Will miss the PG
Have subscribed for years. Never really had a problem with the app. Still like the physical paper in my hands but the pdf version is a great substitute. Plus you can access related articles from the highlighted portions of current paper. Also easy to forward articles via e mail or text. Overall very happy. Will miss the paper when they cease operations. Don’t watch the local news but now I may have to, to get local information.
Terrible app
Doesn’t work well on iPhone.
Good app
I like the app and the e-delivery option but I wish there was a setting to automatically delete old downloaded editions. If you download every day it’s a big effort to go back and delete old editions to keep them from using up too much storage space.
Can’t print puzzles
Now the puzzles will not print. Plus the paper doesn’t fit the width on the iPad.
Sporadic loading
I’ve been using the post gazette app since its inception. This newer version is still full of glitches. I’ve had trouble with it loading the current daily version many times especially the weekend edition. Otherwise when it loads the app provides gVery dood access to the paper.
Unhappy
I really liked the Newslide format. This change is frustrating. First and foremost it does not work with the individualized text size feature so that even with readers I have to pinch and move around the text block to see the article. Second the games are NOT interactive as stated in the description but rather printable. I will try it for about a week, see if it is easier to read on my iPad vs my phone, but strongly anticipate canceling my subscription. I will miss local coverage if I do
Changing email after Yahoo hack
Have tried for 3 days now to update my email with PPG. I want the 4 am email and other update emails thru the day. I like the PDF format in the am. There is NO PRINT VERSION AVAILABLE. It seems like a simple matter. Customer Service and others at PPG are nice - but apparently are unable to resolve the matter. My 2 local papers manage to provide print copies 6 days a week and easily accessed online editions - why can’t the PPG at least send me the daily emails?
About time
Finally allows portrait mode on ipad, only took 4years.
Regrets
The Post Gazette has deep regrets for having endorsed Donald Trump in 2016. This error helped this guy to destroy so much that was good in America and also lead to 110,000 covid deaths and 100s of thousands of more maimed by the virus and the destruction of the USA economy. The Post Gazette has power of an endorsement. And pledges to be more responsible in the future.
Difficult to read
Type face is difficult to read. Too light and too small. Column headlines are not fully visible. Also there is a lot of white space on the pages. Old version was much better. This version is painful to read.
Bug fix 5.4.9
I was forced to update the app but now the “fix” forces the app to a login screen that doesn’t work when clinking on the button to enter credentials. Everything was fine before this fix but now I cannot use the app.
Good for tablets
Not nearly enough content. But easily read for older eyes and glasses
No newsslide no me
I read the e newspaper on my iPhone using newsslide. Do you really expect me to read it without newsslide?
The app crashes almost weekly
Almost on a weekly basis, the paper will not load properly so the first page repeats itself, replacing the even or odd number pages. The app has to be deleted from my iPad, reinstalled and then go through the process of logging on.
Problem with new update 12 Nov 24
New version doesn’t display correctly on iPad. Cuts titles and text
New website during a strike
Seems weird u would launch a new site in the middle of a strike . Explain. Still read everyday & get home delivery 2 days a week . MER
App is slow
I love the content provided. Unfortunately, in today’s world this app is very slow. It takes too long to load. Then it freezes frequently. Eventually I move on to another source to read.
Doesn’t load
I updated to the new white PGe app a few weeks ago. It says “A new edition is available” and I tap on it (on my iPad). It comes up with a blank green screen that says “menu” at the bottom and I wait and wait. Still nothing. Then I go to the 3 bars at the top left to “sections.” Only the first section shows up of the 3. I tap on it. And the whole thing disappears, back to my page of icons. Very disappointing. Didn’t have as many glitches with the old app.
No internet connection
This new version is terrible. Most of the time it says no internet connection when trying to get today’s edition. Even after downloading, you can’t skip to a different section due to, again, no internet connection.
New white app good so far except …
The new white app I installed today works well so far. The only thing I miss from the previous black app version is the ability to click the word “Link” at the bottom, in order to toggle off the annoying blue, underlined linked headlines. I don’t use those links and prefer the headlines to appear as normal black text while reading.
Back to PDF
No portrait mode for some silly reason. Going back to previous page always takes you to the top of that page. The old app was better despite its flaws
Cartoons
What happened to the cartoons? I miss them! Get them back!
Terrible customer service!!
The 800 number doesn’t answer.
Puzzles
I like the app but can’t figure out why the puzzles don’t work anymore on my iPad.
Worse than facsimile edition
This “new and improved” version is definitely worse than the older facsimile edition which the Pgh P-G has recently stopped supporting. On my iPad, this version is extremely slow to load, freezes on pages unless one is continuously leafing through pages, and won’t resume where the reader left off but instead refreshes to return to the front page. An old fashioned paper was best, followed by a facsimile screen edition. This version fails at a distant third place.
Freezes constantly
App constantly crashes and feeezes on my iPhone 12
Slows down over time
The app is great for reading the paper. Unfortunately it slows down over time. Their solution is to delete the app and reinstall it. It seems like there should be a better way. I don’t have to do this with other apps. Today Monday Nov 13, 2023 the app is trying to open the edition for Tuesday November 14. That is tomorrows paper. It does not exist. It is stuck. I deleted it and reinstalled it and it is doing the same thing. This app would be great if it worked.
Good News Format but sometimes feezes
I like this news format and content. The display gets hung up sometimes and sometimes scrolling through articles it jumps back a few pages or doesn’t want to continue down in the article.
Why can’t I change horizontal vs. vertical display view?
The original app allowed you to display the traditional print version in a vertical view so you could quickly scan down the page, like a traditional newspaper. The new app forces you into a horizontal view and requires more scrolling and you see less of the page. Please allow the traditional view of the paper to render in the old style vertical view.
PGe
The old version was much better. The new version takes forever to download the paper. Never had a problem with the older version.
Just like having a traditional paper boy
Yeah like having an undependable paper boy. Works about half the time correctly. Sometimes it doesn’t clear the previous day’s version and others it doesn’t show the current day. Have to jump to their various platforms to get just a bit of news. I expect much better for something I pay so much for. You used to be credited when the paperboy did not deliver, not so with the crappy technology they use.
I hate the news slide
I hate the PG new slide, it is confusing to use and not like actual newspaper. You cannot even see the obituary page. I prefer I PG e-delivery app much like real paper, and the obituary page is also present.
App support
This app apparently can only be viewed in the landscape mode. Email to support and the post gazette have gone unanswered. The app that was replaced by this was 100 percent better. Bring that app back. This one stinks!
