What people like
- Perfect for busy parents and readers.
- Great way to tackle long classics.
- Very easy and user-friendly interface.
What they complain about
- Syncing between devices is broken.
- Notifications often fail to arrive.
- You cannot change reading length.
Great way to read!
I’ve read so many classics through this app!
I didn’t receive my new issue as promised
Your app promised me I would get a new issue at the time I set. So I set it for 9 am to get a new issue of Aesop’s Fables, and I never got it this morning. Instead, it said I had to wait another 24 hours. I don’t care if it only is two dollars to upgrade, I thought this feature was free. So I think I’ll just forget it and read somewhere else
Mostly great
My only real complaint is that you can’t configure the settings to change the length of the issues. 20 minutes per issue is too long if I’m reading several books at the same time.
Faulty Widget
The widget isn’t working. It’s just a blank rectangle. When I hold it down and select edit widget, it does nothing.
Hard to read missed issues
I like the app, but if I didn’t read an issue and I “save up” reading issues per say, it won’t let me read the ones I missed. It’s getting to where I can’t even read the ones from yesterday that I missed when I could before. That needs to be fixed.
Best app ever
Love it!
Great Concept
This is way too get through works that extremely large. Thanks very much!
Doesn't always work
Its a fine app but for whatever reason it doesn't always work for me on my 9th gen ipad. I tested the app out using Alice in Wonderland which was provided with the app. The first chapter or two was fine, I got the notification at the time I wanted each day (at 9pm) but then after that I either didn't get a notification and then missed a couple of chapters, or I got a notification and when I opened the app there is no new chapter. The only chapter is the one I read the night before which is marked read. There is an option to "read ahead" to the chapter I should have got, but nothing else, no new chapter. Its a shame because otherwise this seemed like a decent app, and a good way to read a book, chapter by chapter.
Excellent except
Excellent except that it doesn’t sync as I think it should, so even if I’ve read an instalment on one device it still shows it as outstanding on another, and e.g. pausing on one device doesn’t pause on the other. Also, after giving notifications correctly for around four weeks, it has now stopped showing a badge when a new episode is available. Quite disappointed as I felt this was a really useful app..
Fave reading app
Absolutely amazing app, everyone should have it! My favorite way to read books. I love that the developer is an individual, and I would encourage everyone to support him even by just writing a review.
Excellent motivation
I really enjoy waking up and having a bite sized piece of good literature to read each day. I also like that there is a meter to measure what kind of a streak I am on, which motivates me to keep it at 100 percent. There is a wide variety of books to choose from, and it helps me get through some of the more difficult reading, such as Dantes Inferno.
Review
Previously great app ruined by recent updates.
Yummy books
This app is like free candy for a kid, except the free candy is knowledge and the kid is nerds like me. This app is great and I love it
Fine
I have just tried the app for sometime, and reckon it is a quite good app. However, less functions should there be in the premium version. 🙂🙂🙂
Good idea, but buggy
I just started with this app and was well into a Philip K. Dick story, when it reset. It wants me to pick my first novel. Ahem... I already had. Well, I'm not starting all over again, nor am I going to bother with another one that will probably do the same thing. It doesn't sync to other devices either, so that certainly doesn't help any.
Love this app!
I have been a huge reader since I was very, very young. My favorites have always been the classics. This app introduced me to many, many, classics that I have never even heard of so it gave me the opportunity to explore different classics and new authors (new to me). Most classics are rather big books with over 500 pages. This app allows you to read just a little each day without getting overwhelmed by how many pages the books actually are and how many pages you have left to go to finish the book. I participate in reading challenges through Goodreads and one of the challenges is to read a book with over 500 pages. Having this app allows me to finish the challenge much easier!
Very nice reading app
I'm reading the fossil hunter book that was recently added. I've found a number of typos plus no pics are included even though they are mentioned and referred to.
Wonderful!
This app is a treasure trove of classic (and some more obscure) literature, each presented in bite-sized nibbles so that even the largest of works don’t seem so daunting.
Nice app, sync doesn't work correctly
Nice app, good to look at and a good selection of books as well. Worth paying for the premium version if you're a regular reader or would like to be. The sync doesn't work correctly right now. It gets the list of serials sync'd correctly but the individual chapters are not correct. I might have read some chapters on one device but they still show up as unread on other devices. I often switch between my iPhone and iPad and this is a source of annoyance.
A Peaceful Refuge
This app brings me along to examples of antique, wonderful craft in little tastes that make me crave more. Already I have been defaulting to Serial Reader instead of other things that feel more like a waste of time than literature.
Great concept
Great concept. After subscribe an book, it should go back to same category so I can continue to add more books in the same category, instead, I have to find category again and look for book, need change this.
Great concept and execution!
This app is awesome. Not only is the idea genius, but the execution is great. It’s so easy to set up and start reading, everything is on your schedule, and the reading experience is great. Such a good way to read all those books you meant to read forever ago!
Don't buy premium
Doesn't sync. Broken.
YES!
This app is excellent. As an avid reader, but now a new mother, it gives me achievable reading times that I feel I can conquer in the minimum time I get for myself!
Excellent App for commitment to reading classics
I just completed reading one American classics. I made a commitment to read daily. I like the App. I make time of 20 minutes to read. It is also good for relaxation in the morning coffee breaks. Like it. It would be good to have a dictionary & note making attached to the reading.
Love this app!
Very user-friendly interface. I’m amazed by how much reading I can get done using this format!
More Modern Titles
I understand the goal of this app is to make users more well read and familiar with classic texts. However, by adding in post 20th century novels, I think, this would aid the app's popularity undoubtably. Furthermore, it would encourage users to read more with a wider range of selection within the library.
