What people like
- Great for studying complex subjects
- Flashcards help with retention
- All-in-one study tool works well
What they complain about
- App crashes constantly on launch
- Highlighting breaks on special characters
- Audiobook voice sounds robotic and bad
Pearson+ is great
I love Pearson+, especially being able to listen to my textbooks via audiobook!
App crash
App crashes whenever I try to launch it.
Nice but pricey
The app works very well and keeps all my books organized, but the subscriptions are not my favorite. If someone buys a book, rather than renting, I believe they should have access perpetually.
New

Kinda buggy for highlighting
Highlighting is extremely buggy when highlighting numbers and cuts out highlighting completely on random lines
Great program
It’s very precise and gets straight to the point, taking everything one step at a time. If my child doesn’t understand the lesson, it gives her some extra problems to practice. And if she’s still struggling, it actually shows her step-by-step how to solve the problem. I really love that part—it’s been awesome! 😊
App doesn’t load textbook
Read the wonderful reviews and was excited to use the app to read and study while away from home but every-time I open book in the app it freezes then closes the app after several minutes. I deleted and redownloaded and same issue.
Almost Perfect!
This app is great. The additional material & interfaces really help me better understand and retain the information in the book which is vast & can be complicated. It’s nice that I can quickly review using flash cards or quizzes on my phone if I have some downtime. That’s super helpful for retention. The only drawback I would say is the online version logs me out after a short period and there are so many clicks to get back in & onto where I left off that it’s off-putting. The other thing is I wished some of the material on the app was available in offline mode.
Sucks if you need the audiobook
The one thing I really like about this app is the flashcards for the chapters. Other than that, you’re screwed if you’re somebody that needs an audiobook. I was using this to study through EMT course and large portions of many of the chapters just weren’t there. I tried to work it out through their tech-support, which took hours of time for nothing. Right when we were almost getting somewhere, it just randomly decided to log me out. No one contacted me back. The audiobook, when you can use it, is also straight AI. It doesn’t read at a normal rate, either too fast or too slow. Really not too stoked with the app, but the flashcards are good.
Good and …
I enjoyed this app and found it very helpful in my studies however the videos stopped playing and it was hard to find support and it was never resolved
Person+ (using it for school work)
It is good
Can’t even read my textbook…
It keeps telling me I’m logged into another iPhone, I don’t have another iPhone, I just barely made my account for one textbook for one class, and I can’t even access it on the app. I have to open up a browser window and use that instead cause the app doesn’t work, no point to the app
Access code
So fast take 1 day only, received my email. Goof for textbooks.
Major accessibility and usability issues on iOS
Pros of this app: - search function - study videos and additional materials - ability to change font sizes Cons: - dark mode hides CRUCIAL information (like formulas) which is a major accessibility issue - no way to take margin notes - highlighting doesn’t work on symbols (and symbols are hugely important in science textbooks) - no way to bookmark images - “feedback” option is a black hole and the native iOS browser is not supported so contacting support from within the app is impossible - highlighting constantly flips the page instead of selecting text This is such a frustrating app to use and it’s really disappointing considering eTextbooks are basically a requirement in order to keep up with education these days.
Useful when it wants too be
I love the mobile version, the only issue I have is Pearson AI glitches works when it wants too. Contacted support and was advised it was the device I was using. Fast forward a few months later, I am having the same issue on the “recommended” browser/ computer.
Loving it
I like that I can do practice exams on the go.Its such a great way to study
Limit 2 electronics at a time
You can only open the ebook for 2 electronics at a time. After that you have to request a code. I have multiple devices so it’s annoying that I have to request a code every time I switch devices.
Solid app
This is a solid app. I have yet to explore all the features, but excited to explore the study feature. I like that you can navigate throughout the text and bookmark where you left off. It’s easy to use and attractive in its layout. My only disappointment is the miss pronunciation of one word :“research”. Every time it mispronounces it it’s like nails on a chalkboard.
Pearson
This e-text would be wonderful if highlighting worked consistently. Such a shame that we pay so much for temporary access to a textbook and you can’t consistently use the functionality needed. Frustrating. Do better.
Good app, one bug
It’s great for school. My only problem is that when I try to use the audiobook function, the audio hasn’t been starting where I’ve been telling it to; it’s been starting way later. Similarly, the read along function is buggy, often going too fast or slow
:)
I love the flash card option to make studying easier!
Book won’t open
This is my first day of my fall semester of college. I downloaded this app to be able to review my digital book. However, the book will not populate. I think the book might have populated one time, but since then I have logged out and logged back in as well as deleted the app and re-downloaded the app however, my book will not populate whenever I click open book. This is such an inconvenience.
could be better
Audiobook controls are limited. Also the one textbook I read on the app it is often difficult to look/search through the table of contents. Lastly, the privacy practices shown on the Apple Store seem surprisingly many for an education app.
Can’t access my books or account
I’ve been trying to access my old book to study up, but I am unable to access my account or even send a verification email or text message
Needs work
Honestly, this app needs work. It drains the battery. You can’t highlight anything that isn’t a letter — an italicized word? Forget it. Something that has a parentheses is out of the question. Even pH, which shouldn’t have a problem is out. forget anything in the respiratory chapter, since any chemical subscript can’t be highlighted. The AI tool is also dumb as a stump. The search tool is helpful, but what good is it if you can’t highlight items and find what you need? You can’t get to the study area on the app, no PAL access, etc. In the end, it’s good for taking a book with you. But that’s it.
Best app ever
Literally the best helps so much 10/10 worth every freaking cent
Over integration of AI and new vocab features
I have been using Pearson+ for quite some time, and one of my favorite features was the ability to tap a highlighted vocabulary word and instantly see its definition in a simple white popup. It was fast, unobtrusive, and allowed me to continue reading without losing my place or breaking my concentration. Unfortunately, that feature has now been replaced with the AI Study Tool panel. Instead of a quick glossary definition, every vocabulary lookup now opens the AI sidebar. While AI can be helpful in some situations, it is unnecessary for something as simple as defining a vocabulary term. This change interrupts the reading experience, takes up more screen space, and makes studying less efficient. It feels like Pearson is trying to incorporate AI into every aspect of the textbook, even when it makes the user experience worse. Not every feature needs AI, and not every student wants AI involved in their learning. Sometimes a simple, well-designed tool is the better solution. The biggest issue is the lack of user choice. Students learn in different ways, and we should be able to customize our learning experience. If someone prefers the AI Study Tool, that’s great. But those of us who preferred the original glossary popup should have the option to use it instead. Giving users the ability to choose between the classic glossary popup and the AI panel would make the app far more flexible and student-friendly. Technology should enhance learning, not force every interaction through AI. Pearson should focus on providing options rather than replacing proven features with AI simply because it’s the latest trend. Please bring back the original glossary popup or at least add a setting that allows users to choose the experience that works best for them.
Pretty good
Really like the app, wish it would be more versatile for notes and better organization of features such as internal videos and a notebook access for the notes made
Seriously bad UX
1) I’m really sick of the textbook “page” snapping back to the to the top when I accidentally click forward to the next page but then try to immediately go back. (Moving to the next page is way too easy to do by mistake with just a tap when trying to summon the menu for contents, etc.) 2) MAKE IT EASIER TO OPEN THE BOOK. When I tap on the textbook, I expect to start reading within seconds. But no: I’m brought to a second screen that puts tutorial videos at the top, then has a much smaller “read textbook” button that I have to scroll down to. 3) The “audiobook” feature is just a bad AI reader that makes it more difficult to understand than reading the text. 4) Solutions at the back of the book have their numbers cut off so instead of Problem 43 I just see the number “3.” 5) Diagrams seem to be in a png format, so in dark mode it’s impossible to read them since it’s blue, red, and black pictures/text on a black background. 6) There’s no way to report content errors or other things that need to be corrected/adjusted 7) My view history should have WAY more than just the last three pages I viewed. I frequently need to reference at least three pages to answer a problem, but when I do that, the end-of-chapter exercises are no longer listed for me to easily jump back to. (And when I do jump back, it goes to the top of the page instead of where I left off.)
Convenient
Would love to see the option to listen to the textbook
Very helpful
They had video classes that broke down the subject. I had a good experience with the app. Especially calculus and accounting. I had to use a competitor for another class and they were so bad. This app was better by far.
Nutrition
The audiobook never works
Great app!
Brilliant and entertaining very useful for my upcoming business I just wish it was interactive so I ça ask these experts questions on their subjects Overall a very good review and many positives
Videos don’t play on iphone 16
I like this just fine otherwise but it’s inconvenient that I have to use the web browser to use study prep. Why bother having study prep in the app at all if we can’t use it?
What’s the point if no Split View
That’s it there’s no Split View. You can still do slide over but I like to write notes and read the chapter at the same time. And I like Split View. I end up using my browser, it’s whatever. Could be better.
Awesome
Has been a lifesaver for college
Do better
The app is not user friendly, it’s difficult to navigate
Need different payment methods
I think it’s a very very useful app but if you aren’t live in UK or USA and don’t have paypal or apple pay it’s just a disappointment because you can’t access the channels. I think developers should add new payment methods so it becomes a worldwide app for students.
Ok
Been having trouble using the highlight feature on mobile when getting to the end of a paragraph, it will de select the paragraph in on and exit out of the highlighter. Guess it’s just a bit buggy when trying to listen to the audio book highlight and take notes at the same time on a phone.
It’s okay
Really like that there is an “audiobook” function. But highlighting is difficult, especially given that any special characters (sub or super text, equations, etc.) will not be highlighted and actually cause the whole highlight to fail. Have to highlight in chunks around important equations or nomenclature. Very annoying.
Study support!
Great app for studying complex subjects.
Edit: 1 star. This app is infuriating!
My hatred for this app has grown in the last 9 weeks of using it. It’s so buggy. First, if you make one wrong swipe with your finger, good luck. It’ll throw you to some random section and now you have to spend a few minutes figuring out how to get back. Second, it’s buggy as hell. I keep getting thrown to random sections of when scrolling down. I prefer to listen to my books and highlight them as I go. The audio controls are terrible and make it difficult to quickly start and stop the audio. There should be an option to lock the start and stop button to the screen so I can quickly stop the audio, do a quick highlight and reviews and then start it again. Right now it’s very painful to start stop quickly
False Answers
I have been using this program to have a fighting chance in successfully completing my physiological chemistry college course. As I have done the study prep practice questions I have come across many where I choose an answer, it tells me I’m wrong, but then in the description or walkthrough video of getting the correct answer it was in fact the same as my answer, not the one the system said was correct. Be careful when using this, can’t trust it’s telling you whether your answer is actually right or wrong unless you make sure to look over why you got it wrong. You may find you were actually right.
App works ok, but not great
The app has a few bugs and quirks that sometimes make it frustrating to use. It’s a real shame that one is forced to use the Pearson app to read their textbooks versus using a more standard PDF reader. Pearson, I would suggest that, if you don’t want people to find alternate means of obtaining textbooks, perhaps you should offer a first-class reader environment.
Love it
I wouldn’t survive A and P without this app! Everything is all in one and makes it easy. Thank you to the professors on this app and the developers!
Provide Offline Access for Laptops
It’s really offensive to me that I cannot access my e-textbook on my computer if internet access is limited. Please, just let us download chapters in a temporary pdf or something.
Formatting & Subscription Hostage
My text, Marieb A&P 12, is so poorly formatted that I cannot highlight numbers, special characters such as the percentage sign or the latin alphabet, and occasionally even just words that happen to be bolded, italicized, or links. There is no way to use a stylus to write notes directly on the pages. A PDF in a browser would be more functional. Also, ALL, and I do mean every single, study aide that comes with my book is missing from the app. I MUST use a browser to access these materials. However, their subscription study program and AI generated materials that are both inaccurate and not customizable (meaning every little detail I don’t need to know is included against my will) are very available. It is ridiculous that I am paying over $100 to temporarily access this text and I can’t even mark it up, use the built in study materials without using another app, or even use the study materials that are available because they’re unhelpful and outside of my budget. This is highway robbery and I don’t have any coins to spare. Do better.
Not user friendly
Please allow notes taking on the textbook itself with Apple Pencil. It is so bad when you have to stare at fill in the blank type of questions, and then be forced to write your answer on a separate piece of paper.
