Ads
Too many ads
Incredibly obnoxious ads
I tried the free version of this app, and have never deleted an app so fast in my life. Maybe this is great for poetry, but I’ll never know. The ads are blasting, garish video game and casino ads that you cannot get rid of. I even had to shut my phone off once because the ad would not let me proceed unless I downloaded their gambling app. What a shame.
Great app, but could use a few improvements
Great app, especially for being free, I just wish it had the following: - a ONE TIME payment option to get rid of ads. The ads it has are very intrusive. Please do not add a subscription option, I will not pay for it. But I would pay $10 or $15 dollars once - searching and sorting features - be able to search for authors or lines. sort by date written, or just different sorting options in general. Sort by authors birthdate, date written/published, length, type, prose vs verse, etc
Promoting game instead of poetry
Collection is excellent. Every time I open the app, it prompts me to purchase an ad free game. I would have been happier, had it been a paid app instead of prompting me to purchase gaming app.

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️Severe Recent Glitching Where Poems Vanish off App. Tried twice both shutting off the app and deleting and reinstalling and still stalls a lot and refuses to load all the poems that were given for some poets.

A potentially great app ruined by ads
As others have noted this app has far too many ads, which are really intrusive and which ruin any enjoyment which might otherwise have been obtained. I note, however, that people have been asking for the option to pay to remove ads for 6 years now, so this is not a developer that listens.
Good App for Poetry
Decent selection, but it could really use a search bar.
App needs improvement
Great to have so many poets included but there are a few very irritating features. First: the adds are impossible to tolerate. They are too frequent, last for a long time and often difficult to escape. There is no option to pay your way out! Second: poets are listed alphabetically based on first name, which is odd. Third: some iconic poems are not included. Fourth: no search facility. What a pity!
Search
Let me search the poems!!!
Lovely start to the day
Great poems and a stimulating way to start the day.
Advertising
I used to love this app, now all of a sudden every poet you select brings up a ad, and when you select a poem. Too much damn advertising, which has destroyed the app.
So many!
Great! There are so many poems here that are even difficult to find via google… but I wish there was a search function-for sure 5 stars then!
Old friend has gotten too hard to use
I used this app-or at least a close cousin-I suspect the same developer- years ago when I was just a tiny middle schooler. It’s simple interface and great selection opened my eyes as a kid to poetry in a way nothing else had. I poured over them, memorized a fair portion of favorites as well, and had an extensive starred list. (Even made a cringy middler school poetry-focused Instagram account. This app- the source of most my “content”.) Then for a long while, it wouldn’t open. Imagine my delight when I found, myself now an adult, my old friend re-emerged on the App Store. Unfortunately, the hyper-long ads for just a few clicks make the beauty of this app- casual scrolling and exploration- impossible. Unfortunate as I miss the curation of this selection. If developer had a one-time payment in return for no ads, even without search functionality, I’d happily pay it and return to using this app.
Great app. Poems need editing.
Simple app with a great list of poets to explore. I loved it, until I started to notice a pattern of grammar mistakes and wrong words that made the poems hard to read.
The old man
Has live ed his life
Elegant, simple, but unwittingly managed
I started using this app about a month or so ago. As a lover of poetry, I was drawn to the elegant and simple approach to accessing and reading poetry. The best part about this app? The Favorites’ feature. Having this feature in place allows one to savor and quickly call up their favorite poems, making it simple to read and experience them again and again. Since using the app, I have been curating favorite poems and revisiting them there. In my view, this app is one of a kind and is just lovely! However, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the mismanagement of user expectations I’ve most recently experienced. About a week or so ago, the app was given an update (the first in around two years time). Unfortunately, the update wiped out ALL of my favorite poems that I’d been saving. ALL OF THEM. I want to love this app, and I want to recommend it to other users. But honestly, failing to account for a feature like this during an update betrays a lack of UX (or at least a mismanagement of it). If this could be remedied, I would most certainly be using this app again. However at this point, I have deleted it and have no plans of using it in the future.
Good apps
Easy to understand
Seriously flawed
This is a brilliant and diverse collection, but the poets are not listed in alphabetical order. The major problem though is the advertisements. Constantly intrusive and hard to remove. I would gladly pay for an ad-free version please!
Poems
Excellent experience
Boring
Daily poem doesn’t change. Every day the same poem about some lump of coal. Bored now.
Best poem app on iOS
Probably one explicit drawback is the missing of Byron....
Great poems and set up but way too many add
Too many ads
Poetry is a beautiful thing
So too is good English poetry served on demand in the palm of your hand. This app does as advertised. It walks you into the world of wondrous English prose as imagined and written by some of the greats. How it is designed to use the push notification feature is nice. It is a nice app for the poetry lover, English and otherwise.
Stolen poetry ?
This ad heavy app has a great deal of poetry that is copyrighted and not in the public domain. Are the poets et:al being compensated for the use of these poems? The poems are poorly laid out without proper formatting and some aren’t “poems” at all. Not worth the time and exposure to intrusive ads some of which are video with all the data and battery power sucking attendant nonsense.
Needs work
Not sure about ownership of copyright on some newer poets. Needs looking into. Also needs search, poets arranged by last name, an alphabet slider to get to poets of choice, and poems within poet arranged so poems in a series are connected at least visually. Great selection though.
Love this app
I like the way it arrange the poem and i am excited about ‘poem of the day’ part i am enjoying
Ruined
A good selection of English poems totally ruined by highly intrusive ads. Give us the option to remove them please.
Where is Sylvia Plath?
I love this app! I use it everyday as a quick reference when I don’t have my poetry books with me. I wish Sylvia Plath poems were included. Otherwise, fabulous app!
Awesome
Just downloaded the app.Its awesome!! Thankyou for this,i was always searching for an app which can get me a lot of poems!
