Fantastic App
The software is very user friendly and the courses made my studies enjoyable. I used BGS for both my PPL and ATPL theory exams and the way that the material was presented and structured helped me understand the content a lot better than just reading it from a book. The new AI function is quick and simple to use, really useful to quickly look something up. I could plan out my studies using the progress graph inputting my desired start and end dates. Thank you BGS!
Doesn’t work
Despite claiming “updates available”, it refuses to download any lessons and they all appear as “item unavailable”.
Very helpful for your ground school training
Very nice app for your ATPL EASA training with very good structured and well explained courses. The topics are easy explained so you can understand even the most difficult ones, which saves a lot of time. Also it includes a question databank, at which you can practice and train your knowledge. One disadvantage is the fact that the app requires a huge storage space in order to download the courses and sometimes it is also lagging. In total I absolutely recommend you to download the ATPDigital, as it helped a lot with my own ground school training!
Low Quality app: BGS Need to do better
27 January 2026: I was sorely disappointed in this app, considering the cost of the course. I was expecting a slick app with well thought out graphic design to help reinforce the learning (something similar to The Skyway Code, which was designed by a proper design agency). Instead, we have what are essentially powerpoint slides, with squashed photos, no links to documents mentioned in the texts and tiny unenlargable images with pertinent information. You can't even select text for a google search. There is no dark mode and you can't use the cursor keys to progress the slides, which should be basic functionality. Really poor show for the money. Please hire a design agency to redesign it.
Not bad or great
The pictures are often squished and the default font size is very tiny like a software coder was involved with design aesthetics. If I increase the font to normal, some of the text superimposes with nearby text. When I contacted support to help them understand the product snuck out the door without basic design/formatting QA, they put an enormous burden on me to explain the squished pictures like they don’t want to look themselves or don’t have access to the product. On a positive note, the practice exams are good and that is where most of the student pilot learning actually happens.

very good startup if one is attempting for ATPL/ATP/CTP exams.
Needs to improve
Have had to reinstall 3 times, not really ipad optimised. Very slow updates. Hangs during update. Ranks as one of the most unreliable apps ive used. Never seen an app that makes you keep on the top during hour long updates. Needs a refresh. The content is OK for ATPL. PC version little better
Do not update!
Since the last update login takes ages, I get thrown out randomly and all my previous test exams are gone…

Se cae continuamente
La aplicación se cae continuamente, no sigue correctamente tu progreso y para poder seguirlo es necesario contactar todo el rato con el soporte técnico, estudiar con esta app es un total atraso.
Inactivity timeout useless
The inactivity timeout randomly appears after 2 seconds or so. Making the app virtually useless as one constantly has to switch attention and confirm to continue with te lesson! Fix ASAP PLS.
Great but needs improvement
Great app, best there is but desperately needs dark mode. App also kicks me out every few days so days and requires me to log in again.
Poorly organised and terrible optimisation
This is one of the most poorly optimised applications for revising for ATPL exams. Considering the price of this, I just recommend going to ATPQ and using Airplane tech talks on youtube to study. This app has never run perfectly, there is always some sort of issue. And the issues I had weren't just from one device, but two, sometimes three when I swapped over. And many peers of mine have had recurring issues that went unresolved, and continue to be even after days or sometimes weeks of troubleshooting. Also the explanations in your ATPL lessons are so long winded, and have several grammatical errors. Which over complicate the concepts rather than explain it in a precise and concise manner. More words ≠ Better explanation. Also because the explanations are so overly complicated and convoluted, a lot of the filler information is disregarded. But some of it is actually tested, so it just increases student workload and disencourages them from actually learning this, and trying to instead remember the question bank.

I can login with my username and password on the website but not the app for some reason??
Terrible application
For the amount you pay, you’d expect a lot better quality. The app is buggy, closes on itself, updates don’t go through, the question bank works worse than the web version, which is already terrible.
Constant crashes
Constantly crashes, losing my progress or tests. Makes studying using Bristol ground school so much more difficult and time consuming. Completely unacceptable.
The app crashes all the time
Can’t do any quiz, it crashes continuously and can’t update the db. I can’t even open it now. What should I do to do my course?

Way too may bugs on this app. Quizzes wont open at all.
Endless bugs, very slow
Crashes during updates. Logs out at random for no apparent reason after only very brief periods. Tap a greyed-out button and the entire app freezes. Some problems require a reboot of my iPad - restarting the app is sometimes insufficient (it can crash repeatedly as soon as it is reloaded). The features that do work are often very slow. Exams, for example, don’t seem to buffer any questions, so each one has to load, frequently very slowly. As a result it’s easy to tap the next button a second time and skip a question. This also happens in the course materials - I realised that I skipped some pages by mistake because they took so long to load, and I got impatient and hit the button again. During the quizzes and exams, it looks like a separate DB query is running each time, rather than caching a group of questions in memory… I can’t imagine what else would cause such a delay, for each and every question. Minor gripe - no option to save or change my password. This can only be done with the desktop application, which is less than ideal
