Good app
Needed to verify passport worked after washing and drying it accidently. Worked out great.

After Scanning It Resets
Right after scanning when you press Next it resets the whole thing. Can't look at the information for more than a few seconds. 2/5 at most
Help needed
The app works, I was hesitant at first. But with the chip being picked up does that mean that the chip works? I’m from the UK and I go abroad in a few months but I put the passport in with my dirty washing and it got soaked. The pages look okay however, but I was worried about the chip. With the chip being scanned and giving me the information from it does that confirm it’s working and I can use my passport for travel?

Complains about white background
Complains about white background even with ID placed on black sheet. Sometimes says move to avoid reflection. Not even once it captured my id details.
Updated - Does work
New: The improved instruction videos as well as the instructions to twist the iPhone 90° allowed me to read a US passport correctly. Interesting data on this app but not entirely sure what else id do with it other than a tech demo. Old: Attempted to read a United States passport and a NEXUS card with the app. Scanned the picture page successfully, never was able to read the NFC chip. Removed case, no change. Rebooted iPhone 15 Pro Max, restarted app and now camera never came on to take a picture of the document. Camera works fine, phone recognizes other NFC devices like the silly poker chip from Identiverse’s scavenger hunt and yubikey. The app just doesn’t work. Not a good experience if we’re going to try to rely on this for identity verification.

Doesn’t work….at all.
Scanned the image of my passport fine. I followed directions and even used another app to ensure my NFC reader is active on my phone. Running iOS 16.6 - iPhone 13 mini. Have yet to have it read once. Even removed the case on my phone, thinking that had something to do with it. Nada. Zip. UPDATE - I actually read that someone said to slowly move the phone around. This did work after the third try. So, now it seems I can get it to scan sporadically. But thats something!

No document to be shared
What’s the point of this app? I did the verification and can’t even download the document.
Works on current passport
Android version also worked on 14 year old expired passport with manual MRC entry (holes punched). iPhone 15 would not work on old expired passport. Passport had to be opened and phone placed on front side of back cover.
MRZ Issue
Since the new update, app struggles to read MRZ through camera. System before for reading MRZ was much more efficient.

I accidentally washed my passport in the washing machine. My goal was to fill up my passport before it expired with stamps of my travels and halfway there I thought it was all over thankfully I found this app online and I was able to scan it and my passport was able to be scanned, and I can be assured that it still works.
Hot garbage
It is supposed to be a id reader but it fails at its only job. Which leads me to believe it is probably an information gathering app. Avoid at all cost.

Worked once only
Worked once for reading my passport rfid but then never again. The instructions are somewhat contradictory; it clearly says to not move while trying to read the chip, then in another place it says to move slowly up and down.
Issue with Validation
My passport is issued by Bangladesh govt, while scanning, i get an error saying "FAILED - could not build a chain to a trust anchor." What could be the reason?
Saved me a trip to the airport
My son’s passport got washed and dried! I was mortified, as he was going on a trip within 3 weeks. The passport itself looked fine other than slight ripples, just wasn’t sure if the chip worked. I downloaded this app and it saved me a trip to the airport, from having to have the agent scan the passport to make sure the chip worked. I waited to write this review until after her went on a few trips. This scanner works perfect and is legit!
Won't scan
It can't scan my ID after 30 minutes of adjusting the distance. Keeps telling me to make sure the information is visible when it couldn't be more visible.

Paspoort uitlezen ging in 1 keer goed, alleen was de verloopdatum fout? Rijbewijs is na een poging of 10 nog niet gelukt, tijdens het uitlezen komen de bolletjes tot halverwege, krijg een vinkje te zien en wil de app overnieuw scannen zonder data te laten zien? Update na respons: datum verlopen paspoort klopt wel, is alleen anders weergegeven, namelijk JJ-MM-DD. Rijbewijs is uitgegeven in 2017, en probeer te scannen met iPhone 11 Pro, alle updates geïnstalleerd, geen beta iOS.
It cant load my passport photo
When i scan my identity card it works perfectly but when i scan my passport it gets stuck on loading and never shows anything
Works like a charm
I accidentally left my passport in the center console of my car on a scorching summer day, with the car parked in direct sunlight for hours. I was really worried the heat might have damaged the chip. Thankfully, this app came to the rescue! ReadID scanned my passport effortlessly and confirmed everything was still working perfectly. Huge relief! And huge thanks to the developers for creating such an awesome app. Highly recommended!
Terrible software
Numerous glitches; copy is not written well, poor directions, broken links, does not scan when following poor directions. Odd error messages. A BIG FAIL. SCRAP THIS.
Works well
It’s a good app and works well reading the chip. I hope the developer is not harvesting my personal information though and selling or storing it on their servers.
Helaas nutteloos
Ik had in een artikel gelezen dat je met deze app je paspoort en rijbewijs kon scannen en ze vervolgens in je Apple Wallet kon zeggen. Na het scannen kun je er echter verder niets meer mee doen. Ik had deze app dus net zo goed niet hoeven downloaden.
Wat is het nut?
Scannen en lezen makkelijk. Maar daarna verdwijnt het weer en je kunt het blijkbaar niet opslaan. Dus een foto maken is handiger.

The perfect App for ID & Passport Verification in 2025
GREAT “IN THEORY”!
Has all the features I’m looking for but NOTHING WORKS! It doesn’t scan any ID’s or read any NFC’s. I tried MULTIPLE ID’s and PASSPORTS. Utterly USELESS!

Werkt leuk, heel vreemd echter, op de ene telefoon kan ik wel mijn rijbewijs uitlezen, op de andere niet (optie rijbewijs ontbreekt gewoon)

I tried 20 plus times to get my face authenticated and it still has yet to be the easiest task became the worst.
Trusted Anchor Country Signer Uruguay
I am getting failed verification on some Uruguayan passports but not others. Does ReadID have the country signature file to verify Uruguay? Why would only some passports fail?

If you looking for a good MFC Reader/Writer look elsewhere. This App is a big joke.
Good app, really works
Finally an iOS compatible app that actually reads a US passport. It’s tricky when you scan the RFID chip since you have to position the top of the phone exactly around the center of the passport’s back cover. Also, make sure the passport booklet is open, otherwise the cover’s material will block the signal. It’s a security feature built into the passport. I do hope my data can be downloaded into a text file, instead of view only. Also, I tried on two genuine passports. One was issued about 4 years ago, and it shows data authentic and country signer as “SUCCEEDED found a chain to a trust anchor”. The other passport was issued about 3 months ago, and it shows as authenticity not validated, due to the country signer as FAILED. I know for a fact both passports are real, why is the new passport won’t pass authenticity check? Is it because the passport is too new, and the RSA encryption is different? I’m not aware of a security update to US passports in the past 4 years. Can someone explain? Thanks!
