Absolutely amazing app
Ignore some of the negative posters here. I have been using this app for film previs for a couple of years now and it keeps on improving. It’s very intuitive and easy to work with and the learning curve isn’t steep at all. The creators are also very responsive to emails and feature requests or other. I love this app, I can’t do without and I look forward to how much better it will become still!
Truly terrible app
You wont know until you pay how terrible the interface is. It’s not intuitive. I am an extremely experienced tech user and high level director. I would be a target for an app like this. It’s painfully bad. Clunky. Not intuitive. Poorly designed. Awful save your money.
PDF Import!
I LOVE Previs Pro. But, I don't use Final Draft, and exporting an .fdx file is just unnecessary for my workflow. HOWEVER, if you integrated with Scriptation for pdf import support (much like how they do for so many other apps), that would be a game changer! They can export scene data, down to props and characters with tagging, and if Previs Pro could read that data and populate the scene/character info, that would save me from doing everything manually!
Downfall
Another case of downfall of a good app. Day by day... upgrade by upgrade it getting worst… I don’t know is it the grid or loosing interest by the developers. It was one of my favourite app… time to say good bye!
Seriously!
Why won’t it let me go free? Now it won’t things I would want in the future, not to sign in into your account. You could be free and the subscriptions are very expensive could you lower the price?
Why is sign in now required for some features?
Some recent update added sign in to apple for features that didn’t previously need that. Why? Where was that noted on the update? Why is apple sign in needed for a timeline? OLD review: Finally Animatics! Animatics in v3 is a solid update. Easy enough to make adjustments and fine-tune. Would love to see more features in the animatic part (keyframe smoothing, walk animations…) and it would be great if there was the option for multiple cameras in one setup (like camera A, cam B) that would show not only on the storyboard at the same time, but also show the first and last keyframe in the storyboard printout as well. Great update and making 2.5 free is huge.
Perpetual License problems and support issues
I liked this app in the trial but the process to try and buy it is broken and nobody has addressed this in a timely manner. After the trial ends you will not be given a choice of how to proceed, it will autobill you for a yearly subscription and then there is no way to switch to a perpetual License. It takes me to a link with an error. If you are working on a project and have an issue don't expect them to get back to you in a timely manner in this industry with tight deadlines.
Great customization
Choosing sensor size and aspect ratio is especially helpful for planning out shots ahead of time. I just wish the library for props and sets was larger; Maybe more pre-made sets. Also weather conditions like rain, snow, etc. other than that it’s terrific! Has everything I need.
Clever app, let down by crashes and bugs and poor customer service
This is a very clever app but sadly it is let down by too many crashes and bugs and really poor customer service. A feature will work one moment and then not the next and sometimes it will just crash for no reason. If you do contact them don’t expect a reply. Such a shame as this app would be a great tool…it doesnt warrant the high price because of these failings.
A promising app
This app has some major strengths and one giant weakness for my personal workflow. The strengths: Great on an iPad, amazing camera emulation, fast and responsive interface for composing shots. It’s got a rich feature set for using AR on location to plan shots, it can copy your facial expression or body position onto characters, so much of it is brilliant and well thought out. The weakness: I have tried this app and before it I have tried a similar (if more complex) application called Frameforge 3D Studio. I won’t lie — there’s a lot to love about what they’re doing in Previs Studio but it has the same failure point (for my uses) as Frameforge and that’s this: If you want to use this to build a scene in a specific location or designed set, you will find yourself spending a LOT of time 3D modeling your set with a clunky tool set and seemingly no online tutorials. If you want, for instance, windows in a wall that look out on an exterior, that seems to not be in here. If you make a piece of furniture larger to fill up a specific footprint, it also makes it taller. Is there a way to turn that off? I don’t see it. I want to place and block actors in a definable space and I want to do it as quickly as possible without fussing with weird controls and gizmos to move stuff around. I want to be able to drop a window or a door (with hinge) anywhere in a wall and be able to mess with the proportions until I’m happy. I want to be able to quickly dictate the dimensions of objects and primitive shapes in an easy or obvious way. I’d love to outline a 2D set and have it turn it 3D, even if it’s in a cartoony style, and get to blocking. I have nextdoor to zero interest in using uncooperative tools to brute force my set into existence over a slow and headache-inducing process. Shot Designer only creates overheads, but the beauty of it is that one can build a set in minutes, not tens of minutes and not hours. I’m thinking about the scene, blocking, and actors. In short, I want a set that’s faster to build and customize. Maybe I’m just dreaming but I do think it’s telling that the set building tutorials Previs Pro has out there are using stock elements, not something designed. One of their example sets is from Seinfeld, but they don’t show you how to build that. I’m completely open to being wrong about my assessment here, but I’ve watched all the tutorials and I’ve jumped into using Previs Pro for a trial period and as much as I want it to be a go-to app for my work, I can’t get over the clunky set creation tools. If someone from the company can point me in a better direction I will happily take their advice and revise this review because I want this to be my go-to application.
Amazing and fantastic
Easy to use. So powerful. I use it on all my projects. Great customer support. Constant updates.
File corruption and error
Not only will Previs pro not let delete and imported project, it lost all my previous work. I am student and 119$ is a lot for me. I shoot tomorrow and have no new lighting diagrams thanks to previs. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Worst ever!!
Unable to restore my purchase
I had some issues with my bank but they have been resolved. Unfortunately I am unable to restore my educational license $29.99 for the first year. I would appreciate some assistance in doing so… Excellent product and an absolute joy to use. I use it on my iPad Pro 6th gen. The lens settings feature is brilliant. Thank you for your assistance.
Gimmicky
I guess the app expects me to get on the web and subscribe for something or something. I’m here for a one click app. Key word being app. Cancelled
Fine for simple storyboards
It’s okay. Pros are that’s it’s easy to learn but it’s pretty clunky when it comes to adding props which are pretty lame, the AI is a joke, you can’t change character costumes without it changing the whole board (hello…characters have costume changes!), character poses don’t include holding a cell phone (ummm?), every time I paste in a prop it puts in a random box object… this list of glitches could continue. It’s not ready for feature story boarding, that’s for sure. I do think it’s the best option for iOS at this point, but don’t expect wonders.

This app has proven to be a vital component in my pre-pro , previs pipeline. Will use this program for years to come from here on out. Thanks!
Cool features, not worth a forever subscription
I don’t subscribe to anything before getting a legit opportunity to try it. These guys twist your arm into subscribing before even getting close to exploring the app. No app is worthy of that kind of blind trust. I have Toon Boom. I don’t need another subscription. I just needed something simple and cheap for the quick and dirty previz tasks, and this isn’t it. A gallery photo app/ quick sketch tool with good note-taking features would be enough. Even with all that, I’d have given it a chance if it didn’t try to bait me into a subscription without a really open-ended trial first.

The developers have poor customer service, as I was charged $80 for two months that I didn’t even know I was subscribed to. No refund despite having not used the app at all. Very uncool, wouldn’t buy anything from them in the future.

Please work more on this
This is a great tool but it has such a dated and inconvenient UI to use. It constantly crashes, and there should be more robust tools to iterate off of frames and to be able to duplicate scenes, settings and props without specific granular selections and copy/pastes each time. I love this app, but I so desperately want it to be better. It should match the capabilities of the iPad in 2023
I wish i could make more characters
I wish you could have more options for characters and I know you make your own characters but every time I use it I get a white screen so I can’t use it. If any one can let me know what I can do please let me know.
Truly Incredible
I use this app on my phone in conjunction with the laptop version. The stand out feature to me is the augmented reality mode where you can literally move your phone to move around the scene as if you were actually filming. I’ve never seen anything like it!

Things l’d love to see in the future
The app is actually really good and helps visualize so much! If possible, some features I’d love to see improved and added are 1. A more in depth character creator. And I don’t mean anything too much like how saints row has, I just mean like add more hair styles and clothing options. Also, when I made a character with a beard, I couldn’t change the color of the beard, only the hair on top of his head. 2. Now I get if this is asking a little too much but I’d love to see this app have the ability to have the models actually move and the cameras record. Something I can save and add voice acting onto. 3. I’d also like to see the ability to have the cameras move, something I can excitement with to see how fast a camera should move in one shot. Again this app is great, just something’s I’d love to see in the future if possible.
Export problems
I not able to export file in any format, when I try to export application closed suddenly.
Needs improvement.
Everything is pretty okay but still there's no proper way to put windows and gaps between walls. It can't save latest adjustments properly as at least twice my work has not been saved and got deleted.

I’ve been using this app for a couple years, things that once frustrated me have been fixed. It’s a great app.
Not working
I'm unable to turn objects and people or do much of anything as in the tutorials on either iphone 14 or MacBook Air). I emailed support several days ago, no reply. Disappointing. Paid $$$ and will be requesting a refund.

Good but Expensive
I love the app and what it does. It’s great for seeing your script but it costs a lot to get the extra perks. I haven’t paid for it because it costs so much. I think it would be best to take out the paid portion and make it all free or lower the prices to 10-20 dollars for a one time purchase. Overall, this app is great but the pricing needs to be fixed.

Been using Previs pro to storyboard for quite a few years now. It’s a must for me to storyboard. When you get on set and have talent and crew relying on you to get the shots you need and to stay on schedule to keep everyone happy you need to know what you’re shooting, how, and when where possible. Previs literally does help me STORYBOARD FAST. And it’s super customizable and helps get clients on board so much faster with a vision. 100% recommended taking the minimal time it takes to learn how to use it and take advantage of the benefits of storyboarding if you are an atrocious graphic artist like me.
When I BOUGHT this app it didn’t require a subscription
Sad that the horrible corporate greed has resulted in apps like this charging a subscription after people like me paid for it before the world went crazy and started charging subscriptions for everything. Kudos to the few developers who still charge a reasonable price to buy the app initially, Originally millions of apps were only 99¢ developers made a fortune by selling large quantities. Niche apps like this understandably charged more. Now the greed keeps them charging
Really good
I’m really into this app but despite having the latest iPhone and iPad I have a less character choice compared to what’s advertised (only 5 per age/gender) I’m signed up provisionally for a month with a view to buy outright but the limits in choice are leading me to hold off for a while, everything else works great
Far too expensive
What a shame such a fabulous app is so expensive. I’m certainly not spending AU$400 for a lifetime subscription. Make the price more reasonable, like $50 for lifetime. I just won’t pay ridiculous amounts for any app.

Well worth the price
This is the most powerful storyboarding (and all around pre-production) tool I've ever come across. A godsend for people like me who have limited drawing skills. It empowers filmmakers the ability to basically create an incredibly detailed shotlist that's more emblematic of a graphic novel than a basic storyboard. Putting the productivity benefits aside, IT'S FUN and easy. There were very few things I couldn't figure out on my own, and when i got stumped, I googled "previspro how to duplicate and rearrange scenes" and the answer popped up in video tutorial. There were never any issues I couldnt solve with the google search. I gave this 5 stars because it's incredibly user-friendly and is unparrelled in its ability to really explore and pick apart how you you will and won't shoot the film. That said, I do wish there were little things in the prop and pose selection area such as a search featuer and a "recently used" or "most frequently used" section.
No Subscription cancellation option
Uh… why can’t I cancel my subscription? I am not getting charged $100 right now, I cannot waste that much at the moment 😩Please help before I am charged

Information grab
I took the time to download the app you can’t experience the way this app works without doing a seven day trial, that being said your email name and personal information will be in their database. Basically you pay them to use the app and they use your information to make more money behind the scene, And in my experience when a developer won’t let you see what their app is like for free… It usually isn’t a very good app.
Great app but no light diffusion options and way too expensive.
please please please add light diffusion options and reduce the £199 price tag. That’s a day rate for someone on set, not an app price. Also would be great so see some higher FPS options in the 3D view plus a desktop version. Plus the ability to show the light sauce in the 3D view.

I love it they got me feeling like a real director and screenplay writer I’m sure I’m going to be successful when I pitch my scripts to people and have this storyboard to send along with my pitch deck thank you for this app
Always stops working after update
I’ve paid for the pro version of this app. Annoyingly, every time the app needs an update, it stops recognizing that I have the pro version until I update it. After this last update, the app has stopped working all together and I’m stuck on the splash page. I’ve a series of storyboards/floor plans which I had yet to export and now can’t access. It’s all incredibly frustrating.
Quick & Easy
Super easy to create storyboard especially when talent are involved thanks to the posable characters feature. Only recommendation would be to add search functionality to find a specific prop.

So this app has great features but it took me long to get used to it. For me, this is a bit overpriced if you’ll gonna subscribe or buy it for a not so user friendly features and lack of ui controls like when you setup your first project and put on your title, you can’t even see the back/cancel button while you’re entering the text and besides that you can’t even see where’s your text appearing to like there’s no text cursor. Would love to use the 3d model posing apps again instead coz they have light features and you can even adjust and rotate the camera angles for taking a shot. This app needs more ui improvements and the price is a bit too much i think but that’s my experience. This app has a potential to be honest.
This is a great app but...
This app is great and so easy to use but there a few things to improve on. First improve the quality of the free experience. For example: We’re limited at ten frames per project. Seriously can u be more money greedy?? Second improve the price of pro. This app isn’t worth more than Xbox game pass. In xbox game pass I can get hundreds of pounds worth of games for 7 pounds a month. And third!!! Add a prop search mechanic 🙂
