Great app

This was supposed to be a holding place for cash I would normally spend on things I didn’t need. Over the last 2 years I had started to invest and learn. My portfolio slowly built to +62% I am so glad I found this app and I hope it does well for you too

Absolutely horrible customer service.

Didn’t deposit my etransfer because they’re having “issues”. Cannot reach anyone to ask when they’ll stop having “issues”. No idea where my money went because the other bank said it was deposited.

Great UI, but stop removing features

Love the app for everyday investing and saving because the UI is incredibly simple and easy to use. It’s really annoying when they add good features like EPS, earnings reports, and the wealth rank, just to randomly remove them later. You should just add a toggle in the settings to let us keep them turned on.

Three major issues with receiving and sending e-transfers

Issue 1: E-transfer deposits via email link don’t work (two fold problem) This is actually two problems layered on top of each other. First, the app itself cannot deposit an Interac e-Transfers through the email link when a security question is required — there’s a glitch that blocks the deposit outright. The only reliable way to receive an e-Transfer is to have Auto-Deposit set up in advance, or to use a web browser. If you try to deposit with app and without auto deposit, the link is broken from the email. Second, even trying to work around this is broken. There is no way to open the email link in a browser instead of the app — no “open in browser” option exists. Since the app fails to process the deposit, and the link forces it to open in the app anyway, the only workaround is to delete the app entirely so the link is forced to open in a browser instead, where the deposit actually works. Issue 2: E-Transfer money requests can’t be fulfilled via email link either If a third party sends the user a request for money, the app has the same problem. The user cannot fulfill that request through the email link — the app fails to process the payment and the funds never get sent to the third party. When the user clicks the email link to fulfill the request, it simply opens the app and does nothing else — it doesn’t offer any action to actually fulfill the request. It just automatically opens the app, and that’s it. How incredibly silly, to make users, delete the app over and over again, simply to deposit e-transfers… yikes. It’s too bad because everything else is great.

It was good until this recent update wanted to this app all about simplicity and they even got rid of top gainers section for stocks.

Frequent bugs, higher than the actual transaction deduction

Often bug, often unable to buy and sell transactions, resulting in missing the opportunity. The fee deduction is higher than the actual transaction, and each transaction will be calculated according to Canadian dollars. For example, I obviously made a profit of 50, but I actually lost money after selling!

How Not To Fix Your UI

Still plagued with basic reliability issues in the app and their back-end. But the real issue is the constant reduction of UI efficiency as they gamify their platform. On the “plus” side, if you like gambling, this is your brand! Or cheesy contests which no one seems to quite win, but we’re constantly reminded of. But for investing? They’re more or less dog waste now. “Taking over your life” should probably be, “Watch us spiral.” And still… How can Wealthsimple market 'paycheque-to-crypto' tools (!) when they and their own regulator (CIRO) struggle to keep our SIN numbers safe?

Quand je utiliser l’appli c’est English forward and you can tell. Second issue Étudiants??? Big banks and other credit lenders have nice deals for student line of credit and credit card offerings but the baseline credit card uni students have to pay 20$ as most of them are full time and aren’t working that much to meet requirements to make it zero. More internships and jobs for uni students too if there is more undergrads working they can make the corporation better and can put their issues and voices towards improving this app and business.

I love it

I have switched 99.9% of my banking over to Wealthsimple and am enjoying everything about it. It’s not for everyone — if you still have a landline and write a cheque to buy groceries, this app isn’t for you — but if you are reasonably technically and financially competent and want greater control over your own wealth than traditional banks allow (with their ridiculously expensive management fees), you should seriously try Wealthsimple.

Simplicity!

I absolutely love the Wealthsimple app. What really stands out to me is its simplicity—the app feels thoughtfully designed with the idea that anyone and everyone should be able to use it comfortably. Compared to other financial apps I’ve tried, I genuinely find myself wanting to do everything through Wealthsimple. The experience is intuitive, clean, and never feels overwhelming. Whoever is on your design team, please don’t let them go! 😄 In my opinion, this is Wealthsimple’s biggest USP and one of the main reasons I keep coming back to the app.

App eats data. Prediction markets are corrupt

I don’t understand how an app like this eats so much data. I have limited data and it’s one of the highest consumers, beating streaming videos and images. Also, they have entered the corrupt world of prediction markets, betting on every day events. It’s too bad because they would be good otherwise.

Very buggy

I like wealthsimple as a broker and being the first to go zero commission in Canada, but the app has become junk. I get the black bar of doom where the bottom half of the screen is blocked off and I can’t see anything. I also have an issue where the on screen keyboard does not show up when trying to place a market/fractional order. The app also seems to heat up the phone to the point where it starts to freeze and there a 10 second delay per interaction. Never had this many issues with a trading app before. No issues with Questrade, webull or TD
