Avoid weblink app
I just purchased a very expensive stereo, i like the brand, but i purchase this one because it says "iphone mirroring" very far from doing that, everything is tru this app, weblink, every time you open the app and try to do this fake mirroring it needs to calibrate, takes 2 minutes and always fail, almost impossible for daily use, and when you can calibrate, its too slow, there is no maps, its only a few apps compatible. Pioneer Stereo is good, app is terrible.

I can’t use cast on mine so I’m limited to what I can watch and it’s just YouTube

Completely useless — turns a expensive Pioneer stereo into a brick
I bought a Pioneer head unit specifically because it advertised smartphone integration via WebLink Host, but this software is an absolute nightmare to use. Constant disconnects and black screens: 90% of the time I plug my phone in, it gives me a "Disconnected – please connect to a compatible WebLink unit" error. The screen either goes pitch black or gets stuck on a loading loop. The only temporary fix is constantly unplugging the USB cable, force-closing the app, clearing the cache, or reinstalling the entire app. Severe lag and unresponsive controls: When it actually manages to establish a connection, the touch input latency is unworkable. Navigating YouTube or basic maps takes several seconds per tap. Extremely limited app support: Almost none of the apps you actually want while driving work properly. Waze and standard navigation apps constantly freeze, crash, or refuse to launch altogether. Battery drain and phone overheating: The host app consumes so many background resources that my phone runs piping hot and drains battery faster than the USB connection can charge it. Intrusive permissions: It forces you to re-grant invasive permissions repeatedly every single time you connect. Pioneer should be ashamed for advertising WebLink as a feature. Do not buy a WebLink-powered stereo expecting anything close to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto—it feels like an unfinished beta program from ten years ago. Save yourself the headache and spend the extra money on a unit with native Android Auto or Apple CarPlay support.

Improvement over previous versions
The app has improved a lot as compared to the old versions and it appears to be more stable than those. However it still needs to have more native apps and the first which most users would expect would be a navigation widget from Waze or any other navigation app rather than simply casting it through phone.

A little awkward
The interface is good if not very user friendly. Changing from one app to another is a bit fiddly and changing from fahrenheit to Celsius on the weather app is difficult i still have not done it. Music and maps together is limited to Waze ,

Good idea but doesn’t work well
Looks like a great idea but doesn’t work. The iPhone mirroring just errors and while YouTube does play on the pioneer screen the sound still comes through the phone so a bit pointless.

I was about to throw away my radio because it says no radio signal but when I found this app and works just fine
Needs a update yesterday
The app would be useful if it actually worked. I have a dmhw3000nex and I can’t do anything. The most I can do is use it for a YouTube short or a video on my camera roll if that decides to work. The YouTube itself is janky however even when you sign on to your account it doesn’t show your Home Screen. It only shows your subscriptions so you’re better off just typing it, which won’t matter cause it doesn’t work. Everything seems outdated and most of the features don’t work. I can’t even cast my phone to the radio. There aren’t any proper instructions on what to do if these features don’t work either. I’d hope a major update would fix this problem.

Need Google Maps for sure. Without which this app is a just a radio in my car. It shows the music in iTunes and not Apple music where all the music is being downloaded. Need that too. Potential to get 5 stars.

I have bought new Sony infotainment system for my new car this app for iOS was not working.But after contacting weblink host support team they worked on the issue and after a month this was fixed now my iPhone is able to connect Sony head unit and able to access through app.Thanks for supporting

Limited apps
I am using Sony ax1500 model and iPhone XR whenever i try to connect it spare my phone qnd doest allow me run the app behind phone and if I minimise the app weblink get disconnected. Secondly maps app wave is just useless as it doest even start suggest to add builtin app for google maps Third add few music app which is able to stream online music like Preinstalled YouTube app. Waiting to hear from you soon.

Absolutely pain
Second go around with this app due to a phone upgrade and can’t connect, even after all troubleshooting steps. Was always incredibly non-user friendly and never used it; wireless Apple CarPlay is enough and way better. All I want to do now is a firmware update and I can’t even do that. Garbage and disappointing!

I have an iPhone 11 running iOS 13.6.1. The apps on CarPlay work great but Weblink is slow, very very slow. Pl fix this as YouTube runs only via Weblink but it’s so irritating. Also there is huge lag in typing .

In my XR, the screen always stay on while using weblink with my sony xav-ax-8000.is there any workaround for this? Also need more apps to work with this setup other than youtube ,like netflix,prime etc
