Lovely tool, but is lacking one of the most important things which is the pKa of the side chains. This would bring this app to the next level, many of my friends who also have it agree!
Protonation states incorrect
I started to use to help me prepare to teach sophomore Biochem majors and quickly realized the charge state shown in the structures are incorrect and in some cases impossible. The app missed the pKa factor. If we are assuming these amino acids are at pH=7 then the carboxylate groups will be negative and the amino groups are positive. Also on critically charged amino acids like Aspartic acid the side chain is fully protonated instead of carrying a formal negative charge. Kudos to my colleague, Dan, for pointing this out

Quick, Easy, Helpful
Learned one mnemonic off Tiktok and put it in practice using this app and learned all 20 aa in less than an hour.
Took up an insane & weird amount of energy and drained my battery
This app took up a crazy amount of energy from my computer. Either it has a bug or it’s sus. It took like 4000 energy impact, while my google chrome (with a ton of tabs open) was less than 200. Idk, I’d avoid.
Perfect for the MCAT

An important characteristic of amino acids is if they are hydrophobic/hydrophilic. It would be great if this was included as well. Important characteristic in most biochemistry classes and for MCAT studying.

L’app est génial mais…
En effet, l’appli est en elle même génial, très synthétique et permet de bien situer ses compétences, néanmoins le terme semi-essentiel est peut être trop utilisé, dans de nombreux cas l’acide aminé étant non essentiel. De plus, bien que celui ci soit rare et peu impliqué dans l’organisme, il manque la sélénocystéine dans la liste, en effet il y a bien 21 acides aminés au total et non 20. Néanmoins, hormis ces quelques remarques, je recommande fortement l’appli.
Cysteine is incorrect
Cysteine is polar neutral but in the app it says it is non polar which is incorrect. I hope no one uses this and thinks it’s non polar
Great app but it could be better
They could add the positive and negative signs to the groups. They could also add the pka values of each of the molecules.

Plutôt agréable
L’appli est plutôt simple et intuitive d’utilisation, elle m’a personnellement bien aidé à apprendre les codes des Acides aminés Cependant elle pourrait recevoir quelques améliorations comme une formule demi développée ou bien un « menu » qui permettrait de voir tout les acides aminés. En conclusion c’est une petite application bien pratique qui fait le taff qu’on lui demande d’effectuer.

La cysteine n’est pas apolaire ! En tous cas pas selon les cours de biochimie... et malheureusement aucune possibilité de changer les cartes ou de rajouter des caractéristiques (leurs propriétés ou modification post transcription par exemple...), c’est dommage car elle est visuellement très plaisante !

Very good for memorizing amino acids. I only wish there was a mode in which you could be asked the structure of an amino acid (ex:tryptophan)and be shown 4 structures that all look like tryptophan, but only one that is correct.
Only one critic
I really wish there was an option to do fill in the blank. After a while the multiple choice format becomes way too easy and a option to put in answers as fill in the blank would not only make it more difficult but aid in studying

I’m a bit confused, there is a review below stating that Cysteine was incorrectly classified as Neutral Polar, and I can see that it has subsequently been changed to nonpolar. This however is incorrect, and cysteine is in fact Neutral Polar.

In general, this app rewarding when it comes to getting the questions correctly. I think it would’ve been nicer if the app had a feature to write the amino acids, but even without it, it deserves a 5 star rating.
Cystéine apolaire, vraiment?
Application tout simplement parfaite pour tout étudiant devant se coltiner ces acides aminés, néanmoins la cystéine est polaire non chargée, et pas apolaire comme dit dans l’application (erreur qui coûte 1 étoile) C’est le seul bémol que j’ai trouvé à cette appli qui m’est tout de même super utile
