Lovely
Disgusting onboarding process
Please stop making me go through a 20 minute ride just to get into the app. I've been using the app since beginning but it's becoming very frustrating recommending the app to someone or installing in a new device when you're presented with a 20 minute unskippable menu surfer. Edit: just uninstalled. It's no longer worth the hassle.
Why mandatory survey?
Guys. I love this app. I have had it installed on my iPhone for years. It’s truly excellent at reminding me to pray. But I just installed the app on my iPad and did not appreciate the mandatory survey to fill out score I get the prayer times. Please make it an optional thing for Users who want the extra features

Thought would be free but have to forced to pay
“I’m Committed”
This has been my favorite Salah app for years now. I’ve even recommended it to friends and family. However, the new “I’m Committed” pop-up is really frustrating & wastes time, making my experience on the app less pleasant.
BEST APP EVER MASHALLAH
I used to never pray and yes, I did make lies saying “oh I didn’t know time for it.” And I get it and it was pretty back back then but now I’ve been praying for 4 days in a row! Amazing right? Allah has been so happy with me and I’m definitely saved from hellfire. Anyways, please download this app.
Annoying onboarding
Onboarding takes 5 years when I just want the prayer times absolutely ridiculous deleted the app
Great app but needs landscape mode for iPad
K
Doesn’t work
I just get a grey screen, tried reinstalling and going through a survey (guys we don’t need that) and got forced to sign up to premium as there is no other way to get past that screen. I don’t really know what’s happening or why the app keeps needing updates / redoing. It was pretty much perfect before. Also why do we need subscriptions, would happily do a one time donation or lifetime sub
No Option for Shia Prayer Times
I really loved the interface and even signed up for the subscription. However, ensuring accurate prayer times was nearly impossible. I understand there are many different calculation methods, but I was surprised to find that there wasn’t a single option for Shia prayer time calculations. I had assumed that including the Iraqi gentleman during the app setup meant the app would support Shia prayer times, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Historically, I’ve had to use multiple apps, one for accurate prayer times and another for prayer tracking and other features. I was hoping this app would finally replace that setup, and I would have gladly paid double the subscription price if it included reliable Shia prayer time calculations. Unfortunately, I’ll have to go back to using multiple apps.
Keeps you on track
An amazing app that keeps you accountable to your prayers.
Premium
It won’t let me do the thingie because it’s making me do premium but I am broke so I have no money to contribute but I would like to just do it for free pls
Amazing
Best app I could find for North America (simplicity/accuracy/ad free), however not very accurate when I travel to the Middle East, particularly Jordan where the athan can be heard and does not match. Otherwise an amazing app. Keep up the great work! :)
Used to be perfect
Used to be perfect! Can’t for some reason now mark prayers I have missed. It was used to help me catchup and this was the sole purpose of the app to me. Now it won’t even do that.
Not accurate
This app advertises “add free” but that’s only because you have to subscribe to use it. Not very direct
Must have
allows me to clearly see my prayers and got me into the habit of 5 day prayer
New 40 step on boarding??!?? (June 2026)
Edit: reinstalled this June, same problem. Ridiculous, will be using “Guidance” instead. Sorry lads. Original review: Ive been using pillars since it came out. It has always been advertised as a free, ad-free project. This Ramadan it has become ridiculous. 2 main problems. 1. This has been annoying me everyday but is not a dealbreaker per se: Every time I open it there are new pop-ups and slide-over screens advertising various charities and initiatives. Brothers, I don’t care! I’m just trying to check asr time and you’re adding a bunch of taps that slow down the UX. 2. This is egregious — I appreciate that the team has grown and they want to monetise (jibreel app looks really cool and I hope that it goes well for you and is successful and beneficial inshallah) but i was just trying to check suhoor times and there’s now some 40 step onboarding flow without anyway to cancel out of it. Idk if that’s a bug and the x was hidden but I had to tap random answers on so many screens just so it could try and sell me premium. Honestly, I 50% assume it must be a bug as I can’t imagine pillars becoming so user hostile. 3 - This is a bug and not my main gripe- The live activities view has a strange bug that it shows the time until fajr as a progress indicator that’s 50% full BUT the time-left says 0:0. Risky feature as people check it quickly and think they have time left to eat and drink. It’s a real shame to see that this is what pillars has come to. I hope it can be fixed and I’d be happy to change my review to being 5 stars but until then I think I’ll just vibe code my own version of pillarsV1 (or use one of the other apps I used to have before pillars came along)
Bad changes
Prior to the new release and feature the app was really good, the functionality was available without a subscription which was a really good and rare feature in an app. I completely understand the maintenance cost for the upkeep of this app but it shouldn’t hinder me from using the app by spamming with constant push for a subscription. I can’t even cancel the prompt, unless I go through all the options first. I respectfully request, to have an option of not choosing a subscription and a decrease on pushing subscription options each time I open the app. Jazakallah Khairun
Money money money!
MONEY!!
Unfortunately another money grab
Loved this app when it came out a couple years ago, they postured themselves as free, no ads prayer app with beautiful design. While that is still mostly true, they’ve started to charge for simple features like specific sized widgets and Apple Watch support. I’m a software engineer, these things have no recurring cost, once they’re built it cost nothing to run them (if it does, this is bad design, you can calculate prayer times on device) so it’s basically just a money grab. Unfortunate. And if you guys try to tell me there are costs for engineering, I mean give me a break, an app like this, there will be thousands of professional engineers (including me) who would be willing to maintain this app for free in their free time. Very unfortunate. I mean I had no problem with charging for the wallpapers, that’s just extra, non-blocking to the user. But now you guys provide widgets, you add them to your screen and it doesn’t show anything so you click it and it asks you to pay? Like cmon? That is so predatory, subhanallah.
soo motivating !!
This app has helped motivate me to pray everyday, Alhamdulillah. NO ADS. Saves your streaks. Prayer times have been accurate so far & optional notifications pop up to remind you. Very useful during Ramadan and recording missed fasts and prayers due to menses while keeping your streak. Love the consideration as it’s rarely seen in typical prayer apps I’ve heard of. ‼️I just wish that they would somehow allow my prayers to be transferred and synced to my other devices. This would really help Would highly recommend !
Instantly trying to upsell
Can't use the app without selecting "free trial" of the premium service at the end of the set up. Waste of my time.
good but buggy
+ prayer times after config are solid + fixed bug where homepage changed to ramadan page - consumes massive battery - ramadan page is a bloated page. I wouldn’t use it even if optimised, not my use case, but ideas: put the fajr-maghrib component first, then a github-like-activity tracker below but for fasts ✅❌, then the rest. make the paid sponsorship smaller but pop out with an animation and more context. - notifications, don’t send me ‘include me in your duas’ or ‘this day is blah blah donate/pray more’. not my use case. notifications are costly, they’re distracting, so when i grant prayers my notifications it’s a huge deal. you tarnish that and my attempt at setting healthy boundaries by defaulting new notifications.
The onboarding is WAY too tedious
What’s going on guys? Deleted the app as soon as I had downloaded it because I had clicked through like 30 pages or more. La Ilana illah allah. It should not be this difficult
Widget needs subscription
This would be a perfect app if not for the fact that you have to pay the subscription for the widget access. Just wanted it on my home screen. The whole reason I wanted this was so that I could see when the next prayer time was without having to go into the app and look.
Mashalah
Mashalah Mashalah
Its not free
Forces you to pay first month even if it says 14 days trail, your card will be charged ! Luckily i chose the monthly plan but now i am after my refund, i dont care how is the app, if you say free trail and free app dont charge ppl thats misleading, very unmuslim of you!
Amazing app I love it just one problem
I really love the app it’s sleek, very close to my local mosques prayer times and they’ve even decided to try an incorporate that in the future. However, I wish I could somehow synchronise between devices I have it on my iPad but always have to fill in my tracker on both because I mainly use my iPad since I’m a student and barely check my phone. Please this would make my life so much easier
Forced Premium Subscription
I’ve been using the app for years and now I’ve been forced to fill out a 15 minute survey which leads me to a screen where I have no choice but to sign up for premium. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it remains the same. This used to be the number 1 prayer app for me. This is disappointing as an early user — I encouraged many people in my community to use pillars but being forced to do a 15 minute survey (without backing out) and then being forced to get premium is a bad user experience. I ask that you correct this
App not working since the addition of paid option
I used to love this app; it was simple, straight to the point, with prayer time and qibla. Since the addition in the middle of Ramadan of the paid option, I think I have to go through the set of 10-15 questions leading to a request to move to the paid subscription six or seven times. The strange thing is that every time I say no, I'm not interested in the paid version, I'm on the free version, and then two-three days later the app doesn't work when I return to it. I have to go through it again and I cannot skip it. I have to go through the 15 questions again and then say no, I'm not interested. Therefore I decided to delete the app at this point. I will check at some point later if things are back to normal and I will happily go back to Pillars

Too Many Unnecessary Questions
I wanted an app to see Namaz timing but installing this app is a headaches. Too many unnecessary questions.

Onboarding sadist
Enough, wasting 5-10 minutes just to open the app
Insane onboarding
Let me preface this by saying I love this app ever since it came out. I love its simplicity and how beautiful it is. I wanted to share it with my elderly parents as well. I downloaded it and opened it and was greeted with a 20 something step onboarding so to without any ability to skip. At the end I was greeted with a try premium button also without any ability to not. I do not want another subscription. I want the simplicity this app provided before. At the end of it, we deleted it because my parents thought it was too complicated for them. What a shame.
Mr Abdulhamid
Perfect App for Muslims
Update
Remove the questionnaire or at least let me skip. I don’t want to answer a quiz! Just need my prayer times.
Hi
I really like this app a lot and it has helped me with my prayers and other stuff. The only problem is that it won’t send me notifications before the prayer so I can get ready it only sends me notifications right when it is time to pray. Also, I don’t think I can change what it says when it is time to pray I searched many times to try to find how to do this and I couldn’t
App always resets and make me go through starting process again might have to do with the widget
That issue is really annoying but when it works it’s good no ads as promised . Please fix the bug
Meh
App is good apart from it asking for new settings and preferences every 3 days when i just wanna see the prayer times
Love it!! 🥰
This app doesn’t force me to read Quran. This app has no ads. This app can show you the direction of where you are supposed to pray. This app gives you an option if you just want a notification when you have to pray, a notification AND athan, or just no notification at all. This app gives you questions when you first download it but they are useful. Without this app, I would struggle knowing when to pray. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Inappropriate
I was enjoying the app until an update attempted to force me to pay for the service. During Ramadan mind you. Cheeky.
Excellent app but not free anymore
I’ve been having this app for the last 5 yrs but now Not free anymore. Not even a basic
Stop forcing the subscription model
I was a huge pillars app supported but I genuinely don’t understand why at least twice a day the app kept basically forcing me to answer the questions about my spiritual goals which I had already answered just to be led to the part about subscribing to their paid version. I was always a pillars supporter for years but the force feeding of the subscription model is unlike any other app I’ve ever seen. So disappointed and I actually had to uninstall the app today
app: amazing but new update: frustrating
i love this app but what is this long long questionnaire I almost deleted the app over this I just want to see prayer times man. A design failure in my opinion - pretty but extremely frustrating to someone who just wants to track prayer times. Option to ignore premium also needs to be clearer, almost missed it and deleted the app thinking it was now hidden behind a pay wall. Other than awful update experience app has been 10/10 for many years - even though it is constantly asking to share your location…
Good app
Really love this app,it’s helping,In’sha’allah the creators of this app is blessed
Be careful , wrong prayer times
I been using this app for last 2 years only to find out that i was praying before the time. This app is so misleading. I checked other rival apps and they were all same time except Pillars. Dont download this app!!
Please stop ‘Ramadan spamming’ with charity requests
This is a wonderful app in every way, EXCEPT that during Ramadan it has started making charity appeals every single time I open the app. This is highly frustrating, as I have already set up automated giving through their preferred charity and it just feels like being spammed at the most spiritual time of the year. Brothers, if we’re using your app, we are already giving to charity! Please make it a once a day thing, or create a paid, ad-free version with a small fee. May Allah bless your noble intentions and increase you in all good. Jazak Allah khayr.
Frequent glitches for paid version
Every couple of days this app resets and has me fill in the preliminary questionnaire all over again just to see my prayer times. Bought the annual membership as it had a nice UI however it’s not worth the high price at all. For lifetime subscription, maybe, but annual is ridiculous. Too many glitches and and features aren’t refined enough. Cant even view my entire prayer habit tracker/backdate this.
going downhill?
this app started as a nice alternative to older apps that don't have much privacy but i think they're going downhill sadly. why do i need to give so much info when the app relaunches? why is there a subscription now?
