Bad for travellers
This app requires a mobile number. Ubigi, Simafly ect don’t provide phone numbers. This makes the app useless amd impossible to sign up.
Super convenient
Good app, plenty of spots to pick up and drop off, easy use. Be aware that app is in Japanese and currently does not fully support English speakers. Apart from that it’s well worth.
It’s all in Japanese
The luup app appears in Japanese it also charges you 15 yen by the minute. We couldn’t pause the rides and we couldn’t check the bikes in as parked for two hrs because the app was hung …… We paid for time not used
Cannot register whilst in Japan
We wanted to use LUUP as a family because we saw so many rental and return points and there were bikes right outside our hotel which was so convenient. Unfortunately we could not register whilst in Japan. We have data only eSIMs, so could not get the verification code sent to phone to register in the app. It would be great if you could allow verification codes sent to email as an option instead of phone only.
Couldn’t scan in drivers license
No matter how much I tried it wouldn’t scan my drivers license. What a waste of time.
Visa registration keeps failing
I verify my details, I get a message from Stripe saying it's approved but when I return to app, it says failed. Poor experience
Unlimited pass waste of time
Needing to create a jp Amazon account is such a waste of time and unnecessarily convoluted just to purchase the pass why is it not an in app process . Then having to wait over an hour for Amazon to send it. SO frustrating.
Can’t register
How can I register for use in Japan with data only eSIM? I can’t receive the sms to verify my phone number!
