- Paid version is buggy or worse
- Cannot add tracer to saved videos
Grate
This app is so fun to use for golf it is easy to use and it is fun to see what your shots looked like
Not tracking
I’m not sure if it’s user error but every time I try and use the app it doesn’t track my ball. Everything is lined up correct and still nothing.
Good but over heats
It’s a good app, but you can only use the tracer feature for a couple of minutes in the summer. Could this be changed?
Only real time
Would be much more practical to be able to add tracer to existing videos
No family sharing
The app is ok. Pretty much requires a blue sky to work though. No family sharing, so that's pretty damn tight of the developer. Gets 3⭐️ because not a subscription model
Beyond cool
I had zero expectations trying this out. However, I was blown away when I tried it out. It works really good - at least from what I’ve seen in regards to wedges. Really fun, accurate way to see your ball flight. My kids got a kick out of it too. I don’t know how you did it, but awesome job to whoever developed this program.
Absolutely rubbish
1 star Absolutely terrible. I paid for the Pro version specifically to add tracers to videos I’d already recorded, and the app doesn’t do what it advertises. Every time I import a video, it skips the editing process and goes straight to a useless Share screen with no way to create a tracer. I’ve wasted my time trying every possible fix. The interface is confusing, there are no clear instructions, and for a paid app this experience is unacceptable. Save your money and use something else until the developers fix this.
SmoothSwing 4 star
When I use the tracker, it doesn’t track my ball. I don’t use pro. I will find a way to fix it. But love the app!
Can’t Upload Videos From Gallery
Great app great idea for an app I paid for the pro version thinking I would be able to upload videos from my gallery to use the tracer on, but for some reason it lets you upload a video and you can only see the share button. can’t submit or confirm. not sure if that’s a bug or not. Same with recorded video from camera too. Maybe I’m doing it wrong
Tracker limit
From the tee box, The tracer and its shadow are good for about a hundred yards. The tracer line makes it look like a lay-up instead of where the ball actually lands.
Review
It’s a good app but it only works with white balls other than that it’s great
Terrible
Paid $10 for the app and you can’t use it when its hot!!?!? The game of golf is played mostly in the summer!! Its ridiculous! Terrible purchase
Almost Perfect
This app is EXACTLY what I want. The only thing it needs, and I REALLY hope they come out with an update is horizontal layout as an option. Vertical is fun for looking on the phone and reviewing, but I would love to incorporate these tracers into some fun golf videos for YouTube and the vertical ratio just won’t cut it. Would literally pay more up front for that added feature cause it’s so simple as is and that’s what I love about it.
Heat issue
Love this app, but it gets hot and doesn’t work way too often. No matter the temperature, direct exposure to sunlight completely disables the tracer. Golf is played outdoors in the sunlight. Hopefully they can fix the issue or make a suggestion as to what I can do to help. This issue also seems to be getting much worse. Surprised there’s been no response to the heat comments.
The best tracer 20% of the time.
You can’t even use it without it overheating. My phone camera is perfectly fine. It’s not overheating. Fix it or bypass. It’s the best free tracer out there if it wouldn’t overheat after every video.
Golf app
Amazing Golf app
Why have to pay
Why do you have to pay for the app to track the ball like WHY do have to
Amazing
Great amazing app no subscription non of that just a shot tracer and other features def one of the best golf apps
Review
I’ve seen that it’s free for the trace but when I try to import a video from camera roll is does not trace?
Not for yellow balls
I was hoping to use this app but all of my local ranges use yellow balls and the app does not work.
It’s great
It’s great. It works in real time. But please can you add landscape mode? If you’re trying to use this to make a YouTube golf video that’s the only thing that’s holding you back. It can only to portrait mode
scam
it won’t even let me import the video after i buy it 😭
BBC
The ball doesn’t always track
No camera roll option
Cannot use videos from your camera roll which is very disappointing.
Only traces white balls
It works well if you don’t use yellow balls. In Vegas where the sky is light it’s hard to see white balls so were use yellow balls. This will not work
Love it
Fun and easy to use
Terrible
Wouldn’t even let me use the shot tracing until I bought it with 10 dollars. PAY TO PLAY
Awesome app
Granted, it’s not pro level tracers. Or golftube post production levels. But that aside, it’s crazy how good this app is. Simple. Intuitive. And quite accurate. Some little quirks. But hands down the best tracer app out there. If the devs are checking comments, the thing that would absolutely vault it to 5-star status is a landscape mode. Other fine tuning would be appreciated. But the simple addition of landscape tracers would be a game changer.
Free Version is better than the Paid Version
I really love this app so I decided to buy the paid version so the logo doesn’t show. I’m sorry to report that the paid version is worse than the free version. The free version tracked accurately and better than the paid version. If I do a practice swing and clip some grass it’s tracking the grass and not the ball. I’m not sure what’s happening but I want to switch back just take the money as a donation!
Review
After the first 3 times the tracer would not work but before that the tracer was really accurate
Greatest app to ever exist🥹
Totally free range finder, and ball tracker.
Great that the tracer is FREE won’t work unless you’re playing at the North Pole though
Cool that the tracer is free to use but I can’t even use the app because it claims the temperature is too high to use even though it’s only 83 degrees in Texas right now and I’m in the shade… fix that and I’ll up my stars on the review. I downloaded it and immediately had to uninstall because it’s completely useless to me since it won’t let me record or anything due to temperature when my phone isn’t even hot…
Works but overheats phone
I can only get the app to run for 20 something seconds before it overheats my phone. Tried on both iPhone 14pro and iPhone 15. Sad.
Fail to trace shots
For the past few rounds the app unable to trace white ball. It would be great if the app can function during energy saving mode.
Over heating
I get like 3 to 4 tracers and then it tells me my phone is to hot. Other than that it’s a good app.
Dustin
This app is the best because you don’t have to pay for it once you download it
Worst app
I paid 10 dollar and it was ment to track my ball but never did it’s a scam don’t buy unless they fix it because i did it correctly and i hope they make a better video also
Doesn’t do what it says
With all respect the tracer is so good but the other stuff that comes with it are within hidden purchases
Meh
It tracked my shots but Jones of the good ones but when I thinned one or two try ey tracked them fix it pls
Heat issue
The app works great as long as you’re not golfing on a nice day. If it detects the sun with any heat the camera won’t let you record. Your actual phones camera is perfect fine but SmoothSwing takes it upon itself to tell you it’s too hot 🤦🏽♂️. It’s fairly accurate when it is capturing shots though so I will keep using it when possible.
Works pretty well
These posts that say it doesn’t work must be cheesy competitors who can’t build a better app so they resort to lying in the reviews. It has its flaws and the UI is a bit dated but it generally works. Also the tracing is free? You don’t have to buy it trace so?…
Doesn’t work
Tried multiple times, multiple ball colors (white should be only one that works but didn’t so I experimented with others) followed instructions for the tracer and it never worked.
Very clever
The ball tracker is very clever and useful but the range finder could be improved. There are too many white lines which obscure the satellite image and make it hard to see the greens and bunkers. If it was made less fussy, with only thinner lines at 100 yard intervals I would’ve given it 5 stars.
This is a rip off
The shot tracer isn’t free and the gps only works if you have WiFi.
Shot tracer recording
I have not used the full functionality of this app as I only purchased it today. So my rating is neutral. The main reason why I bought it was so I can track the flight and direction of my ball while practicing on the range to prevent me from lifting my head. Although it allows me to track a single shot while recording, it would be nice if it could track multiple shots on the one recording by filtering through the colours. Is it possible to track more that one shot when recording?
Life Saver for Golfer with Diminishing Eye Sight
I was an avid golfer until CRVO took my vision away although I get injections to help I can no longer pick up my ball flight. This app has allowed me to see my ball flight and in my last round only lost one ball. LOL even a great app does not keep me out of the lake. One cool addition would be a yardage indicator but knowing the direction is 90% of the battle. Thank you SmoothSwing
Not sure working with iOS 26
Just downloaded the app and paid for the paid version and the app is not recording or working properly. iOS 26
Mostly very good
Works 90% of the time. Will struggle in very cloudy or dark conditions Would be good to add: More animations, eg trailing line / distance meter like in shashot. I would not be opposed to pay a small monthly fee, eg 0,99 per month for that. Also add manual editing of the shot height after the recording
The tracker isn’t good
The app is kinda good but the Tracker does not work at all, I did everything it wanted me to do and it still didn’t work
Untried live as yet
Bought this app expecting to be able to trace shots from my phones saved videos. There’s not much in the way of guidance once you purchase on how to use and its features. Bit disappointed 👍
