Can't connect
I cannot connect with the Onion browser using Orbot with either a Direct Connection or Smart Connect. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 26.6.1. This happens whether lockdown mode is on or off. Since you have your own VPN, I turned ExpressVPN off.

Great but is missing key-features
I think this app would be perfect if it had support for obfs4 and other bridging methods. I can’t use tor without obfs4, as content is blocked where I’m at connecting from via deep-packet inspection when using the regular tor connection. It looks like there was once support for it, but was discontinued due to memory issues? Would upgrade this review to 5 stars if this feature would be reimplemented.

I’m not sure if Apple changed something in the update (18.3.2) for MaxMemInQueues or this is something else, I tried Onion Browser with built in Tor and it works. But I love this App so I hope it gets fixed
Doesn’t Work, Appreciated Though
I really like what you guys do here, enforcing privacy. I’m trying to use Orbot to help use Onion Browser, but it just won’t work. It stops at 50% sometimes, or goes up but then resets. Please fix this when possible, thanks!
Can't start or maintain connection
Connections don't last 30 seconds let alone 30 minutes. Edit: Disabling the setting 'Always clear cache on start' made the app usable. Changing my review from 1 to 3 stars, this setting needs to be changed from default status.
Manual DNS Resolver feature request❤️
Hi, I'm writing from iran. I was hoping if we could get a second manual multiple dns resolver input or a dns scanner even. During this digital blackout android users have been using clients that support dnstt and multiple dns resolvers, would be great to have it on tor under dnstt tunnel section or as a separate option, thank again!
Should be 18+ rather than 4+, kids shouldn’t have access to this.
Dear Orbot team, this app connects to the dark web and I don’t want my kids to have access to such things especially with all of the sensitive stuff on there. Age up the app please especially when other tor browser apps on the App Store are ages up to 16+.
problem with ios18
After updating to iOS 18 from 16, any attempt to connect to the internet using TOR results in the connection being lost and the app being reset to the“ready to connect” state. Tried everything from re-installing the app, using various browsers and setting but nothing seems to work.

Unfortunately the ios version have no bridges available, which makes it literally useless for users in spc areas such as Iran and china plz kindly add bridges too

Don't bother
Installed this app and it made all my other apps constantly crash, tried installing/reinstalling no different. Plus it made my phone very slow, deleted it now my phone is back to normal.
Works perfectly
Does it thing, but (regardless of the selected type) bridges doesn't work, while they work in Onion browser using the Built-in Tor. Should also work in Orbot then.
Uninstalling
I’m uninstalling the browser because I can’t use another vpn which is way more stable than orbot, I will reinstall when you give us the ability to disable orbot.

was working fine on my iPhone 15. One day it stopped my phone stopped connecting 2 the internet 4 every app that needed internet. I can’t bring myself 2 delete in hope that an update. will soon have an updateWorks fine on my MacBook. I’m more than disappointed I teased on this app 4 the best free VPN. Is there something I should do?
As of 2026 this app is perfect
This works well with the official iOS tor app. The vpn will prevent a lot of other apps from loading so keep that in mind. So if you see your weather app or crunchyroll not loading turn off the VPN.

Works for me
Works for me, I have no issues with it. Only problem is that it has no bridges. Wouldn't recommend it for illegal stuff on phone, use the Tor browser if you want that. Some browsers on iPhone don't like Tor at times but that's not often.
Does not work well on ios 17
It doesn't work well on ios 17 when the connection is made and open the web browser is is repeated and disconnects frequently I also tested the beta version of the app 1.6.7 build 44 This issue, which is a risk to privacy, has not been resolved

not US connectsble
if im in mexico, i need to connect in the US for my services. this is a joke. use a tor browser but the vpn is a joke. a vpn lets you choose a location. this is a bully that bullies you into an unknown location in countries that dont have any american services. vpns are supposed to keep you at home digitally while youre away traveling. this app is a false equivalency to a vpn! theyre like, we settle vpn definitions in courts, not w customers! we wrote our own fake vpn definition‼️ theyre EVIL CON ARTISTS‼️

It randomly disconnects for some reason.
Hi, On my iPad Pro (12.9 inch) running on iPadOS 17.0.3 it randomly disconnects the WI-FI when the connection was nearly 50% complete. Restarting the connection after reconnecting to my Wifi still randomly disconnects for no reason. I wonder if it has to do with Siri turned on, or some sort of automatic disconnect bug that all iOS and iPadOS devices had experiencing when connecting to onion services?
Connection issues.
Probably down to iOS design, but seems that it struggles to connect to the network and will drop its connection occasionally which is a pity. Hope you guys keep trying with it!
Good app; Typical iOS
iOS = strong file security options; lame VPN options(flip for android). An iOS update broke Orbot for me. Not surprised. I don’t think they’ll rush to fix it.
bridges manual added not working
Please fix manually added bridges and split it from onion browser because I can manage bridges only through onion browser not from Orbot directly but even that way when I add bridges from friends they loop 2% and reloads and never go ever then 2%. Fix please!!!

WiFi disconnected during startup
Why does this app keeps annoying my WiFi connection during the beginning of VPN connection? Any explanations? Bugs? Flaws? Errors? So annoying.

It used to work well but now it loses connection as soon as it reaches 100%.
Unstable-NOT
It’s so finicky. If it ever finally connects to tor, that connection doesn’t last but for a few seconds. There’s gotta be a better way to connect to tor on iOS… EDIT: Change the clear cache setting and it works. My bad TP 🧅

Not working on iOS 17
Taking very long time to connect. After , Keeps disconnecting and reconnecting forever. If you go to onion browser , you will come back to Orbot and you will hop between Tor browser and Orbot! You cannot browse.

Works good when it connects… but it’s prone to disconnecting and has a somewhat slow booting process that may fail and require to be turned off app closed and reopened before starting again
App usually works great!
Only issue I’m facing right now is I can’t use the VPN as whenever I press connect, it disconnects my phone from my WIFI connection, and also does not work with data, checked for an update and there is not one, I assume this issue is common looking at the reviews and the fact I’ve never had any issues with it before this, hope next update fixes
Absolutely there when you need it!!
I don’t use this as a primary VPN. But this has been there for me over and again. You have to know your device configuration and you have to restrict which apps are background and cellular access. But if you maintain a bit of the responsibility for your own security and network traffic, This one is there for you!!

I waited 5 minutes and it was still “connecting”. Useless garbage. I’m uninstalling immediately.

Ich kann leider nur bestätigen, was die meisten anderen hier schrieben. - Warum nehmen die Entwickler nicht mal Stellung dazu, oder Apple? - Es muss doch eine Möglichkeit für iOS-Nutzer geben, Tor zu nutzen. —- EDIT 15.11.23: Ich habe es doch zum Funktionieren gebracht unter iOS 15.8.. —- Dazu habe ich die App Orbot separat aus dem AppStore geladen und zunächst die Einstellungen bearbeitet. Die ersten beiden und den letzten Punkt habe ich aktiviert. Das sind: Bei Fehlern automatisch neu laden, nach dem Beenden zum zuletzt verwendeten VPN zurück kehren, bei jedem Start den Cache löschen. —- Es gibt immer wieder Abbrüche, aber das erneute Verbinden funktioniert. Nach dem Stopp verschwindet das WLAN-Symbol, taucht aber wieder auf, sobald man eine (nur online verwendbare) App öffnet). Das zuletzt verwendete VPN ist dann auch wie gewünscht wieder aktiv. EDIT 28.11.23: Warum bricht die Orbot-Verbindung so oft ab? Teils alle paar Sekunden und das stört dann schon sehr.
Useful IF IT WOULD KEEP CONNECTED
I use my own VPN, VyPr and use my own bridge connections, why would I need this vpn as well…I don’t want orbit, and if forced to use it..well it makes Tor browsing unusable. PLEASE FIX IT
Useful when it works
Works quite well when it connects. Fast and able to play video. but often does not connect and simply ends up repeatedly turning off and preventing connection to wifi until you delete the VPN profile

It worked fine the first time I installed it, but since then it won’t connect. I’ve had to uninstall it in order to get back online.
I was under the impression this was like tor browser?
But basically just tor based onion routing vs browser/search functions. Oh well.
