What people like
- Best tactics and puzzles available
- Really helps improve your game
- Puzzles come from real games
- Great selection of courses
What they complain about
- Crashes immediately on startup
- Too hard for total beginners
- Ads interrupt you constantly
- Support never actually helps
The best
This is probably the best tactics app out there. And I’ve tried a dozen or so. All the puzzles come from actual games, not computer generated, and there are dozens of different courses.
Not for beginners
Don’t buy if you are a beginner, poorly made, no real instruction, designed to cost you hundreds of dollars over time. Skip it.
Good tutorials
I like the tutorials . Only thing not giving a 5 stars, is when you drag the pieces sometimes the whole screen drags like it’s going to go back a tutorial level. It’s really annoying bug
Beginner
This app does not help a total beginner.
too hard
its appaling the matches even on the lowest level are impossible and for the training you have hardly any excersises unless you pay
Beginner Chess Tactics
Phenomenal Chess App, digitizing and making puzzles from the Blokh and Ivashchenko available at your fingertips!!
Please fix the sliding board
I llove this app and use it often but the board now slides to the right whenever I try to move a piece and sends me back to the root menu. Did anyone test this? Please fix!
chessking
it is way too good btw ikr so its good isaid
Bof
Confus , il doit falloir être déjà expert pour apprendre quelquechose avec cette appli
Cannot reset progress?
I like to use these apps from time to time, however I cannot find a way to reset a course. I completed half of ct art years ago and would like to restart fresh but can find no function to do so. This is a standard Chessable feature for example
Great App & Customer Support
This app has some of the best tactical courses and puzzles out there. Can definitely find something for any level. Plus, the customer support is amazing. I reported a bug in the app that was causing it to crash. They promptly responded and pushed an update within 24 hours.
I can’t even learn to play this app
I can’t learn to play chess cause I can’t figure out how to use it
❤️
I love learning chess on your app!
It’s me, not you
I’ve only just purchased this app a couple of days ago and I would say, for a person that’s only semi savvy on the computer, this app is not necessarily user friendly. I paid the $12.99 so I was surprised how busy the interface was and the use of the voice for the videos. It took me a few times to figure out where to even start. I say all this because I hope things can either be fixed or maybe, it’s just like the developers want it to be, in which case, I’ll move on to a more beginner friendly app. This app may be for the more advanced. That’s okay too. I did figure out how to slow down the computer voice so I could at least keep up with the info. My suggestion is that the interface should be broken down into digestible courses. As a beginner, I don’t even know the pieces or how they move. I don’t even want to discuss theory, as exciting as that sounds! Please take this review with the humility it was submitted. Thank you.
Entertaining
Fun and passes time
It does not explain anything
Gave it a go but it literally doesn’t explain anything. Not why any move is good or bad. And the computers play is fixed at way too good. Can only see this as useful if you are already an excellent chess player and know almost exactly what to do.
Excellent content and app
The app works great on my iPad, and I love the wealth of content for tactics, openings, and strategy. My only suggestion would be an option to turn off slow enemy animations, as they can feel tedious on longer puzzles. If this gets added, I’d be happy to update my review to 5 stars!

Hard to use
The user interface is harder than trying to learn chess
Real Chess Trainer
Have played Chess King for years. There are so many great versions of this game that allow you to practice opening moves, end games, and learn strategy and tactics. The few dollars spent are well worth it.
You can’t do anything unless you purchase
I am looking for no cost.
App is great. Support not so much.
Loved chess king until it stopped acknowledging my subscription when it updated feb 4th. Content that I was using is locked. I have contacted support twice in two days but have not received a response. What’s up? Ends up you must restore purchase the apple. App is great again.
The enemy moves are super slow
Even with piece animation on 4x speed the animations are very slow. This wastes a lot of time. There are also puzzles where winning moves are marked incorrect.
no basics
This is a great app with many training courses. The only three things I would like to change is to make those courses free, tell us how to do something before giving us the course, and add a basics course.
This is the best game in the world

As Soon as the Game Loads...
I have tried repeatedly to play the game, but it crashes as soon as you click on any of the options on the home screen. What's up with that? It says it works on the new iMacs (M1 chip), so why does it keep crashing? Deleting and hiding this game. I used to love playing the older version on my old iMac, so it totally stinks that it doesn't work on this one.
I like it
This app in addition to the website is amazing.. it’s provocative and challenging.. but, there’s plenty of room to improve it.. make it more flexible and user friendly.. upgrade the design it looks like from the 90’s the website needs lots of work also.. nevertheless I find myself visiting the app and the website more and more.. good luck and thank you

Yes
Good but
This is a good chess learning tool, however, I purchased a couple courses on my android device and have recently switched to iPhone. Meaning I am no longer able to access the courses I purchased. I have tried contacting customer support multiple times and have not received a response back. Beware if you purchase anything.
Probably one of the best trainers out there
I definitely see my game improving when I go through the courses. It's probably one of the best trainers out there currently. I'd say there's room for improvement on interface, presentation, and features, but still worth it if you're trying to up your game.

Проблемы с графикой
После обновления до iOS 13.2 в приложении «уплыли шрифты» и появилась проблема с темной темой Apple. Исправьте, до этого приложение было просто волшебным.
Been wanting to do this.
Fun and challenging.
Cannot try for free without signing up to pay them
They force you to sign up for a plan before you can even try it for free. Wasted my time.
Great with one issue
The app is great but sound cuts out too often. This needs fixing
Crashes on latest iOS
Been trying to buy full course but app crashes when going to the purchase screen. Guys get this fixed. Must be losing lot of sales!
Not functioning on two devices
Normally when you buy an app it functions both on your iphone and on your ipad. Not with chessking, disappointing!
Beautiful app!
Works well, syncs to your phone easily! There’s no excuse at not getting better at chess. This helps with tactics, strategy, endgames!
Google Ads
Displays Google Ads at the top of the app, which is very distracting for someone who is autistic. I’d like to buy the CT-ART 10 bundle on the Chess King Learn website, or alternatively several of the in app purchases, but before I do so I’d like confirmation this will remove the ads. I cannot find any reference to this on the store page, or on their websites (confusingly there are several domains with a vaguely 90s style). I have reached out to the developer via their contact email, but so far no response. Their teaching content may well be excellent, but so far their lack of any sales support doesn’t make me want to hand over any money.
Excellent teacher
I am not a good chess player. I started playing when I was around 11 years old. but never worked at improving periodically when I was at college, I also would play but again never practiced or did chess problems. I am now a senior citizen and have time to do lots and lots of chess problems on various apps. This app is the best for getting me to understand some fairly sophisticated combinations. as I get better, the problems get harder. I hardly recommend this app. I don’t know enough to recommend their online program.
Helpful review
Great selection
Oh dear
Was amazing but latest update has broken it completely. Does not work AT ALL with dark mode / iOS 13!
cool but there should be online chess
1. you shouldn't increase rating when doing puzzles; you should increase rating when you beat the computer 2. there should be online chess (playing chess live with actual people online) and that increases your rating too i have no hate; it's a great app, just needs a little improvement
