Excellent overall App
This app is excellent, and I uses on a daily basis. This should have been a native app for iOS My only wish is better printing options (at least for the web page) like printing a selection or only a sub-tree After years of use, I keep my opinion with this App... “One of my most used and dependable App” Glad to see it up to date with the latest updates of iOS
Latest version loses functionality
The new drop down menu basically is confusing and not as easy as the bottom Page menu bar was.

Big problem
I’ve used the previous version on my ipad and have been very happy with it. The new version however has me reconsidering my fidelity to it. The pane that lists my outlines will not go away, shrink, or move out of the way, thereby eating up a third of the screen. The keyboard is now much bigger and now fills a third of the screen from the bottom. What’s left is a postage stamp sized space for the outline itself. This is unacceptable. Am I doing something wrong?
Unexpected Error: 500
I love, love, love this app, and have been using it for many years, but for the past year or so I’ve noticed that when I try to save the data in the app, it gives me an “unexpected error: 500” pop-up, and I can see that half of my text files are being left unsaved. This makes me nervous that my data is vulnerable to being lost forever, which explains the 3 star rating. Fix this, and I’ll set it back to five stars! :-)
Best outliner
I’ve used this app for many years. Super easy, super flexible, and dead simple. Full print, export, import. Can’t say enough good about it.
Unclear on the concept
The app provides for the use of tags. I had intended to make an outline of a project and use tags to identify resources and people for each item. The developer just told me that tags can only be applied to a WHOLE outline, not individual entries. Makes the app useless for my purpose. Why tag a whole outline when you have a title. Support, when explaining this limitation asked. “Does that make sense?” Well...no.
Feature Suggestion
One feature I’d really like to see is a “New list from checked”. This is my main list app. I use it for shopping, packing, etc. For shopping, I’d really like to keep a main list, check off the items for that day, and then create a new shopping list from just the checked items. That’s the only thing keeping me from a 5-star rating.
Removed Copy/Paste trees????
You removed structural copy and paste! This is one of the most powerful procedures that made working with the app really productive. Now it copies a textual representation of the tree. Nobody needs this. Or is it hidden somewhere else? I have been using the tool for more than 10 years this is very disappointing
Outliner notetaker
I hoped this app would help me with essay planning. It has decent text space for brief notes. A bit over priced. Tree diagram for main points would be useful. Save to PDF/photo function would also be good rather than just email function. It has task complete function which might be handy.
Fast, simple, EASY
I’ve been using this thing for Years. A no frills outliner that does everything you need. Unbelievably easy, fast, intuitive, STABLE. Don’t get wrapped up in options- use this and GET THINGS DONE.

Effective & Awesome App
I enjoy using this app. I use it to manage knowledge & learning. All I wish for is to see the web app improve. It has been a while since we've seen a change.
Incovenience in Japanese keyboard.
After verup above iOS13, App dose not recognize whitespace key during using Japanese 10 keys keyboard. So I cannot make indent without qwerty keyboard layout. It's very unuseful.

Excellent!
Great outliner, lots of features, jet black dark mode, powerful etc. A very smart piece of software. Excellent! Devs: I just wish there were some way to have color tags and I also wish you could attach a jpeg into the notes section of a item.
Doesn't work
The app shuts down and doesn't save anything. This app does not do what it says it would do. It's not fair that we have to pay for these apps before we have a chance to see that they don't work. There must be a way for us to get our money back. This app does not deserve one star. I worked on it all day and I can't get it to save anything. I set up several outlines and none of them saved. The app unexpectedly shuts down and when you turned it back on the outline is gone along with all the work it took to create it. Do not waste your money on this app.
Miss delete all button!
This has been my outline app for a couple of years now. I use it for my grocery list among other things. This newest update removed a feature I used all the time - delete all checked items. Please bring it back!
Elegant & Focused! But Eats Up Files
First the good news, then the bad. Yes I’ve use just about every outliner app and program out there over the years. Fancy $60 versions plus their $30 sucker Pro version upgrades. But congrats to this Outliner app developer for a refreshing ease-of-use and logical organization of data features. Simply elegant. Congrats For giving us a quick learning curve so we can put this app to work right away. Thanks for timely updates & not over thinking or cluttering with bloated features. Thx for preserving and carefully extending the elegance of your app. Improvements? Maybe a few Suggs on that later. For now busy putting this great app thru its paces helping me org some issues. Bottom Line: Earns 5-Stars! - Now The Bad, REALLY BAD: Update: NOT a stable app. Worked great until opening the app one day only to find my most important file simply disappeared. No warning. Just out of the blue gone. Can’t trust Outliner. Tec Supp offered no explanation. Earns TWO STARS...that may be generous.

Love that it works on all devices (ipad, mac, iphone)
Very good outliner that syncs and works well on all devices. Optimized for touch devices, but servicable on desktop. Keep up the good work!
Not impressed
Read great things about this online in reviews, but was disappointed by the export/import options. No export as plain text! I have to use a more expensive app like omni outliner on the iPad to do this!!! So why use Outliner then? I see no point.
Great outliner!
I've tried ALL the outliners on the iPhone and this is my favorite. It's clean and uncluttered. I literally use it every day! With the online sync feature, I know my outlines are stored safely in the cloud and I can even share my outlines with other people. So why the 4 star rating? Because in the most recent update, something got messed up. I like to create a new sibling node by pressing Enter. And I also like to create a new child node by pressing Enter and then Space. This used to work fine and it still works, however now the outline jumps/scrolls to the bottom of the screen every time I create a new node this way. It's very distracting, please fix the jump! (I'm on iPhone 6.) Thanks!
A bit clunky
It's nice that it has the facility to add a note section at each node and the rest of the functionality is OK. But it isn't very touch screen friendly. You end up clicking into each item and the task toggle is just annoying, the way it has been implemented. The app doesn't really do much and for such a limited piece of software I would have expected a universal app. Instead you have to buy the iPad version separately.
Keine Weiterentwicklung
Ganz gutes App. eigendlich aber nicht so das man die Weiterentwicklung einstellen kann. Z.B. Farbliche Formatierungen währe hilfreich.
STILL, one of my most used daily apps
I’ve used it daily for over a decade now. There’s simply no better app for nestling lists within lists within lists. Now, I wouldn’t say it absolutely needs an Apple Watch companion app but it sure would be awesome on the watch.

Been looking for something like this for a while
Good, intuitive, simple, efficient interface. Even though there are a ton of outliner apps, this is the one I've been looking for. It's almost perfect, but I do have a wishlist: -Auto sync on startup / before shutdown -Ability to assign tags to single nodes -Ability to sync same file to both dropbox and outliner online AND/OR -Ability to set dropbox as default destination rather than having to change at each new outline. And most of all -A PC companion application, or a better solution to edit on pc (Recommended third-party software "bonsai" almost does it, if only it had native OPML support rather than that import/export business. Or at least the ability to set a keyboard shortcut to "export as opml" or set it as default format to "save as" to. Perhaps Carbonfin has enough weight to convince Bonsai to do a few tweaks?) Even as a standalone application I'm sure a PC equivalent of omnioutliner would do very well. Online Outliner is good but there has to be a good way to work offline.

Super Multi Use App
I have used this app, and relied on it, for many years. I just count on it so much, it’s a part of life for me. It keeps my lists, checklists for when I have to travel, outlines for classes I teach, etc. Super features for me: Easy movement of whole outline blocks, simple to do and without the complicating logistics of other programs The ability to access outlines from ipad, iphone and the web. Easy export Just puts from my knothole. Thanks a ton for keeping this going. I wrote this review several years ago and my opinion hasn’t changed a bit!!

I had used BrainForest for years on Palm devices, but this is really the type of product I had been looking for. The syncing is seamless, but could really rock with iCloud integration.

No where near Natara's Bonzai
I am sorry, the last review not withstanding, this app is a very skimpy attempt at an outliner. It is very difficult to use, and has very few options, especially compared to the Natara Bonzai app on my palm. The font is way too big, the controls clumsy, and the look bland. However my palm is dying and I was desperate for a replacement. I can appreciate there are some limitations with the iphone specs, but hopefully with time CarbonFin will use my ten bucks wisely and produce a Bonzai-worthy app. Anyone else out there working on an outliner? Any updates available? Curtisthehippo

Outliner mit Potential für eine zweite Version
Bei Outliner handelt es sich um eine Programm, das (Aufgaben-) Listen in Form einer Gliederung darstellen kann. Den Aufgaben kann kein Fälligkeitstermin zugeordnet werden. Prioritäten können ebenfalls nicht vergeben werden. Konsequenterweise fehlt auch jegliche Form der Sortierung nach Fälligkeit/ Priorität. Der Landscape-Mode des iPhone wird nicht genutzt. Ein Abgleich mit einem Desktop-Programm ist nicht möglich. Kurzum: Das Tool muss künftig noch stark erweitert werden, um wirklichen Nutzen zu bieten. Der geforderte Preis erscheint mir im Verhältnis zum Nutzen überzogen. Aber vielleicht vermag Version 2 des Programmes zu überzeugen.
Simple, pratique, presque parfait
L'application est très rapide et agréable a utiliser pour prendre des notes ou des actions à la volée. Toutefois, la lisibilité pourrait être améliorée en mettant en gras les titres non developpés. En outre, une notion de priorité (et de filtrage par priorité) manque cruellement. Je passerai volontiers de 3* à 4* si une prochaine MAJ nous apportait ces ameliorations. Application à conseiller en tous cas.
Best Outliner App
Great for all kinds of outlining. Also great for Goal tracking and other aspects of linear time management. Excellent integration with Dropbox and seamless text exporting. It is not perfect, but it is a minimalist app which perfectly handles outlines.
if I could export it into e.g. Word or Powepoint ... but it's dead end
Hi, this app is only working on the iPhone. The "Standard" OPML is not supported by MS Office. If you, like me, work in an office and like to take your notes for a meeting while commuting, you would need to transfer it quickly into Word or Powerpoint or something similiar. This doesn't work. You can email OPML plain text pasted into the email or a kind of ASCII art which is of no use either. The website, you could sync with, doesn't has an interface to further work on the outline. So forget to use it in Meetings. If you copy the synced outline from the browser to you Office software you will get weird form elements. So there is actually no way to get into MS Office besides formatting it again. This is of course too time consuming and you'd rather use pen and paper.
Does what I need
So far I am very happy with this product cause it satisfied my needs: a hierarchical outliner that expands and collapses easily. Great for my To Do list, shopping lists, and keeping track of ideas. The free online synching capability is great. I'd give it 5 stars if it had colour / highlight abilities.
Moyen moins
Le logiciel en lui est plutôt sympa, mais il est cher et, plus gros problème, n'offre aucun moyen de synchronisation avec un logiciel sur son Mac ou sur un site Web. On se retrouve donc avec un soft exclusif iPhone, pas trop mal pensé (gestion des projets et visualisation graphique l'avancement), mais avec de grosses lacunes (pas d'alarmes, de date/heures limites, pas de moyen d'associer un contact pour lister de coups de fils à passer par exemple, etc...) Je regrette mes 8€...
Ok
I was only partially satisfied with this outliner, because you need to navigate so many screens to create a simple outline. I use outlines a lot so kept searching and settled on quickdocs, which also has text formatting, ability to save as text or as a .doc. I will keep this program on my iPod, because it's notes concpt will be usefful for certain tasks - but not as my day to day outliner.

Let me start by saying I love this app. I’ve reviewed it with 5 stars before but I’ve recently ran into a problem. I use Dropbox to sync my OPML files and this has worked flawlessly for a long time. However, I had to create a new Dropbox account a few days ago due to a lock. This meant I had to re-connect apps that relied on the platform to Dropbox from scratch. Outliner was one of those apps. Unfortunately, a few hours after authorizing the app, Outliner threw a sync error asking me to re-authorize. I did so thinking it was a fluke. However, this kept happening every time I used Outliner thereafter, the app kept asking me to re-authorize. At first, I thought this was an issue with mine alone or my Dropbox having a problem. However, upon researching, I found that Dropbox have updated their API with short-lived access tokens that expire in 4 hours time. According to Dropbox team, the app itself needs to be update to make use of permanent tokens if one wishes to authorize access once and have syncing without interruption after. And so I’m asking the devs here. Please update the app to correctly sync with Dropbox once more. Since there aren’t many cloud storage services available to use for syncing, users are limited on their choices and the buggy behavior slows workflow a lot besides being plain annoying. Edit: just like that it’s back! Much thanks to the good folks at CarbonFin for fixing the Dropbox issue. Now it syncs perfectly like it did before. This app is indispensable!

Picture Option?
This application would be outstanding with a picture option. While it is fantastic at allowing you to create detailed lists, it lacks a way to record items visually. It would be great to have a way to add an image from either the camera roll or one stored on the phone. For almost any list you create a picture option would help you record work you've completed, things to buy (ie, the Chrismas Shopping list from the example), pics of plants to add to the landscaping project (from your previous example), furniture pieces that you would like to buy ect....the options are endless. PLEASE ADD THIS, and it would truely have a five-star rating!!!

階層化されたTODOやチェックリストをつくるのにはちょうどいいですね。 とりあえず並列に書き出しておいて後から階層化することも簡単にできます。 当然普通のアウトラインエディタ（章立てを考えたり）としても使えます。 操作系はちょっと癖があるような気もします。 悪くはないけど、常用しなくなりつつあります。
