What people like
- Great for creating spooky Halloween effects
- Fun music sync and disco modes
- No annoying in-app purchases required
- Good alternative if you hate the official app
What they complain about
- Support never replies to emails
- Pro version not shareable with family
- Cannot easily turn off ambient sounds
- Interface is confusing and hard to use
Better alternative to the official app!
After Philips announced they were requiring account setup on their app to even use the product you bought before this change for “security,” I decided to venture to different options to control my hue lights. Luckily a buddy told me about HueDynamic, and I installed and setup everything like I would. I love the interface more on this app, and the added effects built in really made this worth the purchase of getting pro as well. Thanks!
Please don’t buy
You can’t even create your own scenes or set up a room or do anything that’s important that you wanna do. It feels like it stays in demo mode, but you pay for the fool version do not recommend
Good app
Tokyo & Wonderland are faves
Slow app fix it!
The app is slow you can fix it!
Good, but…
Probably the best app for Hue light systems, but I positively despise the touch implementation on the Light Control screen. The slightest missed tap on any given lighting group activates the slider that takes you to the detail screen for the light group. This makes simple taps on any given icon very frustrating. The correct implementation would be for only a tap on the > icon to activate the slider. Please fix.
Wonderful app, just needs one small feature added
We’ve had lots of fun with it this Halloween by using a motion sensor, my existing hue landscape lights, and a Bluetooth speaker to scare unsuspecting people approaching the front door. It would be even better if I could choose multiple experiences to trigger from the one motion sensor, so it would either play an experience at random (from the ones i selected), or make a “playlist” of sorts that it would go through if it continued to be triggered over a short period of time. Also, the ability to schedule the trigger on and off times would be awesome, as I like to leave it running, but hearing the creepy heart beat and “Paaaaaaybaaaaack!” Voice when I go out to check the mail in the morning doesn’t really work. Haha
Power cut option should be free
The fact you have this option behind a paywall is crazy! It should be a primary, standard FREE feature in the original Philips hue app.
No use outside UK
When I am outside of the UK I can’t connect to this. You have no motion sensors connected to your bridge is the error message. Hue has no problem connecting.
Stop working
Can not find hue bridge I gave up
Ambient sound
Looked everywhere. Can’t control (turn off) what is sometime the VERY annoying ambient sound.
Very good supplement to Hue experience
A great deal of fun. 2 feature requests. Not complaining just 2 things that would make more awesome. First is update to take advantage of the gradient light strips. Second is better music/disco functions vis a vis light templates.
App does not connect to Bridge
Running iPad Pro or iPhone, can’t connect to bridge, making it uselesss.
Awesome app for Philips Hue
Really cool app covering a wide range of possibilities all in one. Camera feature is especially good as it lets you have something similar to the Hue Sync Box for a fiver. Stick a couple (or more) colour hue bulbs behind your tv and you can even have a slightly lesser version of Hue Gradient Lightstrip for a fraction of the cost! What would be cool is adding optional relaxing sounds to the ambiances.
Just Ok
Tried it out. One big problem for an app that claims to do everything for hue. It has no way to find your previously created scenes. Ok no problem I’ll just recreate them in this app. Oh wait where is it, can’t find it, it seems this app cannot create scenes. My whole reason for trying this app was so my daughter could use her smart button button to set a specific scene either during the day or during bedtime (for her night light). You see we built her a loft bed and she need to be able to toggle on a non-blinding light from two very specific lights in her room but only during specific times (during bedtime). I can do this in the normal hue app except I have to set the same scene for 5 presses, but guess what happens on the sixth press (even if it hasn’t been pressed for hours), everything shuts off even her tv that we have programmed to a smart switch. I don’t need the tv turning off during the day, only during the night. This is not achievable with the hue app and is apparently not with this one either. My suggestion is keep looking if you want actual usability instead of just pretty pre configured light shows.
Family Sharing Problem
I purchased the app and upgraded to the Pro version great app and I’m enjoying all the different lighting options . Problem came when my wife downloaded the app we are on Family Sharing but she is expected to pay another £4.99 for the pro version . Money not the issue just expected it to be shareable with family members on the same account .
Great; Lots of Free Ambiences
Great; Lots of Free Ambiences
Garbage
Unresponsive, slow, no updates, no response from the developer. Please avoide this app
I’d love to see integration with Siri Shortcuts!
This app definitely outshines its competitors, especially given its lack of in-app purchases. Nothing better than a one time commitment to get the features you’re after. I’d REALLY love to see some integration with Siri Shortcuts. The ability to create automations that trigger dynamic lighting modes would be a fantastic addition to an already great piece of software.
Unintuitive
All the functionality is there and works well. It’s just so confusing to use. The interface needs some work.
Falta compatibilidad con atajos
Lástima que no sea compatible con atajos, por lo demás muy recomendable
Outstanding App
Simply the best app for Philips Hue. Love the sound experiences.
Not maintained at all
No update in over a year. Dev could not care less about optimising it to function well with the ever changing nature of iOS.. Therefore this app is poor in quality, integration, speed - along with having several bugs such as freezing Only one third party Hue app on here is still genuinely worked on.. and it’s the only app that should still be allowed to have money collected from. Have requested refund with Apple as it’s my right to withdraw from a non-working purchase
Only one thing missing.
So after testing other apps, I ended up purchasing this one. Very good UI and like the various ambience and experiences included. Only have ONE request - I appreciate the disco feature “sync to what it hears” but I’d really like to see sync with music from iTunes or other streaming services. The point is that a microphone sync isn’t always handy. So that means the app need to access onboard music apps and not necessarily via the microphone.
Free vs. Paid Features Need to be Clearer
Whilst using the app it is not clear what features require the ‘Pro’ version, so you will waste time configuring things only to realise when you attempt to save the settings. Considering I have already paid the “Philips Hue tax” I am not prepared to spend even more on this stuff so I would rather those paywalled features are hidden. Or just do away with the pointless free version and go paid only.
This App Could Be Awesome But....
I have been using this app for about six months love it but one thing it drives me mad is for some reason I’m using the disco version and the lights stop working if your having a party it’s so annoying I have to exit the app and press play then in about hour it’s done it again please fix this then I’ll give you five stars also love the iPad version does it as well
Hue lights
App works well once you understand how to use it
Terrible App
This app is a piece of garbage. All the effects are like a strobe light. Nothing is chill. They all flicker your lights like a rock show at full energy. Id give this -5 stars if i could
Great app but...
It would be great if you could add saved favorites to Siri. Can’t believe that is not possible with Hue Dynamic. You can easily add scenes using the Hue app. Otherwise this is a great app for Hue bulb users. I’ll give it 5 stars if they update it with Siri functionality.
Crashes always
Really annoying, it keeps crashing after startup. Waste of money
Nette App
Really love
This is such a cool app. I recently purchased hue lights and think this app is a great compliment to the lights. I can’t wait to explore all the features.
Doesn’t connect without bridge
Don’t have your slogan “literally everything”, then it should do everything
Schade..
No support?
I sent an email twice to support several weeks ago and then again a week or so later. - no reply. Is this app actually supported? My 2* rating will go up if I get a reply ;)
UI is really hard to understand
The UI is really hard to understand, reminds me of a crappy Windows app, not well thought out at all, needs much improvement to be more Mac/iOS like!
app
This is working great!😀
Hmmmm
You can’t save any configurations unless you buy the pro version so it looks like the free version is pointless. Also not sure if the tap is worth the money anyway. I’ve been using the dimmer switch which is less expensive and seems to do just as much if not more.
No Siri connection?
Basically I like the app very much, but unfortunately I can't find a way to connect the groups and scenes with Siri or to create Siri shortcuts.
It is NOT Worning on A IPhon 6 White IOS 12.4.2
It is NOT Worning it open and Then it shut Down
Honest rating from a honestly not so honest person but being honest about this 😂
I think this app is cool. I love falling to sleep or doing work in random mood lightings. I especially love the fireplace one. I do think though there should be more options for falling to sleep other than rain and waterfall.
Support?
Not sure if the support for this app was dropped but it keeps disconnecting from my hue bridge after hue update.
Sounds
Cool app, but could someone tell me how to turn off the sounds for the pre-made themes. So so annoying.
Do not use with Smart Plugs connected to Hue
It uses all devices known to the bridge not only hue lamps. So I got some smart plugs and the bridge declares them as on/off lamps so if you use e.g. Thunderstotm it will turn your plugs on and off...
Better than Hue’s own app
I’ve had a version of this app on my Surface Pro for quite a while and just recently installed the iOS version on my iPhone X. I just love it. The color schemes are great, both the static and dynamic ones. I also will occasionally sync them to music which is fun. Very user friendly and intuitive to use . Highly recommended.
Crashes
Now crashes constantly since last iOS update.
Great Hue App
The app is really good, stuff works well and is responsive. One complain that I have is that there is no landscape view in the camera which makes it really weird to frame a shot. Otherwise the app is really good.
Can’t share the upgrade
I downloaded this app for my girlfriends house. Set it up. Wanted it for the child lock feature. It’s only good for one day unless you upgrade to the pro version, which I did. Upgrades are not shareable. I have six phones I want to share this with. I will not be buying 5 more copies of this at 4.99 a pop. Seems like a good app, but will probably not use it now.
