I spent a good hour on multiple devices and had a few emails with support trying to even begin a photo project using Saal. I tried the ipad app but it won’t load, i used my MacBook to use the macOS software but there is no file there to download. I tried the website editor and just get a buffering screen that never loads. literally impossible to begin a project. How do they make money if nobody can even order something? Is this company still in business?

Mein 2. Fotobuch dass ich jemals erstellt habe. Mein 1. von Saal. Ich bin begeistert vom Ergebnis und der schnellen Lieferung. Da ich alles über das iPhone erstellt habe , musste ich mich zunächst mit App beschäftigen , was anfangs etwas anstrengend war. Aber mit ein bisschen Zeit und Mühe ging dann alles wunderbar. Das Ergebnis ist ein super super tolles Fotobuch für meine Mama !!! Echt klasse !
Leider dann doch nicht umsonst
Als das Projekt endlich fertig war, konnte es nicht mehr bearbeitet werden. „Speicherplatz voll. (2 GB) Sie können mehr Speicherplatz kaufen.“ Für gute Fotos reicht das nicht …
Impossible to switch portals
This app seems to work only with the Saal-digital.com portal. It would be nice to be able to connect to Saal-digital.de as an alternative in order to to place orders there.
WOW!!
I didn’t expect much from this app as most like it are very glitchy. It REALLY exceeded my expectations! I made my art into a professional photo book and the process was pretty self explanatory. The features were easy to use, pages were easy to reorder, and changing the layout of each page was a smooth process. They had great design options/features that were easy to add or subtract from my project. I had no issue with glitching or lagging, and I LOVED that they had an option for me to save my project and come back to it later.
Unusable
Really wanted to use Saal to create a photo book having seen some great reviews and products. However, the app is completely unusable. First it keeps crashing when trying to create a product so you can’t even get to the first stage, then when you do it pops up with a ‘no connection’ message every thirty seconds, and finally I can’t even save the photo book as the app crashes every time I try to create an account. Unfortunately I may have to look elsewhere.

lost my time
I’ve spent two weeks, making two books from my phone app. at the end turned my books into pumpkins and all my work was ruined. I couldn’t even get close to finish them. Please fix your app for phones and let people print their books without pain
Crashing
Besides taking a pretty long time to load presets and lagging out a few times the tools are a great use in the app. Sometimes however the images are lagging behind when you choose and background and try moving the image

I am so happy I discovered this app on social media and was able to finally create that beautiful photo album of my family’s trip! Great and user friendly app!
Nothing Works
I went to the app because the website is having issues. The app is even worse. Once I open it. It just goes to a buffering screen.
Nice but not convenient app for other countries
I ordered a photo book in Portugal, but had created it in the app, and when came to finalise it - it was for uk delivery only. So I had to send it there (and missed the birthday gift date). It took me ages to select and create, and I wasn’t doing it all over again. Imagine my disappointment when I find out, it was actually printed in Germany. Tell me how this makes sense. The quality of the book by the way was good. And I want to know why there is no eu app? I would like to create more, but if I can’t from my phone, I will unfortunately probably have to look at another service provider.

Nach guter Bewertung bei Chip wollte ich mein erstes Fotobuch über die Saal Design App erstellen. Ich musste zu Beginn des Projekts sofort alle Fotos hochladen, die ich auch im Buch sehen wollte. Ich wollte dann noch Fotos nachladen, dies war aber nicht möglich. Die App war für meine Zwecke leider unbrauchbar, so dass ich das Projekt inzwischen über ein Konkurrenzprodukt rasch und erfolgreich abgeschlossen habe. Ich rate Saal dringend dazu, die App zu überarbeiten.
Saal Mobile Handicapped
I saw this book on a DIY You Tube photo video and was blown away by the look. I constructed my book on the mobile app and my biggest complaint is adding text. You are limited by the preset pages they offer. It looks like it’s a different experience on a desk top or lap top but on an iPad it’s very frustrating. Maybe I add another star once the book is delivered. Stay tuned.
As easy as can be
Using this app was super easy. I have simply uploaded my photos and the app placed them into the album. Later I was able to rearrange and add some pictures if needed. I haven’t figured out hot to move pictures around and switch them but the rearranged set formats give you plenty of options. Can’t wait for the final product to arrive
get scam caught out
downloaded as was emailed free 100£ voucher and still have to pay over £8 posage and stupid vat added so over £20 for that i used another photobook app. such a con
First time review
Although I had some issues initially through the website, I switched to the app and it was easier to upload and edit each page! I did experience freezing a few times but I was working with 75+ photos so it’s to be expected. I loved the simplicity of the app and that i didn’t have a million editing options to be overwhelmed like other platforms. I’m super excited to receive it in the Mail and hopefully order more!

Bugs
I’ve not completed a project yet, it Keeps saying off-line but I’m not and when you can get online for a short period you get the whirly wheel it seems to take forever on every action and didn’t save my project, hopefully get this sorted
Great service
Great and easy to use app
very buggy and hard to use
This app seems like it’s great, but when you start to try to use it’s features it quickly shows it’s true colors. The photo album editing features are extremely glitchy, making it nearly impossible to customize a photo book. Trying to make a login caused the app to get stuck in a freeze loop of some sort and I had to restart. The way it crops photos in photo albums makes no sense, and when I tried to fix it the edits didn’t stay. Also the difference between the different ways to make a photo book isn’t clear at all — one seems to make full screen photos and the other makes collages? I have no idea. The company is also deceptive. Steer clear.
Nice deal
Never used this company before. Hoping the book is as beautiful as it looked online. Only thing I didn’t like was in the middle of my project I decided I wanted to add a page but couldn’t add where I wanted it. I could only add it to the end not the middle. There should be a button on every page where you can just add another page.
App doesnt work with all products
Overall a good app if you want to just print pictures, but if you want to design cards the functionality is broken. All pictures embed as landscape so you cant make portrait photo cards. You also cant add a second image, eg one on the front and a second image like product branding on the back as you cant resize or crop any images. Guess i will just have to use the desktop and online versions and not bother creating on my ipad

Looking forward to the product
I found the app a bit more difficult because I used it on my iPhone to create the book. Having said that I loved where the book inserted the pebble clip art I used and I found the application for text easy to use. It has a learning curve when switching layouts and photos. But excellent tutorials to view to assist. If you put the time in I imagine it will look great. If the finished product is as good as I think it will be I would rate it at 5. For me it’s the quality of the photo paper that matters.
Frustrated!!!! 😡
Please help 😫just recently I used the app to order some photos, which was no problem what so ever. I am trying to create to make a photo album and when I get to start designing my book. The app goes onto the price range via the website and then it is telling me to download the app which I already have and every time when I try to start again to start the design process it keeps on going back to the website telling me the same thing. If this can’t be sorted out then I will go to somewhere else.
Honest review
Update 2: I ordered a book from another website that was slightly easier to design than the Saal Digital book. Well, I just got it and am very disappointed, and wish I just went with the Saal Design book despite my past frustrations. The other companies lay flat book is not truly lay flat, pictures are not seamless and aligned, and we’re grainy. Saal’s quality was SO great compared to the other one, the pictures are actually seamless and look great. The book overall feels like much better quality. I do wish some changes would be made to the app but despite that I will still choose to order from Saal Design going forward. Update: Just received my book and I do think it’s a great book. Awesome quality pictures, I love the lay flat binding, and overall the whole book just looks and feels great. Very happy with the outcome but I would still need the app to be a bit more user friendly in order for me to order from here again. Original: I was given a voucher for a photobook in exchange for an honest review, and I’ll just say right off the bat if it weren’t for that voucher I would not have chosen this app to create my photo book. I will update my review once I actually receive the book, so right now this is just for the app itself. The app definitely has a lot of potential - there’s a good amount of options for layouts and covers, but creating my book was ridiculously frustrating. I don’t expect an app to be as thorough as the full desktop software, but it seems like there are simple things I should be able to do but can’t (or at least, can’t figure out how.) for example, in the app I couldn’t just resize the photos to fit how I want them to, and even though there are a lot of layout options, there were several times their layouts didn’t fit the way I want and just didn’t make sense. Another frustrating thing was that everyone I added or removed a photo, it automatically reset the text back to the default font and size. Also, adding font threw of the layouts in ways that didn’t make sense. The layout options when you add text was the same whether I have one line of text, or an entire paragraph, leaving a lot of blank space if i only have one line (and I never needed a whole paragraph so it was annoying.)This forced me to use a layout I didn’t want and mess up the size of the photos, or have a huge amount of blank space. I tried to add a photo or text to the cover I got an error and kept getting an error. And when I got to the end and decided I wanted a different cover since it wasn’t letting me a photo, I was unable to (or unable to figure out how) without creating a whole new book These things seem pretty basic and like they should be relatively easy to fix, so I will certainly keep an eye on it to see if things change in the future because it does have potential. Will update this once the book comes.

Just a little more work.
I like the concept of designing digital books for my clients. On the other hand, the amount of time it took to add and deleting photos just to generate a different layout is beyond exhausting. I should be able to choose my entire layout for each page including adding text next to photos without loosing an entire page to just a few words.

App won’t upload images
I am trying to use your app but it wont allow me to set up an account or upload photo’s. There’s no contact us, help or chat options to trouble shoot. I’d like to spend my money on your PhotoBook but sadly this is not possible.
Honest review
First time working with Saal. Received a voucher for $150 for a photo book, thought I would give it a shot. Being a professional photographer, I frequently build photo books and order prints from various sites. Saal’s app was hands down the most frustrating when it came to designing the actual pages. They have a lot of options, so I will give them credit, but changing one minor thing led to everything changing. For example, on the cover of the book. I wanted a very simple large title, with a small “By (blank)” underneath. When I added the original title, everything was fine. As soon as I attempted to add the small subtext, the entire layout of the cover changed and added a huge white box, then put the subtext at the top above the title, in larger font. I tried multiple different options to no avail. A similar situation unfortunately occurred when adding photos to the pages themselves. Like I said, hands down the most frustrating out of any photo book design software I have used. They have a lot of great options, which if able to be utilized properly, could possibly be one of the reasons to make a switch. Will definitely be keeping an eye on them in hopes for a more user friendly interface.

Crashed, all data gone
I selected all photos, went to the preview, and then the app crashed in the background, there is no state restoration, all my work is gone. This is bad software quality, disappointed. Seems this is a common theme in the reviews. tl;dr: Don’t use. Will swallow your data and leave you no better
Layout options and errors
Overall I believe that this is a great app. Part of the issue I was having may have been due to my own error. I uploaded 80+ pictures that were automatically placed into the book and when I went to move them around the app kept erroring out and closing. If you upload with each page rather than all at once it run much smoother. Layout options are nice just wish there was a more custom way for layout. Beyond that it seems to be a great app. Will update review once product is received

It’s good but could be better
I like the design options but I don’t like that you can’t change the color. At least I wasn’t able to figure out how to if you can. Like if there’s a picture on one side and a solid color on the other it would be nice to be able to pick any color not just the 2 options. It would also be nice to have a favorites tab or something so you can easily pick the same page design and or font for each page if you want them to look the same like I did. It was difficult trying to go in every time and find the same page design.

I wish I would’ve read the reviews before I spent hours and hours and hours on this thing! It does keep crashing and is there is no way to save anything! It is the most frustrating app I have ever used! I give up!

Good app once figured out how to use it. The pricing is very variable with offers available. Have had an order glitch where it didn’t go through and had to re order. Tried most of their products and highly recommended.

The app is easy to navigate, but crashes constantly and doesn’t save any work. It’s extremely frustrating to use, and pointless if crashes before it ever lets you check out.

Good usability
Easy to use and great range of designs. The auto install is a great function. Lots of choices of page layouts which is great. Would like to see a save progress feature so that if the app closes unexpectedly all progress is saved. Would also like to see a preview feature before purchasing to check the overall view of the product. Slightly disappointing that you cannot easily switch the layout of the pictures on the page and sometimes persevering with this causes an error or the app to crash. Overall a very good product.
Doesn’t work
I was offered a free voucher which I was skeptical about but all the reviews online were good so I downloaded the app and when I get to the title page it just won’t do anything! :(
Confusion
I was offered a voucher for the photo book and when trying to checkout the voucher did not work. I proceeded to try again and design the book but the voucher which was emailed to me was useless! I’m not sure if the app is buggy or the voucher is fake. Nevertheless, I’ve heard about Saal Digital from a few friends and the quality of their products is stunning! I just wish the voucher worked :/
