App Problem
Could it be possible that my app can not load my bought books after today when the website wasn’t loading?
It does the job!
I am leaving this review because the app works and it doesn’t deserve 1 star
Shame of an app
Nothing there, impossible to navigate, can you hire devs to update it as you update your books?!
Bugs to fix up
I’m giving it a second star because it’s somehow working. In general, I was able to listen to the material. However, it’s incredibly frustrating how the app can be so poorly designed in 2025. It feels like someone asked their neighbor’s son, who’s still in school and aspiring to become an iOS developer, to write an app, and this was his first time ever.
Gut!
No he tenido problemas con la app.
Just as bad as the books
This is incredibly poorly designed app that is a literal embarrassment to German culture. As a new learner of German you would think they would have some instructions in English. They do not.
Apple Pencil
With Goethe Institute as client who needs a working app?
This application is the what the Goethe Institute expects students to use for their coursework. The Authors and maintainers of this app should be embarrassed at what clearly is a business decision to sell new students a tool, but make no investment into it‘s Development. Very basic functionality is buggy. There is no caching, no maintaining state from when the application is paused. Authentication is a mess with a notice appearing that ‘My Shelf’ is empty. Downloading for offline. It would be better to remove this feature entirely. Playing offline recordings simply does not work in the mobile view. iPad is the minimal functional view size. As the recommended App for an Institute that represents a language and culture known for it’s precision, this app should strive to continuously reflect Best practices and competent UX/UI design. Apple provides opinionated frameworks to achieve such a front end experience. The Data you are serving is not dynamic and could be easily cached for a snappier experience. The idiom that is appropriate here is to say you are ‘phoning it in’. Goethe shares some of the blame here for not demanding better. It reflects poorly on their commitment to the Customer Experience. #Fail
unzufrieden….
Liegt also nicht an meiner Hardware..
Stinks
This app is worthless. Takes forever to download books, then it just hangs when opening the books. It's more an exercise in frustration than learning. And all this in a one year old iPad Pro.
At least it shows content (Most of the time)
Any PDF viewer for iPad is so much better. I bought an ebook version because I was hoping to easily write and edit my writings in the book using an Apple Pencil, and with this app it feels like I’m using Microsoft Paint with my mouse ten years ago.
Please make UX better!
The app lacks a lot of functionalities which makes user hard to use. For example, there is no undo button, and the delete button there is extremely hard to use. If I am writing some notes on my iPad + Apple Pencil, the UX makes it difficult to follow up with the lecture thus I would still prefer the printed book. Please consider making this app better and integrate with a newer feature and tool like Apple Pencil.
The worst app ever
This is the very first app that makes me headaches. Famous education providers should improve their extremely stupid app like this.
Horrible
It’s the worst app l’ve ever seen. It doesn’t work. I waited so long to register and download. Then guess what?! The files can’t be played. It deserves no Star.
Tengo suficiente espacio disponible. Me gustaría me ayudaran, gracias
An Exercise in Frustration
This app stinks. On a laptop or a mobile device it gives more headaches than it does educational opportunities. I wish my school had stuck with the physical book only. Getting in touch with the company is also difficult. I takes them days to reply. This is currently a very unsatisfying app.
iPhone version for Smartphone is not opening pages of book
The app works good on tablet and laptop, but on phone it is not opening pages of book, shows only audio files. Disappointed with not having access on phone ;( used to read on phone books, but this one app is not opening file.
