Still trying to figure it all out
I’m happy to have Microsoft Defender. It lets me know when security issues might arise. However, I still have a few kinks to work out.

Doesn’t work for iPhone/iPad
Constant “Something went wrong” error so unable to see notifications on iOS devices. VPN works, but slows down phone.
Works, but has Limits & Annoyances
Microsoft Defender “just works” apparently, but has few details of its findings. Having used this family of defense tools for years on Windows, I expect nothing less—and it seems to deliver! But the incessant nagging to purchase identity insurance or sign up for Credit Monitoring (even though I already have that through other means) gets old rather quickly! Each new “update” of the app via the App Store causes the user to march through “suggestions” all over again—or put up with the indicator on the app (which may cause the user to miss actual alerts of successful protection from malicious code). Come on, Microsoft, give us an option to decline once & for all the repetitive push to sell identity insurance & protection services!

Location Privacy concern
The app claims it can see, “names of Wi-Fi networks (SSIDs) near you and their associated MAC addresses.” If this is true, this app can be used to locate and track any user.

Many times, I don’t understand what your security issues are saying about my account. In addition being able to manage such security issues seems too daunting many times. It would be nice if you dumped it down for people like me. Thank you.
Defender is not working
Receiving a “oh something went wrong issue” Dendender will not work until it’s resolved. Please review!
Bug report
Defender continuously notifies me that my device is not protected. However, it is. I also use Malwarebytes for iOS security. It is on and active. That means my device IS protected. Please address this bug by scanning for other malware apps running and only show the ‘ not protected’ alert if indeed my device is not protected.
Update
I could not get the dark web thing to work. But I then deleted the app, and reinstalled. For some reason it not works. It’s proving to be one of the more useful apps. And it has a VPN I think.

VPN Leak
The vpn included in the iOS version leaks the IPv6 tunnel. So I use another one but still keep this.

No app security
Once you sign into the app for the first time. There appears to be no security on this app whatsoever. There’s no four digit code to lock this app. There’s no facial ID to lock and open this app. There’s nothing. So anybody that gets a hold of the iPad can just open the app and see all the information that’s in here. That seems to be a huge flaw for an app. That’s supposed to be there to help you to protect your information. There should be at least a minimum four digit code in a facial recognition ability to open and lock the app. Every single legitimate app has those abilities. Lord in heaven get with the times.

VPN always breaks
More often than not the VPN causes issues. Just now I was unable to even open the app because the VPN stopped working. Then, the app just keeps nagging me to turn it back on and internet stops working again. I love MS but this is border line spam

Is there a built in Firewall or VPN connection ?
Not recommended for iPhone 17.
The VPN messed up my internet and WiFi.
More hindrance than help
Defender is all well and good for general monitoring e.g. Email, but a positive hindrance when trying to use the Internet or apps. It would be bad enough if it just slowed things down, but too often common websites cannot be accessed and apps fail to load.

What’s the Point
I am constantly getting “You have 2 unresolved issues…” Yet when I go to the app, “Everything looks Great!” There is nothing to resolve. Pick a lane Microsoft. Either there’s a problem or there isn’t. My last issue was 18 months ago, so if I have issues (well, computer ones anyway), show me.

Terrible performance after latest update
It had been working just about ok but after today’s update my internet access is truly awful. DNS errors not finding websites I know to be safe and have visited literally hundreds of times. Very disappointing
Keeps Disabling itself
I use this but found it keeps disabling itself so have to re-enable it. Probably have to look at using an alternative.

Not good at all for me
If you want Microsoft 365 then it’s for you I don’t need that for my phone. I just wanted the defender for the safe browsing online. I no that is good as I use only that on my pc.

Notifications
Notifications not go away when completed. Very annoying. I have reported it but haven’t heard back from anyone on how to fix it. Not liking the app at all. Considering changing to a different provider.
VPN notification
The repeated notification from Defender that my iPhone isn’t protected because I don’t have vpn enabled is becoming annoying. Is there any plan by Microsoft to connect this long standing bug?
It might work!
With VPN on it slows down the connection so much it’s not worth having, which explains why I say it might work. And I have a 1GB connection so it’s not that!!
Badges
I frequently get ‘badges’ (small red circles with numbers) showing on the app with no apparent reason. I expect these to be a flag for unread notifications but there’s nothing showing when I open the app.

I’d have this on all the time, but it effects local LAN addresses/smart home devices and services. You should build an option to disable it behind selected wireless networks.
Loving the interface however does slow down the internet speed
As a Full Time accountant and part time streamer internet speeds is vital for me. Microsoft defender slows the internet speeds down especially in the area I’m from. Quick switch connections is poor in my opinion and could do a lot better. Has a lot of potential so I’m keeping the application. Cheers Microsoft 🍻
It’s fine, but no regionalisation
Does what it says on the tin well enough. But it is a shame, for one, that Microsoft can’t sort out regional date formats in notifications and elsewhere within the app. Not everywhere uses the US’s MDY 👎; lot more use DMY.

Continually causes connection issues and slow connection
While I really like the extra security, it completely disconnects from WiFi all the time and also causes really slow connectivity. This occurs on private and corporate networks and my device is always on the latest builds on IPhone and Defender. Wish it was more stable and reliable but have to disable it if I want to use WiFi.
Needs Dark Mode support
If you guys are Dark Mode Support, I’ll give you five stars a nap. The app works great. Glad to know there’s protection out there for all the fishing scams and SMS scams that are going on
Kills Wi-Fi
Uninstalled as it kills my WiFi speed compared to another iPhone without it installed on the same WiFi. I’ve now gone back to Norton 360 which has a much more reassuring on demand VPN and also doesn’t throttle your internet connection speed.
Latest update problematic
Since the latest updates 30% of my battery was used by Defender, internet wouldn’t load for many services

Needs fixing
I’ve been using this since it was first launched, no issues. Unfortunately, since the last update. App connections to the internet, has become seriously impacted & degraded. Had to disable, once I did everything worked as normal. 4/8/2024 update still struggling to connect online.
