What people like
- No monthly subscription fee, just one time payment.
- Really helps find lost Bluetooth items nearby.
- Works exactly as the description says it will.
- Clean look that is better than other nerdy apps.
What they complain about
- It crashes constantly on both phones and computers.
- You cannot rename devices to remember what they are.
- The map zoom feature is broken and annoying.
- It shows confusing codes instead of clear device names.
Investigate away
This is a Bluetooth investigator for all your pet detectives. Go find your things that are missing 5of5 for sure.
Crashes on iOS 26.2
Crashes a lot when trying to Send any kind of message. To my ESP32-C3 iOS 26.2 with iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Good Scanner - Needs Edit/Naming
I’ve got a couple Bluetooth scanner apps and so far I find that it has the best feature set and frankly a very nice look (nerdy apps don’t have to be ugly…) But, it is missing an editing feature - being able to name devices so I’m not guessing what is what on future scans would really be super helpful. Especially when a get more than a dozen “Unknown” devices and once I figure out what they are I can’t tell the app so it shows me It’s “xyz sensor” going forward
Need work
App crashes constantly. Even after I paid for pro.
Sending writes stopped working
I was using this to program my blinds after I connected Somfy Sonesse to Zigbee for my Home Assistant. Now when I try to write, the app just crashes.
Haven’t deleted it yet so..
Does what it’s advertised to do… I’d like to see some more powerful apps from you please!
BT Inspector
This is a useless app as is … when you pay for the app, you really get nothing …. GPS info is collected but not displayed in Session dump, You cannot rename/customized BT entry, no user document, the developer has no easy way to feedback to him …. Things to add and improve: 1) Allow changing the name of a BT device to indicate what it is (ex: Bill iPhone, John TV, etc) - Store that info so when it seen again, you know. 2) Add the GPS position to each device in the Session dump file 3) Allow blocking or non-display of known BT device(s) (ex: do not display your personal devices, just everybody else, etc) 4) Add link to developer feedback for the app 5) Provide and allow adding a picture for device (ex: if it a phone, use a icon for a phone, if a printer, icon for a printer you can add) 6) Store all this data on phone and cloud where ever so it inly entered once. 7) Show MAC instead of useless UUID. UUID is no value. MAC address is needed else this app is a total waste of money. Thank you
Works great
When Bluetooth is turned off, BT Inspector is somehow attempting to scan for bluetooth, even with background app refresh turned off system-wide 🤨
Works Nicely but…
After leaving it open for a while scanning, it used all of my ram and had to force quit most things open to get back to working. Must have a memory leak somewhere. Other than that, very useful and love it. Still keeping it.
Helpful, but could use work.
I am trying to find a lost AirTag that i lost two years ago. Apples find my app won’t cut it so I spent 4 dollars for the pro version of this. Just saying it isn’t worth it, but it could be if you add these things: a bar that fills up from left to right to show signal strength, this way you could check how close you are and it’s easy to understand. Also add a distance meter, and also on map, allow you to click the dots to see what device it is. Also an option to Pin devices would be nice. This would help tremendously in my search for a long lost AirTag, and it could definitely help in so many other ways. I just hope this gets added because I just paid $4 for a map that barely even works.
Novice
Pretty cool app learning as I go.
Did not work.
Don’t pay for this
Premium Bluetooth application
I really liked this application. It almost dumps data from nearby devices. Everything the description states it does - it really does but here are the application short comings….while the description states what’s the application can do and its features there is not full guide of the various data types that are being inspected. Next, is the map while you can zoom in/out - the level doesn’t stay and immediately zooms back out - pretty annoying especially when I’m in a small building or amongst a crowded area. No other gripes from but George - seriously: I can help you write a guide - If you’d like me to show you some of my work I can e mail you.
Needs Improvement for Developers
For developing BLE apps, this would be much more useful if it would refresh the supported services of a device without having to uninstall and reinstall the app.
Something is wrong
I know I can’t expect much on iPhone side, but I do expect it to be functional in some way. I have purchased the pro version, but it doesn’t seem to have improved things. It might just be the area that I live in. I hit scan, and I get about 80-100 devices listed as Unknown in an unknown area around me. Even interrogating everything, does not update the screen, but I get requests from all my neighbors iPhones and iPads to connect to my phone. What it does not do is find or connect to my Bluetooth speaker sitting 5 feet away. This is not useful. It seems that I don’t have all of the controls or the ability to go further into the app. Or access to support. The map would be useful if I could zoom in closer than a 1000 square feet so all I see is my location buried under a cluster of unknown devices. I don’t know what it would look like on other devices but if this is it for the iPhone then I am just not impressed. Sorry, but I really did want it to succeed because I need the information it promised and all I got was glitch. Update: I still cannot get any other information about this app. I figured out how to work the app and it works a bit more stable on a newer device. But in the end, all it tells me is that I am surrounded by a bunch of unknown and unconnected devices. I can’t tell if they are disrupting my connections to my equipment or not or where they are because the map covers several city blocks and won’t zoom in further to a useful distance of just my building. And again, I can’t tell if that is a design feature or a glitch because I have no documentation to show me basic information about this app.
best ble app out there
tried many. all suck. this one is great. too busy using it to write a long review. finally, after years of searching, i've found the holy grail.
Annoying map bug
I purchased this mainly because of the estimated location map view. However there is an annoying bug where I can’t zoom in nor out, if I pinch-zoom in, it works but as soon as I let go it takes me back to a default view where i can hardly see anything in terms of device numbers. Please fix.
Nice
Would love support for more types of signals eg WiFi but a really good app just needs a little work
Completely Unusable
Even with a device actively selected, the list of devices re-sorts itself constantly and the selection is only preserved by index, not by device ID. I have no idea who thought this would be an acceptable UI choice but it is not. It also rainbow pinwheels constantly, requiring a force quit.
What’s in a name?
Love the app. Everything I wanted but the ability to apply a ‘friendly’ name to a device. Don’t need to use this often, but when I do it’s hard to remember what ‘name’ is what device so it creates a lot of ‘noise’ trying to isolate on a specific device. Would but it if it could do that, otherwise still looking.
Fantastic
I’m able to control battery levels of things plugged in and also turn off appliances that are on all the time eating a little power. Why does it have to be connected?
Not working
Not sure if this got updated or not but tried installing and it doesn’t work. Like the app can’t even start ask for permission and there no options for it then it saids change setting in app wich tells you you need to go to system settings and change security to allow it but when you click on it it take you to app settings and tells you go back to app to change settings an endless loop of not working
Example on shortcut to write character value
Can you put a screen shot to show how to use shortcut to automatically write character values ?
Promising
App looks very promising but it’s limited. It would be great to have access to low level information on discovery and capabilities of the bluetooth device. Adding aliases for long uuid numbers also would be helpful, especially that it often doesn’t fit single line in the application interface. Application also uses own way of organizing the characteristics for display, not following alphabetical or definition order. Could be useful to change order how app displays long list of characteristics. I would buy the editor for values if it would help to write complex hex codes. An example I want to write one characteristic with little endian float value. And other characteristic with unsigned integer in big endian. If I should pay for writing a value, app should offer some additional value to it. In the end if app could remember uuid and display selected by user between different devices and sessions in application would be very handy. I am looking forward to use the app.
Impressive App with a Privacy Concern
I don’t know what “interrogation” means. But somehow, I was able to connect via Bluetooth with 2 Apple Watches, an iPad, and two iPhones that weren’t mine! I wonder what shows up to these devices and how much of my information is exposed to them. The app helped me recognize that someone was spying on me in a hotel. I’ve been hearing weird sounds coming from the wall behind my hotel bed. The floor map showed a small area that was behind the wall, but isn’t in the room. That was weird because the wall was a dry wall, this means that anything that happens inside my room can be heard from the other side. So creepy. I was very impressed to know that the person spying on me was wearing an Apple Watch and had an iPhone 14 Pro. I paid for the pro version because I saw that I can send messages but that wasn’t true. I couldn’t send any messages to any devices and this is why I gave it three stars. I don’t like to be misled or scammed. The pro version connected my device to so many other devices and i was so creeped out. I’m sure they can know or see something that can show the name of my device at least. This information and all details must be shared with all app users.
Amazing App
Great for networking
Buried Summary
Of the several hundred available devices, summary information can only be gained by opening one device at a time. It is a fools task. Having a UUID filter alone would improve things.
Strange, perhaps unethical but impressive
How is this even legal? How does this work? How is it even legal, ethical? Is it safe to tap 'interrogate'? I do not particuarly like the interface and I am wondering how this is even legal yet still in awe of how amazing it works... Moreover, when i tapped it, it starts showing my laptop as 'connected' to several nearby devices even those that were not mine...
Not really a good app
It doesn’t really do anything much except make someone paranoid! It shows all the so called devices but you can’t block them or get any info on them
Question
When you interrogate are they seeing your device name ? If it says my iPad name is Steven iPad , will they know Steven iPad is trying to connect
Found my lost sensor
I have over 30 Govee temperature sensors. I name them by the location I put them in. Well I lost track of one sensor because it got switched with another sensor when I was changing the batteries. Then that lost sensor started showing a humidity level of 75%. So I needed to find that sensors location. I removed the batteries from all the Govee devices I could and then launched BT Inspector. It did not take long to figure out which BT device was my lost sensor. I started walking around watching the BT signal increase and decrease. Walking towards the stronger signal location I got within 6 feet of the sensor. At that point I remembered where I had placed a sensor. I was able to find the high humidity and deal with it. Using the BT Inspector I have been able to get within 6 feet of a device. At that point the signal stops changing enough to narrow the device location down any further.
Needs tp be update
Constant crashing on Sequoia, no updates in a year, is this a dead app?
Being spied on
This unit works fairly well it would be worth it’s weight in gold if it gave the phone number or the Bluetooths gmail/ emails name aka the owners Name also!!!!
Not good for detecting spyware
Everything is unknown and it only gives you UUID which is impossible to trace
Amazing app, though having issues with crashes
This app is amazing, one of the best bluetooth-related apps i've seen on the app store. Though, it crashes very often, on MacOS when viewing a device's details, and on iOS when there's too much nearby devices (usually more than 50.) This makes the application almost unusable. This is on iOS 17.1 (17.1 Beta 1) and MacOS Sonoma (14.1 Beta 1).
Worth it, even if you don’t know why.
I personally use it all the time, and it pretty fun to just run it in a crowded environment and see everything nearby, like, someone brought their BT speaker onto the plane I’m on. I don’t feel like writing a full review, but one last thing, I like the pro add on, I bought it and am not disappointed, although I don’t know how to use it.
Stupid
It don’t work
Could use more stuff
Sorry for it being 4 stars but i am having trouble finding my black shark Lucifer t2 earpods what I recommend is adding the name and etc so it can be a bit better thanks for understanding
Crashes and locks up often on macOS
This app works rather well on iOS, but on macOS it crashes and locks up often. Hopefully this gets fixed because it is an otherwise useful utility.
Mixed feelings
The App listed all kinds of BT services from my neighbours' TVs and soundbars, but did not find the BT speaker in my office, that was in Pairing mode.
Truly amazed!
I’m not a review writer but I DO need to read them from time to time so this is my way of giving back. ☺️I’ve been looking for something like this in the app store. It’s so hard to know what/who to trust (hence the need for this app). So far it seems I got lucky with my first choice. I might upgrade because I’d like a log I don’t have to create… but the free version starts right up and is easy to understand.
Unusable, constantly crashes
Within a minute of opening the app it becomes unresponsive and crashes.
I like it
This app is very clean and works well however wish it supported notify for BLE.
All devices unknown
Finds lots of devices, but all „unknown“, no information except for the signal strength. In iOS bluetooth settings, the names are displayed.
Disappointment
The app presents a devices UUID but has no idea what a MAC address is. Given that it doesn’t seem to be able to interrogate the devices announced names. It makes it nearly impossible to know exactly what device you’re interrogating. This won’t work for me. Had to delete the app. ☹️
THIS APP IS THE TRUTHHHH
Rarely ever will I submit a review. BUTTT had to for this app. Being the most (maybe the only) useful app I’ve ever downloaded. It does exactly as claims in description. You will not be disappointed. Best part payment is one and done! NO monthly subscription. Discover any & all devices around you connect to them without user permission. VERY HELPFUL & FUN! ❤️Love itttt ♥️
Glad to give bad
I’m glad my good reviewing post didn’t even get posted because you don’t even deserve good reviews I wish I could give no stars like negative stars
420 results in a field
500 people in a field.. not sure what’s going on here! Not sure if this is peoples Mobile or the Graphene in the Jab ? Hard to tell…
Some kind of caching issue
The Name, Services and Characteristic properties all seem to get cached. Interrogating again doesn't help. Closing and reopening the app doesn't help. UART Write seems temperamental.
