I have a vision disability and using an app like this would be great if it had dark mode to make it easier. Otherwise seems great!
Looks like Eato with Bugs
The bar code scanner is screwed up. Sometimes it works but every time (except the first time) it does not show the live image of the item you are scanning in the app, but a still photo of the last item you scanned. Eato is not perfect but it has a better scanner.
App is crashing
Needs to have a way to provide only write access to new photos and not see/read existing photos in gallery.

Don’t waste your money!!!
I hate that I wasted money on this app!! It doesn’t work. It can’t identify your food. I doesn’t let you change the food options. Say you make home made soup it gives you the calories of a can of soup and the sodium of a can! It says it has recipes it doesn’t have more than 5 vegan! Today I put I had a sandwich and it has in twice and will not remove it!! Don’t waste you money!
Cannot record workout?
It’s overall a good app, because it has the free counting calories and scanning functions. However, I would not purchase the premium subscription because I cannot log in my workouts. This app could be so much better if there was a free trial for the subscription, because I’m not sure that I will have access to all the functions even after payment.
Disappointing
The photo recognition only gets one ingredient like “eggs” in a dish of scrammbled eggs with many other visible ingredients. Entering other ingredients manually doesn’t work. The app thinks peppers and mushrooms have zero calories. Pretty bad experience overall.

Went Crazy
Started out great and I liked using it but for the last month whenever I enter a food and try to change the Number of Servings it inserts a crazy high number (like 3565 calories in a grilled shrimp). Never used to do that. I tried deleting and re-installing but it didn't help. This is the FREE version but if it doesn't work I sure don't want to PAY for a version! Oh well...
Doesn’t work properly - use Calorie Counter + instead
Both in terms of displaying on an iPad (annoying horizontal phone screen) and not accepting hand entered data in calorie field for an item.
App connected to my Apple Watch but not accurately measuring my burned calories
Hi developers, I really enjoy using this app because it’s simple and organized. Unfortunately there are some bugs. When the app suggests a foods calorie count, I’ll select it and than it will show a different calorie amount…. Furthermore, as mentioned above, my Apple Watch is connected to the app, yet the app isn’t accurately imputing my Apple Watch data. It’s only using the data from the phone itself, which is why it shows way fewer steps than the step tracker on my wrist. I have gone into my settings and the apps settings and everything is properly connected so it must be the app that isn’t tracking correctly. If you could fix this it would make me very happy. Thanks!

Why did you delete the Mediterranean diet???
I’ve been doing the Mediterranean diet on this app for a couple of months now. I absolutely love it and have had great reports from my doctor on my lab work. Now it’s just GONE! Please add it back! My entire kitchen is full of groceries for a diet you just deleted. My best friend literally just went out and bought all the groceries to start it and now she has no meal plan. Before this I would have given 5 stars even with the annoying “use the camera” (that never works) notification that I have to clear EVERY SINGLE TIME I open the app. The rest of it is just that good! Or it was.
Edit photo - calories not reflected
Once I edit a picture, it shows the new calories but does not get reflected in that day’s meal.
Loss of function after a year
I used to love using this app, but for a couple of months now it give crazy calorie counts for common food items (I.e. 43080 calories for 6 macadamia nuts! Not 6 cups, 6 individual nuts). Also, it stopped letting me select different options for portion sizes, even though those options are displayed. It’s as if they stopped supporting this app. Sadly I’ll have to find another calorie app.

Please add a list of ingredients automatically made for me to make all the meals for the week so I can make sure I have everything I need already without having to go through every meal manually
I don’t like
It’s hard to find the foods I want using the barcode feature . I find myself logging in the food manually all the time . Not happy with this app . The workout feature also doesn’t work properly .
Stopped working with photos
I loved this app till the last update. I can’t add food items that I scanned from a bar code to the photo. Also I can’t add photos that I took out side the app. I use to be able to do both.

Too difficult to add meals. Probably works better if all your meals come in a frozen box, but not very good if you eat a lot of homemade food. Wasted my money.
Barcodes
I like but why are the barcodes so hard to scan. Also need more foods in the search.
Frustrating to use
The packaged product and barcode scanning work fine, but the image recognition for plates of food especially things that are mixed is worthless. All other features are behind a paywall. Also there seems to be a bug where if you go back and edit the servings the math gets way out of wack and you end up with tens of thousands of calories!
Just Concerned
I know every single company that has many reviews will have some negative. I’m concerned about upgrading based on this developer’s reviews. I wonder if they still have ads if paying premium. If they are then I would not personally pay for subscription. Others will buy I’m sure but that’s a big risk. I hate ads with passion. Which is why I typically buy premium. I’m planning to research more before committing and to try out the camera feature which sounds pretty cool if it works! I’ll post new review if things go well.
Great Tool
In 3 months I’ve lost 20 pounds just getting the knowledge from this app of what I am consuming. Still eating thing I like and having a few drinks.
Want to cancel membership!
I want out! I have been trying for months to figure out how to cancel my membership to Calorie Mama. I want out! How do I accomplish this without taking the drastic measure of canceling my bank account. This app is a total rip off!
Easy to use
My complaint is that it has limited foods in search option. For instant there is no Boar’s Head meats or cheeses.
Weird math and poor customizability
For my 6’2” 150lb self the app was recommending 150g protein for 0.5lb/week of weight gain, pretty absurd numbers unless I had specified that I was lifting. Also, my maintenance calories were calculated to something around 2.6k which is almost 500 calories off the known formulas.

Love it! But one thing...
Love it! Particularly, the picture function. But one thing...when you search for food items it often comes up “no results found” which is very frustrating since other apps have great and easy to use nutrition and calorie catalogs. I always then have to resort to finding a barcode to get accurate calorie data or guessing the calorie count if there’s no barcode or matching dish in the catalog.
Clunky and limited
I have buyers remorse getting this subscription. Example: I put in banana to track food and it couldn’t simply give me a regular banana. The AI works just OK. It gets the meals wrong more often than not. I wish you could manually add exercise. The video workout don’t work. Literally, there seems to be some technical error. I’m four days in and I find this a very limited app. They don’t have a trial, so I’m stuck with a subscription for the rest of the year. Fortunately, it wasn’t that expensive, and now I know why.
Great looking app but.....
I have been using this app for a couple of days now. The app looks amazing! I really love the exercises and being able to log in many different activities. The recipes are great, but when taking the meal plan test, nothing happens. I don’t like that you can’t edit previous days because sometimes you can’t log everything right away. Major con is the variety of food selection is limited when logging in and limited bar codes are in the system. It would be a better app if the database larger.

Or if you are a senior or diabetic most health plans offer Apps that work with nutritional counseling. Whatever you do DO NOT BUY THE related AZUMIO so called SMART SCALE. From support links that require additional software downloads, if you even get thru to a “NEXT” that works & doesn’t crash to not including the Muscle Mass & Water monitoring that I purchased the unit for.

Not as good as it once was
When I used the app a couple of years ago, my input was synced between my iPhone and iPad. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to do that now. Also, it used to open to the page that you input calories, now it opens to the photo page. It used to be better at recognizing barcodes, doesn’t seem to work now.
Does not work
The diet test does not work. After answering the questions nothing happens. Can you please fix or remove. Other than that it’s a cool app that I am paying for.

There is absolutely no place to unsubscribe from this app once you have subscribed to it. The cost of this is absolutely ridiculous.
Great app, but some things missing
I’ve used CM now for the past 75 days, and have lost almost 12 lbs. It’s easy to use and has a reasonably good database of foods. Barcode scanner is the best feature IMO. Some feedback / areas for improvement: - The meal / recipe add is confusing. I’ve finally figured it out but wasn’t easy at the start. Quick add should allow you to specify the information around portions, etc, that allow you to scale off the portion for the overall nutrition. It doesn’t. It also doesn’t support full nutrition input. - The AI feature is frankly hit or miss in terms of accuracy. I’ve been amazed from time to time, like when I took a picture of a plate of sashimi and it figured out what I had. But usually, it’s just wrong. Luckily the search feature helps you out. - There are some really powerful features like the “builder” items that come up for things like burritos or salads. But you don’t appear to be able to search for these, or at least I haven’t figured it out. The builders also need more options, and it would be nice to create your own “builder” option. If you can’t do this, at least add one for power bowl building. - Scrub your database. You need to look at the HUGE variability around something as simple as “grilled chicken” (just an example), which makes it necessary for me to reach out to Google search for calorie information more than I’d care to. You also should provide a way to allow a crowdsource way for users to input nutrition info, esp. for restaurants. Almost every restaurant has a PDF file that has nutrition info for its restaurant. Allow a way for a user to input this! Instead, you have to spend 5 mins googling, then tediously inputting into the cumbersome menu or quick add capabilities. - Overall, I think Azumio should focus on (1) the usability of its app, making it as fast and easy as possible to input food items not found, and (2) the accuracy and consistency of its database. I’ll keep using this app, but if I find something that addresses these issues better, I will switch.

Smart concept. The image recognition does work. But.... If always shows "zero" for poly- and mono- unsaturated fats. UNACCEPTABLY BAD SUPPORT: No help available by phone. Suggestions by email are general ("delete app", "take screen shots") with comments showing clearly that the emailed complaint was not even read ! Lack of consideration for the user !
