Review
Too complicated to plan a trip with multi destinations. Can not select the track we want to drive on,… not possible to delete a track selected by mistake,…
Confusing purchase options.
Heads up new purchase people. I found all the various purchase options a bit confusing. I just I assumed $60 to buy the initial app included one time, off-line maps. (I can live without multiple updates each year, it’s not like the hills and valleys will change much) Only to discover it didn’t. It will only work when on online. I now have to pay even more for off-line maps and again, there’s multiple options and sadly, many/most of them subscription. When on a pension I’m always looking for single, one off purchase. I will need to wait till next fortnight to spend another $60 to $100 and does this mean I will have two subscription fees, the app and the maps. Makes this app quite expensive.

Review
The whole turn by turn navigation to get to a destination is just clunky and rather not intuitive - I don’t understand why it can be developed to be like google maps - in the end I use google maps then only use tis app to see the off road tracks.
Expensive but good
Good product, but the $ add up. Definitely worth it for someone constantly travelling, but not for the occasional user. I’m out

After spending money on two separate H_ma maps, Dirt M_p and a few others, I came across ExploreOZ from AllOfOffroad channel on YouTube. When I realised how information rich ExploreOZ is and not unnecessarily feature rich, I thought I had found a good app. And it is! The shared notes, photos, track information is just amazing. The app is way “lighter” than H_ma, less cumbersome and tracks do not disappear straight away when you zoom out. I also bought the offline map thinking: “Great, I bought a map, pay for the app and the map spent about $100 thinking I now OWN a map. How wrong I was. I realised later I basically bought just another subscription because the offline map is NOT mine regardless of the big initial bucks. The map is accessible only for 4 years! Then I have to buy the “license” again. It’s kinda like you buy a book from the bookstore but 4 years later to have to go back and pay again because you can’t access your book. How ridiculous! It should be called subscription. Very disappointed. I will now go back to Memory Maps where I do own what I once paid for. The mapping feature is much better and there’s absolutely no dodgy details about offline map that is a subscription for 4 years only. Nobody wants subscription. Once I pay for a map, I want to own it. Just like you buy a paper map. Because no updates for 4 years either. Cheaters!
Great mapping
We have been using ExplorOz mapping system for a lot of years now travelling all over Australia and found an absolutely excellent constantly being improved all the time
Does the job - but
Purchased eotopo offline maps in May 2022. Map version purchased was de-supported by the app in Jan 2025. Very (very) disappointing given the cost…and a waste of money in hindsight.
Just Me
Pretty Good …….But This app needs CarPlay to remain competitive and relevant. I’m tired of squinting at my phone. Otherwise pretty good.
Excellent mapping software
Started remote travelling many years ago and bought all of the early Hema HN1 units up to the HN7. Always hoping that they would release a product that finally just worked correctly. When the HN7 was no better I got the chits and done a massive amount of research to see what I could change to. My research indicated that ExplorOz Traveller was highly rated. I gave it a crack and have never looked back. How good is it? Completed the Canning Stock Route in 2019 with two other mates(3OC). My mates used the latest Hema versions (it’s hard trying to covert people) and I used ExplorOz Traveller on my phone and iPad. I was 100% on the track 100% of the time, my mates GPS units had them up to 30 & 50Km away on numerous occasions. It actually caused quite a bit of discussion earlier in the trip. An example of just how different the apps are was finding the Tropic of Capricorn on the CSR. They both stopped a couple of Ks prior to find it. I stopped within 20m of it, opened a beer, pulled up a chair and waited. In regards to support, David & Michelle are fantastic. In fact they are real people and not just some chat bot, yep I’m not kidding, real people that actually know there product back to front. Do your self a favour, just buy it. You won’t regret it. Have been using ExplorOz for a number of years now in the VHC and FNQ found them to be user friendly and accurate. Tried Hema and found them not user friendly and a waste of money since they sold out to a corporation. ExplorOz has a great back of house support in dealing with issues, requests for help are always responded to quickly and directly by an technical support person here in Australia.
Rip off
The app is useless, you have yo pay for everything, when you do its useless. Waste of over $100 dollars, look elsewhere. Theres a way better Oz app than this one which works flawless.

Great app for planning and travel. I have used the app extensively during my trips throughout Australia but equally important is the customer service provided by David and Michelle. They deserve a medal for the respectful and helpful service they provide to their subscribers. They can definitely give the multinationals a lesson in Customer Service, especially the banks and insurance companies. Well done.
Need the extensive user manual
Not particularly intuitive for new users, so reading the manual really is imperative. I initially chose this as I didn’t want to be locked in to a monthly subscription but I was also hoping for a vast track library with difficulty ratings from other people including time of year difficulty conditions ie dry or wet. That was disappointingly lacking as there either just isn’t a big enough community for this app or users were saving them as private tracks. The developers are now rectifying this by searching saved tracks and making public where appropriate. There still don’t appear to be that many users tracks near me and I really need to spend the time to sit down and watch the YouTube support videos as it is just a struggle to use compared to much more intuitive apps like Google.
The best maps for exploring
I have used ExplorOz maps for 10 years now and find them the best of all mapping Apps, especially if you want to explore our wide open land. We have done all the desert remote tracks and found the ExplorOz maps gave more accurate information than any other. Their tracker App is also great to use and allows your loved one to follow your journeys. Highly recommend.
Stop Update Prompts!
Seriously, yeh the maps are good, but hope to god that the app does not receive an update while you are out 4x4ing in a remote location with intermittent and slow data! Why do you need to prompt me every time my darn phone gets the slightest wiff of reception to update, forcing me to stop driving to close the prompt, because I dont have enough reception to download it. I can spend months on the road and some times it will happen more than 20 times in a day. Who cares if there is an update, ill do it in the app store when I want to, before a trip, not reminding me constantly!!! Please remove the update prompt function from the app!
Great support and service
After a minor hiccup not receiving the verification email, Michelle was super helpful to resolve. Quick responses and a work around solution solved the issue. Helpful user guides on hand too. I’ve not had much chance to tap int the full features yet but I’m keen to drop my Hema app with the upgrade to exporoz app.

Poor App, Great Map
I’ve been using this app on all 3 platforms for some time now. I originally purchased for a Kimberley trip and added the PC version after the web app had features removed. I’m now looking at something else for my main navigation tool. This app is fine as a planning tool when in 4G or 5G mobile range or with wifi available, but outside of that it’s too unreliable. I have been caught out several times with the app needing a data purge and redownload to get functionality back which renders the app next to useless as a navigation tool and when living and travelling in the Pilbara it’s generally out of action for my entire trip. I do rate the EO Topo map but with it only being available on the Traveller app it will be used for planning only and unlikely to update going forwards. I’d really appreciate the developers making the map available on alternative navigation platforms.
Very Happy with the App
Still learning as this is all new to us, have been able to learn as we go quiet easy so far, had to make contact with Michelle to ask a few questions, found her to be very informative and friendly to talk to. All in all quiet happy, would recommend to anyone thinking about the App.
Good App
Got this app when then Gov. mapping shut down some years back. We were using Avenza but when we had to pay worked out this was much cheaper. Haven’t used any other apps as we’re quite happy with this one. It does what we need & we have been all though the Simpson, GRR CSR Binns GCR Lorella before it closed Surveyor General Corner & more

Fabulous features, easy to use, just love the ability to track and know exactly where I am.
Don’t buy
We watched multiple YouTube “reviews” before choosing this over other mapping apps. Big mistake as they are obviously sponsored reviews and not honest. This is buggy, hard to use and has regularly directed us to either closed trails or trails that are not even vehicle trails. There are free apps out there that are far superior which is disappointing as we wanted to support an Aussie developer. Please do not trust this app off road.
Map view
The EOTopo map view is the best map screen I have seen so far, much better than google maps. The Red roads contrast well against the off white and light green background making it much easier to see the roads compared to google’s grey roads or the Streets and Paths option available in this app. The snail trail is also easy to read.
Dont waste your money
We looked at this and a few others and choose this after watching some reviews. Obviously paid content as this is a total stinker and waste of money. The maps are outdated, inacurate and there is no easy way to tell what type of trail it is and once took us through a campground into a toilet block claining it was a through road. We have since found apps that are much more reliable and accuate that cost significantly less. Save your money and dont buy this app.

Waste of money
Just buy a paper map book,Doesn’t work properly once out of mobile range.had trip planned and saved in treks like I thought we had to but once we got to an area we thought it would be really helpful it was not .was useless on recent trip through the gulf and into NT,very disappointed,did not want to waste time trying to get support as we were in a remote area trying to figure out how far it might be to the next camp area for the night it should just work from beginning like I thought it would when I PAID good money for it!!!! I know it’s supposed to work offline and my iPad definitely has gps and wifi in it but the app kept playing up and as I said it was usless at the time so I won’t bother with it ever again.
