What people like
- Fastest earthquake alerts available anywhere
- Shows quakes other apps miss
- Free version gives good basic info
What they complain about
- Paid version still shows annoying ads
- Volcano data stops updating for weeks
- App crashes and feels very buggy
Good but maybe needs every known fault zone east of the Rocky’s
I was looking for fault zones near the Appalachian mountains and never saw new Madrid fault lines as well as Appalachian fault lines I will still rate it 5 stars due to the great reviews of others

Best Volcanic App - When it Works
So normally this is the best volcano and earthquake app out there. But the recent update has made it so unstable it won’t even open on both iPhone and iPad. Please fix so I can continue to use an app I love!
Accurate & Timely
I use many aeronautical, weather apps as a commercial pilot and owner of a drone company. I can say this app is state of the art accurate and provides you information hours if not a day before the media! Highly recommend this app-pay it forward!
MAGA
This app supports MAGA
Much better since the long awaited update
With the 2026 update, app is much improved and data updates all working. Volcano data not updating for the last 4 weeks, earthquakes updating in real time
In need to serious update
I have used this as my goto alert app for many years and despite being a little clunky, it worked - until it didn't. Earthquake updates are still working, but volcano alerts stopped working on May 2nd 2025 with no sign of a fix. Not sure what is going on with the developer, but this app has had no update in 5 years. Please do not make me test alternatives, that really is a ball ache.
Attn Devs
I was recommended this app by multiple colleagues. It’s a decent app but the settings and notifications are in need some TLC. I cannot tell if I’m selecting “yes” or “no” for certain notifications or if I want the map to show something.
Latest update
Too bad. After this latest update and the crash was fixed, now you can't get any earthquakes higher than 3 for more than a day unless you pay. Used to be a great app but now worthless. Sorry.
Meh..
There's ads with the "paid" version...
Nice
Have always liked this app with the new update love it
Needs updating and Volcanoes have stopped updating
The app hasn’t been updated in more than 4 years now and is showing its age. Earthquake updates are still working (May 2025) however Volcanoes stopped a couple of weeks back. News feeds sometimes produce a good page 2 & 3 however page 1 fails to load. Developer keeps trying to ask for money to develop a new version via external donations. Why not update the app and charge for a base version? I would go Pro but not if the app isn’t being updated.
Problems
Earthquakes still working but volcanoes has stopped updating. Disappointing as I love this app.
Love the updates
I’ve been using this app for awhile perfect reporting.
Scam app
Most of time it don’t show any earthquakes and if any technical problem the stupid owner of this app don’t have any way to contact, fix your stupid app or I will ask for refund scammer
Volcanoes
I love the app. The volcano section has not updated in 11 days. I didn’t know where to put this. Thank you.
Great for Android, but no Pro option for Apple
Why is there no Pro Upgrade option for IOS Apple iPhone??? I had that on my Android Phone but the developer for whatever reason doesn’t over it for iPhone users, please add the Pro Upgrade…
Volcanoes stopped updating
I’ve enjoyed this app for several years but the past month the volcano page has stopped working. I tried deleting then reinstalling, but it hasn’t helped.
Excellent App
I love this app. I’ve been using it every day for the last 10 yrs. It’s straight forward, well laid out, and very informative.
Seriously wrong
There is something seriously wrong with this app! It just keeps asking to copy and paste my notes. I cannot access it because I will not give it that permission. I’m going to wait a day and see if the developer contacts me, otherwise, I’m deleting it.
It's a improvement
I thought this app was gonna be a good choice clearly the app has to do much better even more details about the extinct and sea mount volcanoes and unacceptable that they don't give you details about the same amounts and long time volcanoes and other features the maker of this app has to do better
Settings defects
In settings it gives you options with dots, but it has no definition: metric/ imperial on/off etc. what do these settings refer to. The author is either so dislexic or he’s in a hurry to make money….but he doesn’t give a damn or else he would of corrected this years ago when i first noticed that the settings have no definition for the buttons.

Volcanoes not updating
Edit: as of 3/26/2026, this app has been fixed and is actively being improved.
Misses a lot of quakes
I have the pro version and for some time now I have thought a number of quakes are missed. Finally confirmed！ government sites do indeed report quakes that don’t appear ~ and these are quake’s over mag 4. I have written to these people over time with zero response. Don’t waste your time or money on this very faulty app. It used to be good but for the last 6 months it has been 2nd rate at best.
Crashes when I go to notifications
It’s very good but when ever I try to go to the notifications it crashes
Not worth it
The app is buggy and doesn’t really load well, it also opens different pages of the app for no reason quite frequently. The information from the free version is very limited, as you’re only able to see quakes of 3.0 or higher unless you pay them like $5.
What is happening?
What is happening with this app. It not refreshing or giving accurate information compared to other apps and news
Very good
12/18/22. I love this app a lot, right now there is a problem, when I open up or shall I say read data it’s shaking, like when the information was put on the app, the ground was moving ! I mean the data that was written is shaking
Confusing
Kept telling me I needed to update at but not update available. I deleted the app
Please, update the app!
This an awesome app. Sadly I’m iOS is poorly developed. In android works great but here have so many bugs. Please, update.
Map update not proper for iOS?
My map is not up to date. The Color and info of Fadragalsfjall is dark green “probably extinct” but it should be yellow. Change log is Apr19. How to solve the issue? Not a nice thing for a buy-version.

useful
despite the slightly dated interface it is very functional and fast. useful for verifying that an earthquake happened when I feel it
Data stealing
Downloaded this app, opened it, and it immediately copied my clipboard without permission. Not cool. Deleted immediately
Very good.
A simple but effective app. I wanted to know why my toilet was shaking at 1 AM so I would know what not to eat next time and so it was a relief to know it was a force 3.8 out to sea… 😂
Ads in Paid version
Don’t like the fact that there are ads in the paid version of this app, especially in the news section, quite disappointing. Will increase star rating once this is resolved.
Volcano information not updating
Been using this with no issues since downloading but since 31/12/2023 the volcano information is not updating. The earthquake bit does update though.
EPIC APP
I follow both EQ’s and Volcanoes for almost 15 years now and this app is by far my favorite for many reasons: it allows you to see volcanoes nears EQ’s - has a brief description of the current eruption/info and extensive info within a click or two- I get more, better described, current info here than with my other apps combined! Its also ahead of my other EQ apps as far as reporting/notification of EQ’s etc and shows quakes that my other apps don’t!
Iceland volcano missing
Poor program and/or data feed. Does not show the active volcano in Iceland near Grindavik that has been erupting for about 3 months. And shows no webcams though there about 8 cams on this volcano. And this is with the “pro” version. Also, it has not been updated since 2019. Still shows ads even after it promises to drop ads when purchasing the “pro” version. Avoid this program. Needs to be removed from Apple Store.
Great app for anyone interested in volcanoes
The live updates from this app are great and they sometimes give a more in depth explanation of an eruption whenever the data permits it. However, the app performance itself is a bit buggy at times. It lags a lot if you use the map feature for too long. Live updates sometimes don’t show up, forcing a deletion and re-download in order to get it working again. I’ve also noticed that there are no live updates being given on the currently erupting volcano in Iceland. You have to go to the main website itself for that. Hopefully an app update is sent out soon to fix all these issues, and this app will be even better.
Trotz Pro-Upgrade nicht werbefrei!
Trotz der versprochenen Werbefreiheit nervt die Pro-Version mit massiven Werbebannern. Mir ist nicht klar für was ich dann überhaupt bezahlt habe.
Don't buy
I found that the free side is just as informative as the purchased side of the app. Not worth the 5 dollars. I thought more availability and more settings would be on purchased side. Very disappointed. Free side is great. 3 stars just due to feeling like I was ripped off.
Volcanos and earthquakes
Having followed these events for the last ten years using USGS information I find this application to be very useful in getting news of events quickly. When the first worries about Yellowstone became alarming to people the USGS and universities shut down information from the live instruments. I will be interested in seeing if this app can provide all information.
Trouble with the app
7/921 I can’t upgrade and I keep getting a message every few minutes in the middle of the screen telling me there’s an update. It still keeps popping up regardless of what option I choose. I like this app so I hope they fix the bugs soon.
Pro Version has Google Ads !
Why... I paid to get rid of Ads and they are still in pro version. Otherwise great app.
Enjoying, paid, however...
Hi guys, I am enjoying the app. It has alot of great info and navigating is quite good as well. I have upgraded and paid for the full experience (which I recommend) however, alot of the time the information in the lists seem to be loading over the top of each other and I get a corrupted display. Its like text sitting on top of text. Can this please be addressed? I could then give you 5 stars. Cheers
