I found a fishing pole before I found food now I see what children in Canada feel like

I played this game years ago and enjoyed it a lot. I noticed now that there are some forced ads. Ok, I got it. The problem I have is that you need green gems to progress, and the ads that you voluntarily watch to get them won’t give you the rewards. Watch a dozen ads, and it still won’t give you any rewards. Closing the game out and reopening it MIGHT get you a reward, but then it goes right back to denying them. This game is unplayable now.

I get its an idle game. But even for one of those it’s pretty boring. Slow, long progression. Also Ive watched many ads to help me out in the game for perks and just about half those seem to not go through. I watch the ad which Im sure makes you your money. But then i dont get my wheel spin. Or my multiplier. Or my kraken fight. At first I chalked it to a bug in the game. But it’s happened wayy to often now to be a “bug”

I enjoy the slow progression of these types of games. They are all very ad driven I understand this and I don’t mind watching ads in order to progress. However, the ads in this game DO NOT WORK. Your required to watch ads to open gem chests, spin the wheel and for the idle double up but when you watch the ads they simply DO NOT WORK most times. If this was fixed it would be a 5/5 to me

Fun but too many bugs lately.
Edit: after most recent update, still not working. You can watch the ads and receive skill points for it but will rarely receive the reward. Very fun and enjoyable, but if you haven’t started playing yet I wouldn’t recommend at this point. I love this game but lately when you spin the wheel or watch an ad to get gems, it becomes a gamble whether you will receive the reward or not. It’s simply not worth it. I sunk a LOT of money into this game when it was still good, and would watch ads and play consistently, but now the rewards don’t appear half the time and the developers are unresponsive. I wouldn’t bother with the game at this point, but if someday the bugs are fixed, I will update my review.

Buggy Ad-Watching Simulator
Attempting to play Hooked Inc is a tragic experience. The graphics are pleasant, and their take on the typical mobile idle-game is unique enough to make it pretty enjoyable when the game actually works as intended. Unfortunately, the frequent, obnoxious ads ruin the experience and make the game nearly unplayable. I played this game quite a bit a few years ago (before COVID), but deleted it in frustration from the incessant random ads, and the optional ads failing to register and give the promised rewards. Now, 6+ years later, the ad problem appears to have only gotten worse. I understand the “watch-ads-to-play” model has become the industry-standard for mobile games, but how is it acceptable to force a random, unskippable ad every 1-2 minutes? And how has the issue with ad rewards not registering gone unaddressed for over 6 years? Some of the ads are 60+ seconds long and require you to interact with them in some way for them to finish. When trying to open chests, spin the wheel, or double your login bonus, you have to watch 3-4 of these ads before the reward actually registers. When you finally give up with trying to fight the game into giving you the promised rewards, you’re given a random ad. For example, when opening crates, you have the option to watch an ad and double the reward, or open it immediately for a half-reward. Even when I try to open it for the half-reward, I’m given an ad anyway. I’ve played a few similar idle-style mobile games, and none ever had issues with ad-rewards failing to register. Since Hooked Inc has had this issue for at least 6 years now, I’m convinced the devs either have no interest/capability in making the game function, OR they purposely withhold rewards at random to make you watch more ads. Either way, it makes this game not worth your time; I honestly think filling your underwear with fire ants and chewing on shards of broken glass would be less irritating than attempting to play Hooked Inc.

Fun but annoying
Anytime I watch an ad for a reward it just doesn’t give the reward 90% of the time. I’m forced to watch multiple ads just to get one reward and it gets annoying. Not only that but they also have audacity to force many ads in your face during this process too. If the forced ads were turned down a notch or became rewarded ads that actually work it’d fix this issue. Besides this jarring issue the gameplay loop is fun and the events are enjoyable.
Pretty good but…
It’s pretty fun, I found myself playing for hours because it’s so easy to lock in on swiping on the fish, but there’s just too many in app purchases. Of course, they’re always optional, you can watch ads for rewards. But for some of them, you can choose to accept the reward as is or double it by watching an ad, and even if you don’t choose to double it, an ad plays either way. I understand it’s a small dev team, maybe even an indie developer, but as someone who bought the “No forced ads” pack, it feels kind of like a waste if there are still ads. It would feel worth the money if that pack included more perks than what’s actually included. Besides that, it’s pretty enjoyable. Would love more games from this dev. :)

Inappropriate ads TW:NSFW
This game is not for adults but i received NSFW ads every ad (which is a lot. Once a minute or so). There is no report button, “not interested” doesn’t work. Used to love this game but cannot support explicit content on supposedly safe apps.

Rewards for ads issue
When I try watch ads for rewards like 1-10 free gems or to spin the profit bonus wheel nothing ever happens and I get no rewards, please fix this issue. I should have so many gems but I’m stuck at 47 and can’t continue quests because I need more gems to purchase another fisherman :(

I have this game and the ad I just saw for it is absolutely fake. There is no combo system except for the schools of fish and you cannot skip ahead to a more powerful boat without having to go through the other ones first Please, for your own self-respect and for the sake of the market at this point, remove the fake at and make it more truthful You are trading long-term success for short-term gains which also creates distrust between game developers like you and the consumers a.k.a. us

Can’t get rewards from watching ads
Using the spinning wheel by watching an ad takes five ads to get the wheel to spin, even though the game knows you’ve watched an ad because your total level-up points increase by ten after every ad watched. This needs to be fixed immediately and is ruining such a great game

An sich eine sehr schöne Idee. Aber in der Umsetzung ist es nicht ausreichend. Warum braucht man so extrem hohe ungewöhnliche Summen für neue Inseln? Octillionen und Septillionen etc. Noch nie erlebt. Irgendwann ist es nur noch langweilig weil man nicht mehr weiter kommt aufgrund dieser hohen Summen. Und was kann man im Spiel schon machen? Außer alles kaufen um auf nächste Level (Boot, Crew etc.) zu bekommen. Man kann nur mit dem Finger über den Bildschirm wischen & meist die gleichen Fische fangen.
