My personal ideas and thoughts on this game
This is a cool game and if you want to have big battles and cool strategy, then this is the game for you. Yes it does take a chunk of your bank account but it’s worth it. The reason for 4 stars is, well, the price. Also I don’t know if the developer would do this but, I think it would be cool if you could be one of the soldiers. This is my honest review on this game
Love Hate Relationship
I love the game, but hate the mechanics. AI doesn’t operate with any logic. I like the battles, but the campaign mode gets too frustrating

Only reason I didn’t give it 5 was that they partially reverted a change so that you can no longer use the hotseat balance fixes in grand campaign. I loved those balance fixes because it made certain tier 4 and 5 buildings actually cost-effective in the late game.
Update ruined it
After the update the shell and cheat input no longer work. Pressing the top corners no longer brings the shell menu to input commands/cheats. (iPhone 17 Pro Max)
Big battles = crash
I loved this game back in the day, and was so excited to see it offered on a mobile platform. HOWEVER, don’t bother trying to fight the Mongols. Their armies are so huge, this app is almost guaranteed to crash. Beyond frustrating, especially after you’re already an hour or so invested in your carefully planned out and executed battle. Your options to reduce the graphics load are minimal to say the least. So, try to focus on western factions that won’t come in contact with the Mongols and you can still have fun.

I’ve had this game for years and absolutely love it, however have not been able to play for the last few months because every time I open the app it it loads and when I hit play it crashes. Love this game, want to give it 5 stars but I haven’t been able to play for months. Please fix
Brilliant game but no where near as good as a port as the Rome port
Clearly development on this game started with an early build of the Rome port as many many bugs that were patched in that game still exist here. Not to mention the UI for this game is so much worse than the UI for the Rome port it’s actually comical - all you have to do to fix it is copy Romes ui and change the style of the graphics. Everything is very slightly harder, something as simple as lowering tax laws now requires you to keep tapping the button to go back to the lowest taxes and you tap it up from there. If you keep tapping to try and get the most efficient tax laws but go one over, well, go back again. It’s such a small problem but the game is riddled with these. Moving units is significantly harder and more janky than in the Rome port, construction is slightly more annoying, mercenary’s are more annoying etc. Also removing features that not only exist in the original game but also in the Rome port like transferring retinues. The stupid new general pictures are significantly worse and look like they were made by ai. And how do you add even more bugs and terrible path finding than not only the original but also the Rome port? It would be incredibly laughably bad if not for the times it costs you battles It’s still a very fun game because at the end of the day it’d still medieval 2 total war, but I bought the Rome port on day 1 of its release and I loved it. I did the same for this game but it’s safe to say I am not going to be doing that for any further releases since they won’t have the benefit of being Medieval 2 and there clearly isn’t any where near as much effort put in as there should be for a game priced over a tenner on the App Store.

Archers charge into battle instead of shooting arrows
WTF- Cannot for the life of me stop my archers from charging into battle. Melee switched on or off, line of sight is good, guard mode activated… those guys just want to charge to their death! Just got this game on iPad to try out. Looked up online and this seems to be a problem for years. Very frustrating for someone trying to learn the game. Definitely not buying any further versions of this game.

Hotseat bug
Love this game but I tried to fight a defensive battle in hotseat mode and despite having selected that I wish to have all battles be playable before starting my campaign the game just auto resolves every defensive battle. (this happened in crusaders campaign)

Shocking compared to PC version
Nor convinced they have got this right yet, you think you are building the right buildings you are not. Easy battles-not. Persevering but won’t be buying expansion packs just yet
Great port, but…
It needs control controller support, backbone pro or any controller support like that would make it so much easier. My fingers freeze up, my forearms and hands begin to cramp which has prevented me from playing this very fun title time and time again when I want to come back to it.

Bug and struggles
Almost unplayable. Troop deployment is almost impossible because the game doesn’t understand if you’re moving troops or trying to to preset them before a battle starts. All the mechanics get confused with each other when playing on iPad without a mouse. The game can’t tell if you’re trying to move the camera or if you’re trying to move troops. Same thing then happens when a keyboard is added, the game doesn’t know what functions the key board is supposed to take over so then continues to confuse simple troop layout functions and redeployment. Its just not ment to run on iPad its out of its depth and can’t perform the way its intended to

Bug please fix
I redownloaded the game because of the huge update after ive aleady played this game with multiple campigns i decided to download it again excited to play the with the new update but ive triead countless times but when i enter it only lets me up to the main screen of the game and when i choose play it bugged and dose not work !! ( ive been trying again and the game is currently unplayable)
Can only play by closing and reloading frequently to clear up bugs

You’re not gonna believe this
I really like playing this game. I have played it a lot and really enjoy it but the game crashed in DLC America. This was really disappointing.
Amazing game, but sadly bugged
I love Medieval 2: Total War on mobile. It’s what introduced me to the series before I got it on computer so I play it a lot. The new update is AMAZING, but I have a persistent bug when I play single player now. The new hotseat rebalance is a cool addition to hotseat games, but it seems that the rebalance has also now somehow became enabled in my single player games. Ignoring the now odd building prices 😅, amazing game overall.
Disappointed
Good to see such a classic on mobile. Unfortunately there are two issues: 1) The “automatically resolve battle” functionality is broken. You will virtually always lose if you use it, even if the opponents are far weaker. It’s impractical to fight every battle manually. 2) The controls are unnecessarily difficult and buggy.
Expansion
This was very good and the grand campaign was very good but I paid money for the expansions and the expansions just won’t download, I paid money but it wont let me play. Don’t buy the expansion pack

Lazy money grab
I love the total war series. Spent more time playing it that any other game series. I also love the mobile rome total war game. But this one is really badly adapted, hard to play. Not nearly as engaging. It feels rushed, really disappointing.
Need more units
Game is fun but unlike the pc version it can became stale. With the pc one we have the ability to access all the expansion kingdoms cool units and fractions in grand campaign. Good example is Greek flamethrowers. Byzantine’s have no gun power units but we can’t even get their best non gunpowder weapons in base game. Overall it’s fun for while but having the ability to mod or adding some of the existing units into base game would be nice…specially where it makes sense.
Equal to or greater than 3K
This game is world building crack! I played years of Total War 3K. Started playing this while my computer is down and can’t put down my iPad. 12/10 rating
Greed
The game is med 2 one of the best total wars it’s an amazing game and their phone version isn’t too bad, my issue is the greed with DLC you pay basically full price for the game which in steam gives you all the DLC since this game is very old instead they up charge every DLC and kick their new updates like hot-seat behind it most computers can run this game so if your just playing from home or have a laptop just use the laptop the game is old enough to run on almost any hardware semi modern

Imma be real with you. I have been waiting for this game for years to come out on iPad. Rome total war just hit different, you know, so when I saw this game was coming to iOS I was beyond excited. But I regretfully have to say i am a little disappointed. It’s not one thing, infact I couldn’t really point out anything that’s wrong. Overall the game just doesn’t feel that great, my mind might change after playing a few campaigns but at the moment it’s just not as well done as Rome total war. This doesn’t mean it’s bad. I just don’t think it’s worth $22, especially considering it’s on the iPad. If you a are a diehard total war fan or love the medieval period I would recommend that you buy this game but not the iOS version, instead go onto your computer load up steam and buy it there. I am aware this is a brand new game for the iPad so I’m still keeping an open mind. All I can say is do not buy this game unless you really want to play it
