tennis racket. get off my damn screen.
Stickers
I've been using Wattpad for quite a while now, and it's become one of my favourite reading apps. The more I use it, the more I enjoy it. One of the best features, in my opinion, is the comment section. Being able to react to specific lines and see other readers' thoughts makes every story feel more interactive, fun, and relatable. I do have one suggestion that I think could make the experience even better: adding stickers or reaction stickers to comments. Sometimes words alone don't fully capture how we're feeling when we read an emotional, funny, shocking, or romantic moment. Stickers, similar to the way they're used on TikTok, would allow readers to express their reactions more naturally and make interactions feel even more engaging. I think this small addition could make the community feel even more connected and bring an extra layer of personality to the reading experience. Thank you for creating such an amazing platform, and I hope you'll consider this suggestion!
Drafts have gone.
I have been writing a story on Wattpad right? And i come onto it today to look at my drafts, its all deleted. And i notice two of my published chapters are gone too. And its been glitching and not working well at all since this morning. Please fix this. I worked hard on those chapters and i can only find them again when i go onto Wattpad via link. And it doesn’t fix anything on the app either.
Buggy
While i do miss the old interface from last year, the new one isn’t terrible - and the ads do suck, you just have to do offline mode (although two slots while the rest are behind a paywall is mad.) Main issues are bugs and laggyness. Most bits work fine unless you open the library, as it takes a while to open and then makes the rest of the app lag or freeze for a few minutes. - The scrolling on books is intermittent sometimes you have to have your thumb a certain angle for it to register (only happens on the books not other sections or apps on my phone) Also i’ve been reading the last week or so since i updated, and randomly my page will just go blank and i have to open the story again or reopen the app - inconvenient. Wish there was a way, like ao3, to filter the tags you don’t want as well as do want. Not just mature tags, just normal ones or characters etc. _Dislike_ the new feed page where notifications was. i understand the premise of it being there is cool, but why make it the main page instead of notifications - just want to open new chapters not see what everyone’s posting.
Love!!! Recommend
So I downloaded this game as a recommendation, made my first two books (my own series called World of Dogs and it is very good, I recommend it to one of my friends and she downloaded it, we both love it!!! If you love reading and creating your own books, this is a must
ads
wattpad used to have an add after every 3 chapters, now if youd like that you have to watch a minute long add to just get 3 chapters ad-free. after each chapter is ad, after ad, its causes the app to become unenjoyable. i dont know how many times ive heard ppl say they’re switching to Ao3 and im starting to understand the switch up. your making your own company fall. do better
Ads
I love wattpad, been using it fore years for both reading and writing, but the ads are too much sh, I had a way to bypass them, but someone revealed how to, there is ads every chapter, it is annoying, and it is ruining reading, it was fine to have an ad every 5 chapters, but now it is too much, it is affecting reading, that people are avoiding it in a way because there are too many ads, please sort out the ad issue
STOP THE ADS
wattpad used to be one of the best places to read fics from any fandom but then you got over taken by greed and started to add too many ads between chapters, I miss the time I was able to read a full fic no ads between chapters. there was no paid books and no subscriptions to remove the ads. Even if you’ve increased your revenue you’ve upset life long users of your apps. it’s hard to find the things I want to read anymore and sitting through 10 or more minutes of accumulating ads is horrible. This little app made my literacy incredible and now younger generations can’t access it the same due to corporate greed. I’ve deleted this app so many times but redownload to read certain things I cant find on the much better ao3. You might find pulling back on the ads and the paid books will do you better and increase people coming back to use wattpad.
Add translator
Really good but the only problem is ads every chapter and no translator, only thing stopping me from reading absolute masterpieces.
