Best Shopping App
I’ve been using this App for my grocery lists forever. I love that I can make one list and then when I’m shopping choose the store and only the items at that store will show. I have my weekly shopping list and my vacay list - so it is easy to have less things we just get on vacay (like wine and cheese but not cleaning products.)
Poor customer service
Can’t update paid subscription, lost all data have had for years. Nobody responds to my queries.
Best grocery app for me
While I do have a couple of suggestions that I submitted as feedback, the current features make this App very useful for me. I can create separate grocery lists for, say, recipes, specific stores, or events. In a list, I can sort by aisle or alphabetically, and can change the aisle and category info if needed. The pricing and taxes features are the best- so helpful for budgeting.
Alas…..
I’ve been using Grocery Gadget for years probably since you first started programming it. I’ve never been able to get my app to merge both the stay on my phone and the data in the group. I just tried for maybe the 30th time (call me crazy?) and I’m now stuck in an endless loop of syncing that never goes anywhere and is holding my app hostage so I can’t use it. Incredibly frustrating. It would be very helpful to be able to establish a new “store” independent of your list. I’ve never figured out how to enter my own version of “store” and it’s been very frustrating because there are other lists I would like to make than grocery stores or other actual stores. Personal lists. I have loved this app and have used it every time I’ve been to the grocery store for years. But the syncing issue is an extremely frustrating one. My husband and I try to sync the same list in the same group on our phones and have never seemed to be able to sync well enough to get the job done. I, too have searched for a user manual. I haven’t tried this time, because I’ve read other reviews in which people complain about the lack of one. I would appreciate more responsiveness from the programmers.

Siri support would certainly be nice. Especially when something pops into your mind for the list while driving. Also, Mac or web support would be handy.

My go to for grocery lists
Somewhat OK but…
“I cannot cannot enter remarks for an item. When clicking on that field, no keyboard is activated.” I have been waiting almost a year for them to fix this problem. I wrote about this in June 2024 and they promised to address it. In spite of my follow ups. nothing has happened. It’s a good app when it works. But it is really frustrating when you can’t get a simple fix in place.
Great app
Love the app, wish they had an android version so my wife and I could share our lists across platforms.
Paid
Years ago we paid for this app. More than we had ever paid for an app. The app no longer syncs between our phones. And they are now asking us to pay a monthly subscription. So disappointing!
Server Errors
Partner and I have used this app for years, but the app is constantly plagued with “internal server errors.” We each spent a long time on our respective phones in creating a large list. When I arrived at the grocery store, I found that the list would not sync due to an “internal server error.” Provided feedback in the app to report it and received only an automated reply. It’s been several hours now and there is still a server error. So, I would caution anyone who wants to try this app: it is unfortunately unreliable.

Great app period! Works as is! Doesn’t need updates and they don’t update with useless new functions. Been using it for several years now and won’t go to anything else/new
No Response
I’ve had this app forever and still love it but I can’t remember my password and can’t reset it to sync and couldn’t send invite to my hubby to share together. Sent a request and nothing back from them at all! Maybe this review will get them to help me. Don’t send another request link because I already used it.
My routine
Grocery Gadget has become part of my lifestyle and daily routine. I treated as if it were a journal, continually adding, deleting and adjusting my shopping lists using it as my guide. Grocery Gadget has become my go-to shopping companion!
Does not sync shared users
It would be helpful if you updated the app more frequently. It would be helpful if the lists would sync across users without having to “leave the group” everytime.
Barcode scanning
Still doesn’t work. Haven’t been able to scan & add new items to list.
Essential for efficient shopping
Grocery Gadget is essential for my monthly shopping. I live in a rural area and travel to the city monthly to shop at Costco and other stores as needed. I shop for myself and 2-3 others. This app makes these shopping trips easy and efficient. I wouldn’t be without it. When my income was reduced I ended most subscriptions, but Grocery Gadget is well worth the annual fee.
Used to LOVE this app. NO LONGER!!
Used to absolutely love this but now all of a sudden if you search for an item in your list while in ‘prepare’ mode - INSTEAD of the item and instead of getting an “add” option an AD showing an item (I have no interest in BTW, I mean Sunset Prunes comes up when I am searching for “Ice” ?? It shows up at the TOP OF the LIST like I already have that in my master list (I do NOT) and it has selected as adding “1” ??!! WTH?! I used to recommend this app to everyone I knew it was so good. YOU FREAKING BLEW IT! ANDDD I PURCHASED this app years ago - not the Free version - THE PAID VERSION.
Use it every week
I use it every week. Would be better if there was a way to compare items at different stores by cost per weight as each store I shop at carries different sizes. Also it could be better if I could make my list with something generic like “Apples” and then depending on what they have I might fill it with Fuji or Pink Lady depending on what looks best. A third thing that would be nice is a price history that shows me what it cost over the last couple years. Overall a good app that I am happy with.
Won’t synchronize with other phones!
Repeatedly, and over and over and over and repeatedly over and over THIS FAILS TO SYNCHRONIZE MY IPHONE WITH MY WIFE’S IPHONE. EVERY TIME ONE OF US GOES TO THE STORE WR HAVE TO CHECK IT, re that’s RE-SYNCHRONIZ IT
Works great except for synching
Love the way app is organized and its simplicity. Developers have stayed focused on the core function. Wish that we could rely on group synching though. After synch at random intervals my wife’s phone stops stanching with my shopping lists — always at the worst possible times (when you are in the store thinking you have the complete list
Great for synching lists
In my household we shop for ourselves as well as an elderly family member. Also we mostly shop at 2 different stores and a few key items are only in one store. This app is a Godsend helping us create and synch lists and pull a list for only a specific store. We also now use it to keep track of things we need online from Amazon & chewys, and we have a household to-do list (no store selected). This app is the best I’ve tried for our needs
No longer supported
This has been my grocery shopping app since I first got an iPhone in 2010. Sadly, even after charging a fee, support for this app has tanked. There have been no meaningful updates to features, usability, bug fixes, performance, or UI improvements since 2019. Support does not respond to submitted issues. Unable to export data to migrate to another app.
List options
It would be nice if we have a choice about whether added items appear at the top or the bottom of the list. I don’t always purchase everything on the list, and those things I prefer to be at the bottom. Every time I add something, I have to manually move it to the top, and that’s a real time waster.
Best most used app ever!
I have been using this app since the days of the Palm Pilot. It has transferred to every new device and keeps all the shopping list organized between all family members. Love it!!
Terrible service
App works okay, but we paid for no ads and still get them, and it no longer syncs with my family members, which was the main point for using this. Better off using something else.
Ok, but…..
It serves the basic purpose of a grocery list, but I’d find much more utility and LOVE the ability to sort Categories (eg Bakery, Produce, etc…) manually so that I can arrange them in the order I move through the grocery stores. Also to save that arrangement so I could toggle between sorting by Alphabetical & Store arrangement.
Nothing better
I’ve used this app for several years. Of all the grocery shopping apps out there with all kinds of features, the basic functionality of this one is the best: you build a grocery list in the order that you want, and at the store, Grocery Gadget adjusts to the way you shop.
No longer useful
The key feature of this app is to share grocery lists with my family. That no longer works. Ive been a subscriber for years but that ends in a couple of months. I will move to Apple Notes.
Scan label
I loved this app in the very beginning, but now you can’t add any food by scanning the bar code.
My go to app for grocery shopping
I have had this for several years and never found anything better. It allows me to have several different stores (Safeway, Costco, Safeway Christmas, Hawaii Costco…). Entering is easy with barcodes and ability to add photos. I’ve tried several others, but nothing comes closer
Terrrible!
My husband and I struggle to sync our groceries. After we updated the app, it’s all messed up. He can no longer see the items that I input. We are looking for a different app.
Great app but needs to work on android
I like this app better than many others I tried. At first it worked on Android OS and no longer does. If you are only Apple OS, I highly recommend it.

Used to be a great app
I’ve been using this app for many years and it was one of my go to apps. It was just wonderful for shopping at the very stores and I regularly shop in. I have hundreds of items on my list. A couple of upgrades ago it decided to add almost every item in all my lists to the local hardware store I had recently added. And if you delete the store you delete everything in its lists, so I can’t delete it. Further I just found out I can’t add stores anymore at all. I can’t believe how far downhill this app has gone in the last couple of years. One star is way too good for this app. Edit: more than a year later, and nothings fixed. Obviously if they've stopped maintaining this app. Edit: i've replaced Grocery gadget with AnyList which has, near as I can tell all the features of Grocery gadget without any of the many glitches.
Long time user
I have been using this app for many years and mostly works great. The barcode scanner on my iPhone 14 Pro Max does not work. I think having 3 cameras the app does not use the correct one and it will not focus. If this problem was fixed I would give it 5 stars.
Still the best I’ve used
I’ve used Grocery Gadget off and on for years based on my living situation and nutritional needs, and I’ve recently committed to intermittent fasting,tracking my food and budgeting for a consistent grocery bill. I’ve tried other grocery list apps that seem more modern or have features like recipe import or expiration date tracking. But they weren’t as effective to me in the real world. I’m experimenting with my eating plan for certain periods, whether weekly or monthly in trying different foods from different stores and Grocery Gadget has made it easy to add edit and re-organize the foods that I buy, and it is intuitive to use. One of my favorite features is the ability to go on the website and import foods that I track in mynetdiary through a CSV file. Have to copy and paste into an Excel sheet to reformat the import, but it works well based on the number of foods I have without having to enter them manually. There seems to be a bug or human error, where I enter the prices in the spreadsheet and it doesn’t import so I have entered those manually. Otherwise it works well. The changes or updates or features I’d like to add would be dark mode, a price per unit calculation, such as the price of an item for a pound at one store compared to the price per pound at another store other than just the price itself. Right now, I make multiple entries for the different sizes, so if I want a bag of frozen chicken breast, at one store they may have 8 pounds, a second store may have 3 pounds, yet another store would have 10 pounds. Grocery Gadget shows the best price, but not necessarily the best value. I will continue use it for groceries and household items with the handy multiple list feature and I may even reconsider resubscribing again if the ads become a nuisance!
Completely Browln
No longer works, sync I had in place for years no longer connecting. After dropping from group and trying to reconnect says server invalid, so tried dropping both sides and redoing sign up. Sign up crashes the app when entering the email address as you type the .com it attempts to verify email and crashes Need more updates then one a year and now totally broken app
