Processing time is bad
The app itself is okay for rhythm training but it gives you not time to process. For example it will give you a beat: 1 2 3 4. And instead of repeating it like most conductors do, it just immediately starts.
Laggy; Need More Dots
The app is laggy on older devices, and basically unusable altogether on Bluetooth. Need more dotted notes; they should have a dedicated practice session.
Needs microphone support
Overall, this is a decent app and I appreciate that it lets you use it for 10 minutes a day without a subscription. That said, the subscription model feels completely unnecessary—this is essentially a static app that doesn’t rely on AI, servers, or heavy syncing. I’d gladly pay a one-time fee of $10 or so instead. My biggest gripe, aside from the subscription issue, is the lack of microphone support. It would be much more useful if you could practice with your actual instrument instead of just tapping on the screen. Get rid of the rental nonsense and add microphone and it would be five star app.

App was awesome but a random delay started happening.
Poorly thought out
This app does not give you enough time to see what rhythm is coming up. Musicians read ahead of where the music is to be able to execute on time. You cannot give me the upcoming measure on the downbeat of that measure! Waste of time.
Solid app — one additional feature would make it great.
I have the paid version and from what’s available my ability to sight read rhythm has definitely improved. However, there is one feature that would really take this app to the next level. I would really love to be able to program in a particular rhythm — not a full song length, but a few measures — so that I can drill tricky rhythms in songs I’m reading more effectively. This way I’d have some way to hear where I’m going wrong, with a “teacher” that knows when I play it correctly. Overall it’s a great app and I’d recommend it for anyone struggling with reading rhythms.
Ok
This app would be amazing but there is no compound meter (no 6/8 or 3/8 or 9/8 etc). As a teacher using this to drill rhythm skills with my students, that is a big disappointment.

There no counter
If you dont know the count or cant get it theres no way to get it and all you end up doin is guessing when to hit it not actually learning to count the beats
Good app but steep price
It's a really good app with potential to make it big but stalled by a huge paywall. I think if the creator makes it a 1 time fee of $7-$15 or even $20 it could be worth it. $60 a year is too much for a simple rhythm app, at that price you can do statistics or extended rhythm games.
Fine EXCEPT
This app is helping our daughter learn to dictate rhythm and I do like the app. However, in the dictation exercises you cannot replay the rhythm which is super annoying. You only hear it once and in a busy home it’s super frustrating that if she doesn’t get it the first time she has to start all over again. In my opinion this ruins the app for us.
Could be better
With the songs it’s not exactly telling you which beat to follow and when you don’t get all the greens it doesn’t tell you the percent which I for some reason like to know but anyway as a rhythm guitar player this makes absolutely no sense to me I feel like this would defo help as a drummer tho and also the 10 minute timer needs to go
No guitar teacher ever tells you
To play nice and smoothly in rhythm it needs to be in your bones. I came upon MRT and it changed my guitar playing forever. Finally felt comfortable with rhythm, can sing over chord playing and enjoy guitar. How did I get there? Playing with this app 5 minutes a day for a few weeks. It’s great because you can do it anywhere, anytime. Now I feel the rhythm and know I’m on beat rather hoping.

you can only use the app for about 5 minutes, before they demand you pay to be able to use any features at all. if you don’t pay for their monthly subscription, then the app is no longer functional.
Good but few key missing parts
Great app but the lack of repeating the rhythm when doing the writing part isn’t ideal. There needs to be a replay option as it’s already difficult as it is with going on first time and resetting people back.
Incorrect notation
Rhythms are often written in a non-conventional and frankly confusing manner which makes it a very poor “trainer", and frustrating to sightread. 8th note barred to a 16th followed by 2 16th rests followed by 8th note barred to a 16th on beats 1 and 2? Why? Is there no staccato 8th note option? Even if there is, it’s a tapping game: why the need for such articulation? Musicians aren’t used to seeing things like this. It’s confusing and unnecessary.
No countdown
I love this app, it is great but when you go to the learn part, there is no countdown for when to start clicking and it throws me off so much. PLEASE add a countdown.

Good for my students
Very helpful for getting my piano students to internalize basic rhythms. I wish it had a section with half notes and whole notes. I would absolutely buy the app to be able to use for more than 10 minutes, but paying $5 a month is definitely not worth it in my opinion
Cool app
Great concept, but very overpriced
Good but…
I have used this app for a few years now. I’ve been through all the training exercises and am now doing the practice exercises. Problem is I don’t seem to be getting any better. That might be me of course, but it doesn’t report my stats (I don’t think) and it doesn’t suggest any strategies to improve. Also the measurement of how many days streak can be annoying if you forget a day.

Broken since it doesn’t allow for simple quantization of input.
Not all phones are the same, not to mention that trying to tap a screen while holding it or when it’s on a smooth surface is NOT going to register correctly when this program is expecting input on the milliseconds. Needs a CALIBRATION TOOL or better yet an option to widen the accepted input timings. I played the same line in unison into Sibelius on a pad while also triggering the phone and Sibelius reported correct timings while this couldn’t even detect that an entire sequence was offset.

Extremely well designed concept…frustrating progress rewards
This is the most unusual feedback I’ve given for any app. The core design of this app is brilliant. I WISH I could love it.. But the timing response on my iphone 14 Pro is glitchy enough (or the tap feedback/timing is so strict) that even millisecond variations on complex rhythms (16th rests etc) are penalized and entire phrases take 3 or more successful iterations to advance….it’s SO frustrating that you’re ruining the gamification logic. Its like talking with someone who corrects the accent in your speech after every sentence. Its not fun. It makes me hate using it. Which is a tragedy because i want/need a tool like this. But this app makes me want to chuck my phone. 1. Allow for a configurable lenience to “griding” finger taps because the app isn’t accurate either. 2. Allow for advancing through the patterns with some incorrect without making someone get STUCK on a pattern…

Learning Rhythmics
The Learn portion of the app is great. The Practice (which seems to have no level select), and the Perform needs work. I recommend making a level select for Practice, and an infinite loop option for Learn. As for now, for me, Practice and Perform are too difficult to make use, and the Learn portion makes it difficult to put what you are learning into practice.
Not great
The streak counter doesn’t seem to work very well. Also I found trying to tap the 16th notes almost impossible and a relatively useless skill to develop. After 3 months I’m deleting and moving on.
Good but too expensive
Great app, but I’m looking for something else as £4.99 per month is way to much…shame they are so greedy.

Amazing but not worth subscription
How can they dare to ask for monthly subscription? They need competition, this is not meant to be monthly subscription but one payment only.
A good app but too easy?
Take my rating with a grain of salt because I only spend about 5 minutes using the app. It seems useful and the rhythm tapping registers nicely. There are several modes that can help with aural skills and would be beneficial to practice. My issue is that I took the placement test at the beginning and it put me at level 166 and I don’t see more levels. Maybe it could be more challenging?
Great idea and useful but limited and buggy.
When you’re doing semi quavers or even any note value the notes overlap each other. Even when doing it perfectly it says it’s wrong because it thinks you're trying to play a different note. This and the ten minutes a day dulls the experience exponentially.
Subscription!!
Way too expensive at £4.99 per month I would rather be able purchase it out right for one reasonable price. Other than that what I have tried it does seem to be a great little app to help with practicing your timing.

It works really well I am terrible at piano but this helps me a lot it’s very simple so even for a beginner this will work it teaches you really good rhythm and sight reading really awesome

A solid tool to learn rhythms
This is a very well designed app to learn rhythms. The exercises start out with basic rhythms and get complex as one makes progress. I love the feature where the tempo slows down automatically if one makes repetitive mistakes. I like the simplicity of the app. There are not too many configuration options to tinker. I think, $5 a month is a steep price to pay for what the app does. With the free version you get 10 minutes to practice on a daily basis, which is not bad. Certain options are still disabled. I am using another comparable app, ReadRhythm, for which, I paid a one time price $4. I would still place Rhythm Trainer as a superior product. Hopefully, a reasonable pricing will be in place, soon.
Potential to be good
Nice layout and idea, but performance is laggy when reviving rhythms. Other apps have a calibration function to combat this.
Good for beginners, not useful for experienced people for free
This app is cool, I like it quite a lot. I tested out of the entire app though by getting a perfect score. It brings you to lesson 166. I did the lesson, but you’re only able to do listen and repeat and then reading. You have to pay to practice writing and whatever 2 hands is. The infinite mode is fun, but it seems like everything is in 4/4. Also in the one 3/4 exercise I did in 166, there doesn’t seem to be an option to change it to a different hit on 1. Perhaps this is intentional to practice counting, but even DCI lines practice with delineated metronomes when they’re drilling stuff. The 10 minute limit is fine for the free version, it’s already limiting enough, idk why you’d charge $5 a month, it should just be a single charge. Overall this is indeed a fun app and it’s cool, but if you already know how to read and you’re an experienced musician, you’ll run out of things to do on it instantly and the price point is way too steep to warrant a more fun way of practicing, especially since you can practice by charting music in something like Muse of Finale for free (which is how I taught myself to read music when I was a kid)

It is fine, but it needs improvement.
It's pretty good. However, it doesn't really force you to read the Rhythms. It will tap the rhythm on audio before you play it which means that you don't actually need to look at the rhythms at all. You will get better at counting rhythm on a shallow level but it's unlikely that, as a beginner, you will gain any understanding of what the notes mean. It's a real shame because all they would need to do is add in the option to not hear the rhythm before you play it... it would make this app just so much better. I'll also say that it doesn't ever show you how to count anything particularly difficult.
A new bug.
Has been working well until the latest update. Now the app just freezes after two or three errors and has to be restarted.
Handy rhythm exercises but a little pricey
I like the app. It’s a bit pricey for what it is but I think it’s a nice rhythm exercises tool. My issue with it is that it’s not so helpful in supporting you to improve. It would be really handy if it gave some tips on how to imagine the rhythm in your head. Having rhythmic solfeg would be much more useful than having a really jarring voice counting “1…2…3…4” when you make too many mistakes. It doesn’t make sense that counting the beats is the only “support” you get no matter how advanced the exercises you do are. I was recently stuck on syncopated triplets - my issue isn’t with identifying the crotchet beats.
