Where’s the device/node affinity?
Computers on my network can only use printers and scanners connected to the same mesh nodes. But with no way to set an affinities for those devices, they almost never connect with each other. And because there’s no way to adjust the power output of each node, I cannot adjust the WiFi overlap to compensate. These features are not futuristic. They’ve been available in WiFi nodes for decades now. I don’t understand why they’re not obvious inclusions for these products.

Man wünscht sich auch mehr Einstellungsmöglichkeiten, um die Leistung zu optimieren.

Lost all customised device names
I’ve spent ages typing all the device names for the connected clients, now this update has lost them all and just says Generic Device. Really unhelpful. Also the Devolo Magic 2 devices have a habit of rebooting randomly and causing connection loss. No firmware updates for a couple of years.

An app without a purpose
Ok, so it allows you name an adapter (which is only of use within the App), and it allows you to identify an adapter by flashing the lights. Other than that it’s pretty useless - the “network topology” appears a logical topology and is useless, there’s no “update firmware” button (there’s a browse to firmware file buried in the advanced settings but that relies on you having the correct file), and it doesn’t even show the speed between adapters (again, you can find this buried in advanced settings but it’s not easy). There are a few other things you can tweak but I’m genuinely really disappointed by the lack of functionality. I’ll try the cockpit software but this app scores a lowly 2/5 for me as it simply does so little.

Taken hostage for restarting
Please remove the unnecessary delay when restarting the adapters that takes over the entire screen and won’t let me do anything for a minute and a half. When I have to restart more than one adapter at a time it’s getting in the way without any real benefit. This is bad UX.

Why do they make it so hard?
The instruction manuals for devolo kit are useless once the modules don’t immediately spring into life correctly. This has long been an irritant so it is no surprise, regrettably, that trying to fix things via the app is also a complete pain in the youknowwhat.

Nach dem Lesen der schlechten Bewertungen habe ich Devolo Magic mit dem Handbuch installiert, und danach die App geladen. Funktioniert einwandfrei, und zeigte mir sofort an, dass ein Software Update auf den Geräten empfohlen war. Lässt sich mit der App sofort auslösen. Mit der App lässt sich die Mesh überprüfen, den Gastzugang aktivieren und anderes.
Keeps crashing
I bought a new Magic 2 Mesh WiFi 6 whole home kit to replace the dLan 1200 Powerline network throughout the house. Which still works fine but isn’t as stable or fast on my newer devices. And I wanted to have a network that is “future proof” for a while at least. I used the app to set up the mesh. Followed the instructions perfectly. Set up went fine and then once the new mesh was running, now the app crashes and shuts down every time I try to tap on any of the adapters in Network Overview. So the app is essentially useless.

Der zwischenzeitlich eingeführte Accountzwang wurde glücklicherweise sehr schnell wieder entfernt, die sehr schnelle Reaktion muss man positiv erwähnen. Generell ist es eine ordentliche App, nicht weltbewegendes, hat aber ein paar nützlich Informationen. Ich nutze sie mit meinen Powerline-Geräten Magic 2 LAN

Very temperamental and closes down network
At first I was really impressed with this app but when exploring what could be done with it-ie sending data to Devolo - on pressing GO it crashed the network. I had to factory reset each device to get running again. It did this on 2 occasions. Deleted the app and currently reliant on old windows 10 laptop running devolo - cockpit. Very nervous about installing it again
Pas parfaite mais fait le job
L’application n’est pas parfaite mais elle évolue dans le bon sens au fur et à mesure des mises a jour. Mes cpl sont également plus performants que les précédents.
Terrible but no other option
It’s not great. But on iPhone no other option. The Cockpit software available on desktop is better. Why can’t a company like devolo learn from the likes of ASUS and design an app with intuitive UX - ? Seems mad. I bought devolo because of the good quality of the powerline engineering IN SPITE of the terrible app. But it’s already making me almost want to change my setup. also - less than basic parental controls don’t help.
Was soll der Unsinn?
Warum um alles in der Welt soll ich nach dem letzten Update ein Konto bei Devolo anlegen??? Die damit einhergehenden Versprechen einer einfachen Garantieverlängerung oder einer schnelleren, personalisierten Unterstützung oder direkter Zugang zu Software-Updates interessieren mich absolut nicht. Bin seit vielen Jahren ohne diese Dinge sehr gut klargekommen. So ist der ganze Kram nicht mehr nutzbar und trägt wohl oder übel zur Erhöhung des Elektroschrotts bei. Bravo. Habt Ihr toll gemacht. (Ich erwarte keine Antwort!) 18.04.2025 Ich habe es nicht geglaubt, aber es ist passiert! Man kann die App wieder ohne Kontenzwang nutzen, als Gast. Klingt zwar nicht so toll wie ‚geschätzter Kunde‘, aber egal. Ich kann mein kleines Netzwerk weiter nutzen wie bisher. Danke dafür!

Very bad app
Useless, can’t locate devices despite following instructions to the letter
Magic 2 lan adapters
Failed to install using the ios and iPadOS app, so installed them manually by resetting them, used Cockpit on the laptop to update the firmware on both adapters, now both apps are working.
Not impressive
The app, freshly downloaded, finds all my 4 Devolo Magic 2 devices, then tells me: “Your current Magic network requires a firmware upgrade to enable full support by this app. Please use the Update option in the main menu.” BUT …. the 4 brand new Devolo Magic 2 LAN only (no WiFi) devices on my network all had their firmware updated by me immediately on installation, ie, the firmware on all 4 is up to date. So the app looks a tad flaky to me …
App could do with having Devolo in the app title
Okay app. It’d be useful if a search for ‘Devolo’ found it when searching for apps on an iPhone, which it doesn’t. Most odd.
Easy
It is difficult to see how any installation process of a sophisticated system such as this could be made any simpler. The app takes you through every step and explains all possible error conditions. I must Arte piece of software for an excellent hardware system.

Am Anfang war noch alles ok. Ich habe alle Adapter gesehen. Doch nach ein paar Tagen ist jetzt nichts mehr zu sehen und die App hängt sich dann auch gleich auf. Bitte um Update!!!!
Now switches to using Safari
Since upgrading to iPadOS 14.5, all activity beyond the network overview screen has switched to working under Safari, making the app almost irrelevant. One might as just use the web interface in native mode - under a browser - and ignore the app once the devices are installed. Surely the app should front the web interface completely and enable one to stay connected to all devices and easily switch between them rather than having to switch between them and keep having to enter the password each time.

Far too often it just says it has no access to my local network and no devices connected. 10mins later it might find them it might not. So temperamental

Unreliable
When it works it's useful, I found it easy to configure my network using this app, much easier than reading the very bad documentation. The main problem is that it can be frustratingly slow, particularly loading a device configuration page. Given the indicated powerline connection speed of around 500 Mbs why can it take, sometimes, more than a minute to display the configuration data for a device? The Linux Cockpit software works perfectly, the configuration page is displayed in a browser and there is still some delay but much less than when using this app. I suspect the Internet is involved not just LAN traffic, but why would the app need to access the Internet when accessing a local device configuration page? I've now uninstalled the app from my iPad and will use the Linux Cockpit software.

A useful tool to check status of Devolo Home network
This App has been both reliable and quite useful. It helps me quickly check the status of my home Devolo dLan & WiFi Mesh network (Im using several 1200ac Mesh WiFi units). I also regularly use the MacOS PC version of this App to add new devices, to reconfigure, or to update the WIFI settings. I recommend this App. Im also quite surprised by the other negative reviews. In my opinion its reliable and worth having.
Blue screen freeze!
Useless App - now permanently frozen on the blue start-up screen. When first installed it mapped the 4 Devolo devices differently every time, and even then the functionality was very limited. Meanwhile, one of the four DEVOLO MAGIC 2 devices ALWAYS failed, so now left with 3 working and one sat next to a smart TV that we can’t use (kids bedroom) reminding us WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY DEVOLO TURNED OUT TO BE

Denke wenn bei der Erstinstallation die Reihenfolge und Anweisungen der Bedienungsanleitung befolgt werden sollte alles bestens funktionieren! Bei mir war jedenfalls alles perfekt!!! Auch die App funktioniert wunderbar! Kann also Devolo nur weiterempfehlen...
