Glitchy App
Hi, I don’t normally write negative reviews but I want to say that the cruise itself has been a good and well managed experience. However, this is a review of the app itself. When inputting my birth date into the app for validation alongside the booking number it will show the error “Please enter the correct birthday” even if it is undeniably the correct birth date. Me and my family and friends are having a large reunion on the cruise and most of them had this exact error as well, around 7 out of 10 people. We also heard some other passengers experiencing this error. Me and many others would like to use this app, but unfortunately it seems to be a block that has made it difficult for many passengers. I’m mainly writing this review in hopes the developers will update it and it will hopefully be fixed in the future. I have an IPhone 17, and this appears to be an issue with others who have iPhones as well but it could also be effecting Android although I’m not sure, Thank you for your time and an overall pleasant experience on the cruise.
Good cruise but
Staff, food are excellent but cabin cramped, no fridge and power points not easy to reach.
Difficult to navigate app
The app is rather confusing and difficult to find info
Disappointed … but not in Ama
All the bus rides, itinerary changes, delays and border checks have been a major bummer but not Ama’s fault that water levels are exceptionally low. Cruise Manager, Bjorn, is inspiring to watch; delivering with swift response/action to passenger inquiries & needs. Everyone on board cares … excursions are dynamite … will sail with Ama again!!!

App is painfully bad
I’ve been jumping through hoops for 12 hours trying to get it to load excursions. Sent me down a rabbit hole of online checkin, then says it needs 12 hours to sync that info, and STILL won’t load excursions. This app is one of the clumsiest and most frustrating I’ve dealt with in a long time.
Can’t add future cruise credit
Unable to sign up for future cruise credit. Keep getting an error message

Details are important ….
More details are needed. It is way too general overall and I prefer it to have what we are seeing and not just going to this or that. I wanted restaurant recommendations when we were going to have a meal off ship and some places to shop.

Antonio has been so kind and helpful with everything we have had to do. His explanation and directions are gentle and kind. We feel so fortunate to have him helping us.

Was not able to see captain or any other managers. Hardly any place to sit. Was very disappointed

Sold out to the first people who got on the boat in 20 minutes. They said it always happens but they obviously do not care about fixing the problem.

Can’t set up an account
Installed the app and tried to set up an account so I could log in. App does not respond to tapping the “Create account” button. Useless...

My first cruise but not AMA’s.
Too many missteps on the part of staff. Misinformation on getting to the ship. Halloween decorations stored in our clothes closet. Had to call to get the boxes removed. There was a big storage box under my bed. I couldn’t put my suitcase there. Another call to have it removed. Asked for help to move the bed and plug in my Res Med sleep machine. It was done but I never turned on the machine to test it. I turned it on when I went to bed. It didn’t work. Got a different adapter this morning and it now works. I didn’t sleep a wink last night. I hope this is the last of these curve balls.

Room
The mattress is a too firm for my liking. L’Occitane happens to be my least favourite fragrance smell. The bedding seems to have this fragrance also. The reception process was smooth and the staff have been very hospitable and professional.
Enjoyment on steroids
Never had been on a cruise. It is a very pleasant experience to cruise with AMA, the crew is very accommodating and gracious, the ship is very comfortable although we did have to get used to how small rooms are. This is not a put down to AMA in particular, just a general observation of cruising on a ship that has to fit on a river. But you get used to it. The beds are very comfortable. Plan on putting on some weight, because there is a lot of food that is available all the time.
Great cruise
A great cruise with wonderful staff but I personally found the walking tours too difficult due to my own limitations.
Suggestion
Want to see inside of castles and churches not just walk around. Thank you

Exceeded Expectations
Our journey on the AMADouro has been exactly what I was wanting. A vacation where I saw all the points of interest, unpacked once, AMA arranged all excursions, transportation to them, and when lunch was provided, the setting was beautiful and the meals delicious. In the past, I have always planned our family vacations, but as I have gotten older, it seems to be getting more complicated and my heart just hasn’t been in it. I just want someone to take care of me and that is exactly how I felt. This has not just been a vacation. It has been an adventure and it is due to AMA’s expertise in planning. AMA’s staff could not have been more accommodating. Our flight left from Philadelphia and we had spent four days there before the cruise and then did the pre-cruise so we arrived at the ship with much laundry and I sent it laundry services and in 24 hours, all my clothes were fresh and folded. We are already trying to decide our next adventure with AMA.
