- Great design and clean interface
What they complain about
- Accuracy is often terrible or wrong
- Ads pop up and block the app
- It hides results behind paid subscriptions
- No history to save your past finds
Great app
The identification ability of this app was great even before the update.
Wrong every time
It hasn’t accurately identified a single mushroom that I’ve tried. And if you try to go deeper, you get all these ads popping up and then you can’t get back to the app
Great reference
For most searches it’s dead-on. However, nothing’s perfect, or maybe it’s my photos, but even when it’s a little off it’s still helpful enough to lead me to another reference for an accurate identification. Keeping it!

Mushroom Identificator
Very helpful
Not free
Passes itself as free but requires a subscription to use. I’m not interested in professional stuff. I just found a bunch of mushrooms once and want to know what they are.
Identifying mushrooms
Thanks I’m pretty sure this is a chanterelle but I need to do a spore test yet
Erster Pilz erkannt - leider keine Such-Historie
Komisch
Easy
Easy to use and identify
Disfunctional at best
Program just took me in circles. When it did actually bring up potential matches they were so far from the picture as to be totally useless.
Hen of the woods
Good I’d and simple to use
Ungenau
Sehr ungenaue Erkennung.
Awesome app
Although I have yet to be 100% sure of a mushroom I do appreciate the warnings on the app , I much rather be 100% sure than to be on the toilet having bowel movements and vomiting at the same time

A wonderful app if you’re looking to identify mushrooms in forests around your home! Bonus points for informing you of their dangers and calling you out if you plan to solely use it to eat said random mushrooms in the forest, lol :)
Doesn’t work
I am not sure why, but it didn’t work for me.
Good app
Would like it better if it told you it arable or not from the start at the top
Pas fiable
3 essais sur 3 espèces et 3 erreurs !!
Shroom filter
App is good enough to get your research started in the right direction. Can save you some time when going for positive mushroom identification.
Great app
Just wish questions were answered
Doesn’t Work
It hasn’t accurately identified a single species. I’ll take a picture of a mushroom that clearly has no gills and it tries telling me it’s a gilled mushroom.
REAALLY GOOD
I’m rating this four stars because it’s not that accurate but maybe it’s because some mushrooms look different from others but their the same species but I still LOOVE IT ITS SO GOOD I CONSIDER GETTING IT
Good app
Hello! I just wanted to leave some feedback regarding this identification app. I love how easy it is to identify mushrooms on this platform and it has really boosted my interest in this niche domain, however I believe that the "rating" system is ridiculous, there should be no "no" choice in the community identification section and ratings should not be able to reduce, much less exist in the first place. I often see people with low or negative ratings identify a mushroom properly, and people just choose "no" for their identification simply due to their low rating despite the fact they got it right. This is very frustrating because as soon as someone with a super high rating guesses it, even if it's wrong, people will choose "yes" again, simply due to their high rating. This simple mistake is causing a lot of false identifications and is an easy fix, pretty please, fix it. Thanks, One of many fun guys.
Mushroom ID App
This app is fun to have an idea of what mushrooms you’re looking at and helps kids get interested in fungi and the world around them.
Terrible
Uploaded two clear photos of a common mushroom and total fail on suggestions.
Reserving judgment
Having just downloaded this app I am reserving judgment on it’s ability to correctly identify mushrooms. From pictures I’ve taken, at least one of the expected identifications came up when searched. The only real draw back to the app is the lack of any real information on the identified shroom. Yes we can tell if it’s edible or not, and some lookalikes are mentioned, but nothing else. This is not a show stopper, just go to any mushroom site (like mushroomexpert.com) once you have an identification. Just should be all in the app, in my opinion.
Kinda Useless
I’m a total novice and thought it would be fun to learn a little about what’s growing in my yard. I got a sample, set it on a white napkin for contrast and submitted several pictures. The results that came back were massively different than what I found. Not even close! I kept digging and came up with something that was similar, so I clicked on it and after that, there was no way to back out to the results! The only way to look at other options was to start over. This app is as unhelpful as it is difficult to navigate.
Wonderful App!
This is an easy to use, fast, mostly accurate, fantastic "in the field" app to accompany your fungi identification books!!
Feels like a scam
Didn’t recognize the mushroom, said it would get better with time. So I clicked on the one I thought it was and it immediately took me to random ads. Deleted immediately.
Seems reliable
I have not used sufficiently. The interface could be improved. In my case although it suggested four Amanitas. None of the species was correct. The result could have improved by allowing more than two photos input and some more questions (?). Maybe there should be two options one could choose: beginner and more advanced.
Full of adverts
Deleted after 10 mins - fulls of ads of other applications.
Great app for identifying mushrooms
I’ve use this app to confirm my suspicions on identification several times and it’s highly accurate
Free with ads, but poor accuracy
6 of 8 misidentifications versus competitor's 7 of 8 correct id's using same pictures; not accurate enough for proper id, which makes app not useful in it's present state.
Needs an update
Seems to be accurate from my uneducated perspective, but the app doesn’t play nicely with the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro.
Don’t bother
The app just says it’s in beta stage and can’t identify accurately right now
Fast and easy
Free fast and easy
Useless
It doesn’t work. All I get is errors.
Beta
I am sure it has potential. It might be good if you could choose an I think it’s this and then confirm location of this. For example… I think one of my fungi may be a Russella based on the photo but it would be goodif I could say it was found growing wild near Breckinridge Colorado. That might eliminate some options.
Sadly not great
I took two pictures but the mushrooms were not identified. Will keep trying but the experience so far has not been great.
Indispensable
By far one of my favorite apps. Well designed, well above average accuracy. An exceptional app. It’s not about getting accurate results instantly, most fungi that’s impossible. It’s the design of this app that helps as part of a mycological toolbox.
Most functions don’t work
Every mushroom I tried to identify by taking a photo, the app warns that identifying is only in beta. Why was I charged for something that admits it doesn’t really work yet!! And the pop-up asking you to take a second photo doesn’t allow you to choose Yes, only the No button works. I put zero faith in this app.
Identification is pretty good!
Gives me a good direction to search in when finding new mushrooms. Wish it also included the common names in addition to scientific ones. Also wish it allowed me to copy and paste the scientific name so I could search on my web browser, but I can’t highlight the name in order to copy/paste it.
Doesn’t work, not even close.
The idea is there but it doesn’t work at all. The app is smooth, brilliant lay out, but it’s terrible at identifying fungi. I’ve tried ones that are easy to identify, such as tremates versicolour, perfectly clear photo and it’s no where close. The fungi on the list are no where near. This app could be brilliant with a little work, I can see a lot of work has gone into it but it’s not quite there. I’m hoping for an update as I think this could be a superb app if it was better at identifying mushrooms. It seems as though some aren’t even on the list.
