- Family sharing makes the price fair
What they complain about
- YouTube ads still show up often
- Subscription costs extra for each device
- Breaks internet access on some apps
- Leaves blank spaces on web pages
Ad stopped working
After chatting with a representative I just needed to make a minor adjustment. Great app and customer support.
didn't work at all
didnt see any ads being blocked ok websites. i enabled everything i settings and rebooted. also doesnt block YouTube. suggesting that you turn off subscription renewal alerts is a really cute dark pattern...
Yes één die werkt
Doet wat hij moet doen zonder teveel belasting op je apparaat te geven. Oké soms is het lastig omdat je bepaalde pagina's niet kan openen door alle adware maar dat is hij ook juist voor. Top app 👍🏻
Apple TV disappointment
I tried this app to see if it would block ads in the YT app on ATV. I was unsuccessful. After reading some more on their website, I'm still not sure it was designed to do that. I would appreciate a little more clarity from the developer. I don't need it for any of my other devices so I can't speak to how it works there. YMMV.
Impressive… maybe
I love that Magic Lasso is available on Apple TV. It claims to be blocking hundreds of connections every night, but there’s no way to see what was blocked. Seems suspect that more traffic is blocked overnight than when actually using Apple TV…
When are the best I used?
It’s the best just know you have to pay your subscription
Didn’t work
Doesn’t do anything except change audio to a foreign language.
Still get ads on YouTube
Still get ads on YouTube…. WTF
hard to set up
after I signed up for the free trial, I followed all instructions. But I got stuck when it said to go to the Safari app and and chose Aa, chose Magic Lasso Pro, There were tons of choices. the only trouble was, I could not find Magic Lasso pro. I tried and tried and tried and now I'm getting so tired. I just have to quit.
Works well for the most part
The NYT’s is pretty good at getting around ad blockers. This is no exception
Doesn’t work.
An ad blocker that doesn’t block ads. Useless.
Messes with iOS and my wifi. Useless in NY Times app.
Have lost my text messaging and wifi using this app. Also consistently fails to block ads NY TIMES APP, even using custom settings. Price very high for what it does.
Still getting popups
I’m still getting popups, banners, and auto start videos on news sites. No better than other ad blockers
Great devs
App works great, no ads on any devices, devs quickly fix bugs when websites don’t work
Subscription Constantly Breaks
Every time I update this app it refuses to restore my existing subscription. I’m sick of having to contact support to re-activate something I’ve already paid for.
Broken pages
Been getting a lot more “there was a problem loading the page” recently that then forces me to disable ad blocking for the page to load correctly. There needs to be a way to report a broken website.
YouTube ad blocking not as reliable as vinegar
Vinegar has better ad blocking on mobile and supports Picture in Picture on desktop; both of which magic lasso fails to do reliably. Ad blocking isn’t as good as ad block pro. I used magic lasso for a year after Gruber’s recommendation and it was awesome, but it has become increasingly less awesome since the transition to a paid product. I won’t be renewing my subscription.
Excellent app, top-notch support
I’ve been using Magic Lasso for several years, and it just keeps getting better. The latest feature that allows blocking of ads in all apps, like Apple News and the Stocks app is icing on the cake. Support has always been responsive as well, and they do a great job of following up to make sure that your problem has been addressed.
So I am confused
Not only is this Not blocking any ad’s on YT, and yes I am going through Safari. But the ads r loading So bloody slow I can’t even continue watching videos. It just taking Way too much time. Am I missing something?
Broke Banking App
Can’t accommodate banking apps having connection issues.
Not working with polish sites.
I forgot to cancel trial subscription so this app will be with me for a one year. Useless for me because not blocking ads on polish websites. English sites blocking well
Great app, even better support
These developers are awesome! The product is terrific, and their support team is top notch. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Messes up your iMessage
This app was great until I noticed iMessage stopped working on my phone as well as my wife’s phone. Several days with customer service of finally figuring out this app with the VPN blocked any iMessage from coming in. It’s since been deleted from our phones.
Charged me instantly on the free week trial?
It’s not great, I wanted to try it out but it charged me instead, it doesn’t block YouTube ads and doesn’t completely block ads on games. A refund is what I rather have
Good app
I’ve been using this app for awhile now & find it blocks most ads. What I would like to see is the ability to block ads on YouTube. If you can do this I’ll up my stars.
A good one
This is a good one. When my annual renewal didn’t work, I got prompt and effective support via email with the developer. A keeper.
Doesn’t work for Apple TV
Doesn’t work for Apple TV
YouTube blocking partially works
Unfortunately still getting a lot of YouTube ads at the start of videos. YouTube blocking is enabled, no other extensions are installed, checked all other points in the instructions. It does block some video ads, though.
Tried it but went back to 1Blocker
Have used free version of 1Blocker for ages but tried this via a dating fireball link. Seems to remove ads OK but leaves blank frames on the page which seems weird. Sometimes still with the little x in the corner to manually close. 1Blocker does not seem to have this issue so uninstalled and went back to 1Blocker
Super!
I’ve been using Magic Lasso’s Ad blocker for a while and it certainly does a fine job of blocking ads. Highly recommended!!!
Still so many issues
I am constantly having to delete this app, and then try to reinstall it because at least once a week, usually more often, I wake up to it, blocking Internet access to almost every single one of my apps. The only fix is deleting it and reinstalling it. Unfortunately this is becoming a major issue and inconvenience, especially while traveling.
Not bad
Useful application but not good enough for me to signup any subscription as developer required
Well Worth The Price
After finding and using Magic Lasso through Safari browser on my iPhone 14, I can write that I have been very happy with this ad blocker. It will be renewing on September 29, 2024. Well worth it as it completely blocks commercials on YouTube and YouTube live. It also blocks ads on some websites like Weather Underground and MSNBC.com.
Doesn’t work
I cook and like to follow along to YouTube videos the ads pop up at the worst time. I do not use the YouTube app I use safari. This does 0 ad blocking on YouTube. Don’t waste your money. I have noticed ads blocked on regular pages. If you specifically are looking for YouTube it doesn’t work. I googled to see if I was missing something. All google searches return how great this is. Developer is a master at SEO.
Not recommended for now
The subscription model alone is deceptive: subscribe on the Mac and you don’t get the subscription on iOS and vice versa. They added the information on the website eventually, but I felt cheated on this part. Also, the only time my iPhone got warm, drained its battery and ended up crashing was when I used this app. Switched to Ka-block and no problem so far. Checking regularly if Magic Lasso updates the app and/or the subscription model, but after a full month: nothing. Very disappointing.
Nothing is perfect, but this gets very close
A very effective Safari extension that blocks most all ads & trackers without any user input? Yep. Ability to make your own blocking rules as you go? Yep. Tap to block unwanted elements on any webpage? Yep. Several more features to list but you’ll figure them out. Suffice to say it’s still a little obtuse in some regards. You have to discover some of its features on your own. For instance if you’re trying to block YouTube ads it won’t always work. You’ll get YouTube’s terms of service warning page instead. Unless you pull to refresh the content you want to watch multiple times then it’ll load up without the ads. This little tip isn’t listed in the apps rules or on the developer website & probably for good reason (though I suppose I’ve let the cat out of the bag now myself if it was meant to be a hush hush pro-tip… Oops). It doesn’t always work due to YouTube’s constant battle trying to circumvent ad blockers. But when it does it’s magic just like the name implies. Seems a bit expensive at first but it includes family sharing for the price so it’s really a bargain in my view. Make it so the rules auto update without me having to open the app itself & it’s a 5 star rating.
Stopped working
This app was working great until a few days ago and now it doesn’t block any ads on the internet browser or in any of my apps
Zwei mal bezahlen
