Stressful
To have the bikes in un-friendly bike cities should be illegal especially when the bikes do not feature phone-holders and therefore you have a lot of one-handed bicyclists watching their phones to get around/navigating cities that do not have bike lanes and no helmets required for the one-handers. To assure yourself you’re going the correct direction you’ll need to pull-over on the sidewalks into walking traffic.
Fun but expensive!
I live the bikes, the price is a bit high for visitors. The baskets make a lot of noise. Overall awesome!
Day pass scam for ebikes
The “Day Pass” is misleading. It sounds like you’re paying a fixed price for all-day use, but it’s actually just prepaid credit toward e-bike rides. We ended up being charged significantly more than the Day Pass price. This should be called a “Prepaid Pass” and the additional charges should be clearly disclosed upfront.
Riding is great, docking is not
Love riding but docking is a problem. Unfortunately it takes many tries to dock almost every time I get a bike.

Getting Lyft to run Divvy scams public
I bike all the time using the bike share bikes in Washington DC. Lyft operates them there too. But at least there the charges are reasonable. In Chicago they’re like eight times as much. As an operator, they seem to only invest in providing electric bikes to force the public to pay more rather than the cheper non-electric bikes. Every station I’ve seen in CHi only has electric bikes in them.
Fleet maintenance needed!
Increasingly, the DIVVY bikes I use need minor or major maintenance. Perhaps it’s time to update the Chicago fleet and bring in new bikes.
More expensive than taking an uber. Crazy fees and constant price hikes
I used city bike in New York for years and have used Divvy bikes in Chicago for the past four. First of all, it’s ridiculous that you can’t use one membership in both cities, considering both companies are owned by Lyft. The bikes work decently, although they not electric ones are extremely slow. At least a few months, I was getting charged a crazy $25 fee for “incorrect parking” despite having parts exactly as they asked. I had to start taking photos and videos of how I parked. They did refund me when I sent photos but never admitted that the fee was incorrectly charged. Prices have been going up like crazy. It was $1 to park outside the station and it’s doubled since then. Never mind the 15 cents/minute e bike cost becoming 20 cents/minute or the membership fee going up significantly. Taking an e bike is often as or even more expensive than just taking an uber at this point…
Better than the Lyft app
Works well for using the Divvy system, but the mapping feature would be much better if you could just search for a specific station and view bike availability without having to know a nearby address. Also, to be able to have a favorites list of stations you could easily check would be wonderful.
Incredible service but
Divvy is an amazing service. But the bikes are starting to show their age. Mostly problems with the shifters on pedal bikes. But you’re amazing and life changing.
Terrible Docking Stations
They need to replace their docking stations or figure out a better locking method since half the time I try to dock my bike I get a “bike is not properly docked” message in the app. Needs a better solution.
Generally Great but Large Failures Occur!
For my 3+ months as a Divvy subscriber, I’ve generally loved it and have found the app to typically work seamlessly. Recently tho, a bug popped up that ruins it all. When I hit the scan button, a black screen pops up and it won’t scan the QR on the bikes. My camera otherwise works just fine. I can only ride e-bikes by typing in the code manually. Could yall please fix and Id be happy to make this a positive review if you do.
Membership Card in Apple Wallet?
When is Divvy rollling out annual membership cards in mobile wallets to check out bikes with NFC technology? I can’t wait for the day I can tap a divvy bike with my Apple Watch wallet and start riding right away.
Works perfect and convenient
This app works perfect for getting rental bikes. Rented a day pass as a tourist, works fine with eg german telephone number and every booking was processed correctly. Everything fine!
awful
if you stop at a red light your bike will end the ride and charge you an additional fee for not ending your ride at a divvy station. an abysmal app.
I wish you can navigate to the divvy bike racks
It’s kind of silly but the amount of time this program existed you can’t just plug in where you want to go and the app opening Google Maps and navigating to the bike rack instead of the actual location..
Expensive
The app works as it should and you can find bikes and unlock them easily assuming you have payment set up on your phone. Be wary of the day pass though as that only gives you the classic bikes free for the first 3 hours. The day pass is around $23 however. The e-bikes are like 44¢ a minute. We bought a day pass and rode the e-bikes for maybe 60-75 minutes and a classic for about 15 minutes and we paid about $61 total for that day including the pass. It’s just too expensive to enjoy. The bikes of both varieties functioned well but the e-bikes are a rough ride.
Works as it should
Follow the rules, park it correctly, and you'll be fine. Only used it for 7 mins for fun. Not sure about those no go zones people talk about.
Terrible support
Without a membership it’s cheaper to take a car, as I assume they intend. With a membership, it’s a good deal. I used Divy on & off for years, sometimes daily. Until I had an issue & couldn’t unlock anything. Support brushed me off & lied to me. I saved the shooort chat if anyone wants to reach out.
Camera to lock scooters works 25% of the time
Generally app is fine, but the camera to lock a scooter not at a dock RARELY works, so you get stuck on customer service chat forever trying to explain that you’ve locked the scooter but the camera to prove it doesn’t work. They need to fix this!!
Divvy Fan for sure!
Divvy is the best ride around. It’s my favorite way to travel in my neighborhood and beyond. Mostly I ride the ebikes… 2430 rides so far covering 2785 miles during more than 1000 hours of fun. I carry the little blue Divvy key and that works fine for me. Now Divvy should extend the Divvy app to work on cellular smartwatches to let us pause rides and maybe do more. Often the Divvy app on the mobile phone remains at home because the full service watch is much more convenient outdoors. Yes, I’m a Divvy fan. Give me Divvy!
Unfriendly app, extremely expensive
Could not include friends to ride together after i bought one pass. Does not make sense to offer pass with e bikes, makes it extremely expensive. Could not install on my daughter’s phone, so we were left with one bike paid for with day pass.
Misleading
The poster next to the bikes says 15 dollars per day or 3 dollars for 30 minutes, but it doesn't explain that the price is only for regular bikes and not ebikes. Ebikes are 39 cents per minute which add up pretty quickly. Other than that the Ebikes work great, pricey but good.
Good when it works but generally it doesn’t
Extremely unreliable. On top of this divvy has charged me for “free” rides multiple times. There is never parking, or on the flip side there are rarely bikes in the racks
Don’t use divvy if you want to keep your money
Double charged me and two of my friends for the daily pass and the trip we took even though they established that any trip under three hours doesn’t get extra charges. We were all out 40 dollars for less than 1 hour of riding.

Misleading day pass claims to be 19 for the whole day, but they still charge you by the minute.
