App doesn’t work, either does Algebra 2
Update! They contacted about my review. Gave me the way to fix it. It is working and I have tried it out. It is a wonderful way to develop algebraic thinking for anyone at any age!! 5 Stars!!
Do not download - App crashes and does not work
As of March 22 2026, this app does not work and keeps crashing. Just downloaded the app, and I paid for a full year subscription. After that the app just crashed. And it keeps crashing on restarts. Already paid for the subscription and cannot even use the app. Please fix this asap.

Sad
I’m very disappointed in this. I owned this game a few years ago before Kahoot! bought out DragonBox. It is ridiculous that I have to pay to play something I have used in the past. I will most likely end up buying this, but I am still upset about how the app was changed.
Well conceived game style with UX flaws and overly simple definition of "algebra"
Note: despite my critical review to follow, I still think you should give this to your kid to play. It teaches the very beginning concepts of algebraic manipulations in a way that kids can grasp at a much earlier age than is typically taught. The critical stuff: From what I can tell this game only covers the simplification of equations which is hardly the "basics of algebra." It is cute, fun, and addictive but is only tutoring algebra in the utmost basic sense. From what I can see, there is no real purpose to chapters and levels. Once you get past the introductory phase of the game, the chapters and levels all appear to be the same. There are some quirks, bugs, and just arbitrary unintuitive decisions in the UX. Too many to detail here but the most glaring one is the choice to place the card row behind the window drag bar making it extremely difficult to select a card without accidentally dragging the entire viewport. The artwork and general style of the game is catchy and well made. The smuggling of algebraic concepts via arbitrary symbols is clever. I'd love to see a version of this game that continues past the mere simplification of equations and on to actually doing algebra.

SCAMMM BEWARE!!!😵😡
I was happy to start my math journey, so I paid $20 for the buyout of this app! The second I clicked to create my account, the app shut down and stopped working. Now I can’t even open it! The code is that bad, but it’s funny how they can take your money and then just stop working. I wasted $20 as a college student and consumer! Please beware. It’s a SCAM, and its backend code is weak!
Money grab
I played the game a couple of years ago and thought as soon as I have kids in the right age, Ill let them play this game. Today was the day and I discovered that it was only playable with a subscrption now?! What the heck. 10 Euro per month which was a game for a couple of dollars before. Also the game has no sound and wasn’t updated for the newer iPhones where you have the gesture to switch apps on the bottom which leads to my kids closing the game once per minute or so. Money grab, can’t recommend.
You have to pay for it
This game was shown in a ted talk and i thou i might as well brush up on my high school math, but you have to pay six bucks a month for it. Rating this three stars because it looked like a genuinely fun math game in the ted talk and i was very interested to try it.
L-O-V-E!
Love this game
Crash alert
I downloaded the app today and it won’t open. It crashes repeatedly before it even gets started. I tried deleting and reinstalling with the same issue, and my phone is fairly new.
I like it
I’m not going back to the chess because of this game
Overly simplified
By the time your child is ready for algebra, they should already know addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. So replacing numbers with fish just makes the concept of algebra way more confusing than it needs to be. They know that 1-1=0. But why does fish+night fish=0? How do I explain that night fish cancels out fish if they aren’t touching box, but if they do touch box, suddenly night fish cancels out night fish, and fish cancels out fish? So much easier to build upon their previous knowledge of math, and they can see that 1 divided by 1 =1.
Great to introduce young
My 6th grader had a hard time getting basic algebraic equations so we downloaded this and now my 5 year old son is learning too! How awesome!
paid for the app already
i bought this app during lockdown when i was going to school full time and haven't used it since i passed my math class. 4 years later im trying to redownload it and it's a whole new app acting like i didn't already pay for the app before and i don't want to pay again it isn't fair i have to pay for it again. i bought both algebra apps back before kahoots owned the app when it was 5+ and 12+ and geometry but it isn't showing i bought it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My friend had her children doing this game and her kids super smart! I normally don’t get apps for my kids but it teaches them about algebra
Spelling errors
Hard to spend $20 on an educational app that has spelling errors. You have a “no trail” and a “7-day free trail”. What kind of trail? Is it a trail where we go hiking? Did you mean “trial”? I think trial was on my second grader’s spelling list. If you can’t even have someone proofread your most basic app screen, how am I supposed to send you $20??
Dragon box
I looovve it!
Paid but still can’t play
A frustrating waste of time and money. I purchased algebra 1 one time for a bit over $20 opted for the one time purchase but I continually get the message that I don’t have any games. No customer service to speak of they take the money and run.
Fantastic! I would pay more for additional puzzles.
This game is beloved by my math loving son, who learned algebra with a great deal of help through this app. I wish there were 10x as many puzzles! There's enough puzzles to introduce each concept (and it's really broken down to tiny incremental conceptual steps brilliantly) but not enough to get to mastery once all the concepts are introduced. I'd happily pay for additional puzzle packs beyond the existing ten levels! Just give us more exercises!
Incompetent rip off artists
Bought this for $19.99 and after a few days it completely stopped working. Every time I start the app, it prompts me to purchase a plan again, then when I go through the flow to repurchase, Apple says that I already purchased it, then when it prompts me to “get it again for free” the app gets stuck forever on a loading spinner. The programmers of this app have no idea how to implement the functionality to allow customers to use the app that they have paid for. Do not under any circumstances give these people your money.
Absolutely wonderful
So much fun
Apps shouldn’t be listed as free unless they’re truly free
It’s not good product design to list something as free on the App Store and gate the experience immediately. If you offered a lite version or limited features with a pay to upgrade in app purchase I would be all on board. But this did not.
Epic.
This game is awesome! It helped my 13 year old in algebra!
Bait and switch
I literally already bought this. Now it’s rereleased as the same game for more AND I have to pay again? AND it collects my data for the privilege.. Hard Pass
