The best digital equivalent of a paper planner!
I’ve been using this app for over 3 years now, and I couldn’t be happier with it. So many people ask about what this is because they still are going through paper journals every year. I love that I can look back to previous years and that I don’t have to carry more than my iPad with me. No more wasting paper every year!
Makes no sense

Great App, just one feature missing
Recently switched to AJournal from Pencil Planner (much older app with no updates and no customization) and so happy w all the different templates, stickers, ability to add pictures. I have been telling all my coworkers to download this app. The ONE feature that would make this app absolutely PERFECT that pencil planner has is the ability to share your calendar w/ iCloud family plans. So for example, on the Pencil Planner app- my husband could download the app under our shared family iCloud and he could see my planner and keep up with family events. I would pay a premium monthly subscription to be able to have a family shared option!
Not to good
I thought it would be good and funny to just do it in a iPad because I always do it on paper 📄📃. And after Augest 1 it was fine but then it had a glitch also after Augest 2 it did that glitch I also have to use the free stickers and they are blocky but I still have to pay for this app beware this is / app in purchase /!

Great app for keeping track of daily activities.
Simple to understand, setup and use. Also very versatile at tracking daily activities, with the ability to look back at earlier data and drop in data from outside apps. Jian, one of the creators, helped me with an update issue I was having, offered a temporary solution which worked out well. Then made another update to the overall app. For me the versatility is limitless. Thanks for creating a journal/tool that actually works with you!
Don’t waste your time.
WORST APP EVER. Doesn’t make sense. You can’t even delete pages after you’ve creating them.

Can't add multiple pages to all days
I see a request in the faqs to have the ability to have multiple pages automatically every day. That request was 3 years ago. How is it that I still have to add multiple pages . manually to every day?
Best app ever, but…
This app helps me remember what I have planned today, but it doesn’t let me write on “tasks”. It makes me use the pen.
App randomly closes and deletes everything
I only downloaded this today, I didn’t realise you have to pay for loads of the features. I spent ages making templates and filling pages and the app closed itself and deleted everything so frustrating! Was liking it till that

Awesome App
This app has everything I was looking for. I love writing down my to-dos for the day and I love that I can do that alongside all of my digital calendar items. Other journal apps are so clunky with digital calendar importing. AJournal removed all of the convoluted steps. I wish you could import stickers, but you can pull them from your photo library. I also find the templates that you create a little confusing. Otherwise, I really love everything else. I’m happy to pay for the full version and I hope to continue to see them do good work. Edit (1/28/26) to add: I do wish the writing tools were a little better. Like the calligraphy pen could be more fine, overall if all writing tools could be a little more forgiving of penmanship, scratch out to erase would be helpful, as well as hold to draw straighten drawn lines instead of having to use the ruler. Still love the app for its main purpose.

Synced up with my calendars and added events from them even items that have been there already
I was really impressed that it coordinated with my calendars and pulled all my events that were listed there into its own calendar, so now when I'm going to add something to a calendar, I just use Siri and add it, and it automatically shows up in me, a journal calendar
Unreliable, unpredictaable
I first rated this app 4 stars in March 2025, then 3, and now 1. I paid $26.99 and have had constant issues. Customization works briefly, but if you add backgrounds, its only for the day,but sometimes it will be for a few days. Last week designs randomly changed or disappeared entirely. . Recently, all pages went blank with a “select a template” message—without any action on my part. Itvwas been frustrating! Now to keep me as a customer I want Daily entries to sync with weekly or monthly views, and to-do lists to carry over. These things can be done thru the option to use Calendar. Editin still requires using Calendar. My opinion, maybe just use Calendar, why both it with two!
(Almost) everything I was looking for
I love the template customization, cloud syncing, and the handwriting. I’m also super excited to start trying the tracker! The only things I would love more would be collaboration, creating more template elements, and erasing calendar events from the schedule. Overall, it’s so great, and exactly what I wanted after seeing all the dupes on online ads!

Amazing Planner!
Love love love this app on my iPad and iPhone! Love the integration also the design capabilities with the upgrade. I have completely let go of my Franklin Planner after 22 years! There are too many things that I love to list here, fantastic job to the developers, and what a nominal price for such a well done app.
DOES NOT WORK
I really wanted to get a nice planner for my iPad, but after trying it, I can put stickers in all that, but I literally can’t write and that’s the main point that I wanted and I can’t do it so it made me real mad
Good but some suggestions
Good decides for journal. I am using attacker for study/work records. It is good AJournal have access to those data. I have some suggestions. For overall situation, I hope this journal app can also have access to Healthy app(sleep and exercise), then can analysis today’ status, help finding correlation with all factors, and give overall life improvement suggestions (like should sleep before 1am or else). That is the one piece life couch app I am looking for!
Die Synchronisierung funktioniert nicht
Ich habe extra Premium-Abo bezahlt, um die App auf meinem iPad und iPhone gleichzeitig nutzen zu können. Leider funktioniert es gar nicht. Wenn ich die Synchronisierung auf dem iPhone einstelle, die App schließe und dann wieder öffne, „grüßt“ sie mich wie bei der ersten Verwendung und ich muss alles neu einstellen (inklusive Synchronisierung) und für so was soll ich 2,99 € monatlich zahlen?! Nein.
Set up takes awhile and
Might or might not be worth effort. Are recurring tasks possible? Using a keyboard how do i mark a task as completed? Can I setup a task for specific recurring days only? If a task is not completed will it roll over to the next day? Please let me know asap.
Honestly, I’m surprised more people don’t know about this app.
Omg I love this app! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for for such a long time. I’ve bought so many physical and digital planners over the years and they’re never quite right. I like digital planners because there are endless stickers and ways to decorate, but I always hated that in apps like GoodNotes I couldn’t sync my calendar. This app might actually replace my reminders app and my notes app. One thing I really love is that only the pages I’ve actually used show up. I don’t feel guilty for not filling out every single page of a planner like I usually do. It makes the whole experience feel a lot more flexible and less stressful. The only issues I’ve noticed are that it glitches once in a while when I’m writing and my handwriting disappears, which can be frustrating. I also wish we could choose different fonts for the system templates, and it would be nice to have circle checkboxes as an option too. Other than that, this might finally be the planner system I stick with… hopefully lol.
Paying for literally NOTHING.
My screen is completely blank. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and done everything I can to make the app work, but to no avail. And I JUST paid for the yearly plan and added the ATracker to it.

Works well as a basic planner but when using the daily/weekly layouts (the only ones I use, don’t know if it’s the same on other spreads) my text boxes get condensed or disappear when I click between daily/weekly pages, so I always have to go back and re-size them which gets super frustrating. Also every text box opens the keyboard when you tap on it once, even if you only want to format it. Should change where you have to tap twice to change the text. Besides this, colour options on free version are good, and there are some nice stickers but would like more that aren’t just emoji-style icons.
Best Planner App
I don’t normally write reviews, this is the most perfect planner or journal app ever. It’s filly customizable and I can fix any minor box from a set template that would normally annoy me and change it. I’ve bought countless of physical planners, digital planners, notions, tried apple maps, google maps and nothing is making me rejoice as much as this app is. Someone on the team THINKS the way I do and whoever it is I appreciate them so much. Thank you so much 😭.

It does nothing
Useful, but hope for some improvements
I really like this App, as I have been searching for something that lets me mix calendar planning and journaling. There are some additions or tweaks that would make it better though. Would be nice if adding links inserted a preview of the linked web page (drag and drop of web pages would be even better). Would be nice to be able to easily extend pages vertically (rather than adding new pages in tabs). Overall very useful though!

User friendly but bugs
I like this, really easy to use and good features - even in the free version. However it has a major bug where all the text from a daily entry I’m working on just disappears (I’m using an Apple Pencil). I’ve tried to undo but that doesn’t work. It’s happened 3 times in the couple of weeks I’ve had it. Also had the opposite issue where a days entry has duplicated across multiple days.
THE BEST OF DIGITAL AND PEN!!!
This app honestly changed my life. It’s the first planner that truly feels like pen and paper and digital combined. I write by hand, decorate like a scrapbook, and still get all the convenience of digital planning without rewriting plans when things change. I use it every single day. Being able to search my handwriting, pull in my iPhone Reminders and schedule, and create my own templates (plus importing stickers I make in Canva) makes it perfect for both planning and notes. My only wish is a higher-contrast or schedule-style calendar view — I keep mine in the corner while planning my workday and it’s a little hard to see at a glance. If you love planning or journaling, this is a hidden gem. More people need to know about it.
App logged me out
I just had a payment taken out today for my renewal and normally I would say this app is amazing (cause I’ve been using it for months now with no problem) But since I was logged out today, I cannot get back in. Support told me where to go to “restore purchase” but it’s not working. It’s like the button is there but it’s not clickable. (Even tried clicking all other buttons around it and there was no issue) Tried in my other devices to see if it was my iPad but nope. Still hasn’t worked. It’s been a couple hours now and I still haven’t been able to get into my account even though It just took a payment today for a renewal. My whole work was in this and now I’m getting no answer from support for this 😭😭 Make sure you have backup methods with your notes/calendar folks cause this is not fun. I had to cancel all my meetings today because I cannot get into my notes/projects and support stopped replying to me over an hour ago.

This app is amazing! There is no adds,amazing colours and I love the new background update plus there is stickers!! It even has Tasks like it’s an agenda which really help out. I definitely recommend this!! :) <3

Just what I was looking for but would appreciate if I can zoom in to write text, if you’re an aesthetic person you cant zoom in to write and your scribble just tend to look horrible
