Changing lives
This app has been a God send! At first I was hesitant to continue to pay for the app but with anything in life, it takes time to see the fruit of your labor. So if you are looking for an app that will help you focus, this is the app for you.
Spam mail
I didn’t agree to a free trial of the app and deleted it before getting to explore options. Now I’m constantly hit with spam mail from Brain.com that won’t honor any unsubscribe requests.
Great app but missing a feature
Would be great if the quotes were shown on the lock screen on iPhone, whilst playing focus music
Crazy expensive
I enjoyed the app and will be willing to work to pay a small premium for it, but they are completely out of their skull thinking that they can charge $100 for this!
It’s just music.
I see nothing special about this app. It sounds just like every other lo-fi or easy listening or “focus music” on Spotify or YouTube easy to find.
My essentials.
My entire life, I’ve seen to struggle with deep focus on specific tasks. This app has been a great tool in sharpening my focus and setting timelines for tasks!
Ridiculously priced
Expensive and playing on people’s suffering to sell their wares. A created focus can be made for free on other streaming sites and you can pay to bin the adverts. They however don’t put a bow on it to say it helps you focus!
It delivers
The app delivers, but it can get a bit wonky with audio stability, especially at the highest neural effect level—you'll notice some turbulent buffeting and fluctuating pressure that makes the playback feel wobbly. Another thing: the app sometimes just stops and makes the song disappear from the iOS player and forces you to restart it from within the app.
Not worth the cost
I have ADHD and often listen to some more music on YouTube while working or trying to focus. I was really excited to try this app thinking it would be easier on my phone. I’m not sure why but none of the available music options here help me focus. In fact I find them extremely distracting. There are tons of free options on YouTube that are much better. I paid for a one-year subscription, but will not renew since I never used this app.
Helpful but app needs refinement
The two things that keep me at a 3-star review are: Not being able to exclude all tracks with a specific meta data tag. I’ve discovered songs with “textural soundscape” tag are like nails on a chalkboard to me. There should be a way for me to exclude these tagged songs “categorically” instead of one by one. Requiring a $70 subscription. I understand there was research put in and effort to develop the app. It’s right at my tipping point for signing up in the first place. What’s kept me here are the nights I can’t sleep. I put on deep sleep and I’m out cold. I do find the music used in the app to be genuinely helpful. If you need help focusing on work, or have trouble sleeping, this has helped me with both of these.
Great
This app definitely helps me maintain focus. It honestly might just be a placebo (I know there’s “science” behind it but idk), but regardless it works well for me. It always has; I used to look for those YouTube videos with various frequencies. The app itself is well designed and I use it frequently for both productivity and sleep. Try the free trial at the very least to see.

I have paid 99$ for one year. And NOTHING. Your app still proposing to me to buy subscription again 😡

I’ve dealt with playback issues like sudden stopping or switching songs. The effect is great though and I hope an update takes care of it soon. 🙂
Forced to pay a year
I bought a month for a promotion for a dollar, they never told me my renewal was coming and I was charged for the yearly subscription. I started to contact them the same day I was charged, they never replied back even after I sent many email days after the first one… the app is great, customer service wise, don’t expect much.
Bring back workout mode!!! Please!!!
I love this app, and have been a long time subscriber. But im extremely disappointed that the developers decided to remove workout mode! It was helping me with my cardio workouts tremendously.. and I can’t perform the same without it. Random music on Spotify doesn’t cut it. Please bring it back!

No trial without subscription
This app does not allow you to try it out without subscribing. Many people prefer not to subscribe before testing it first. Consider offering a one- or two-day trial period before requiring a commitment, especially since sometimes we might forget to cancel if we don’t find the service useful.
Works but gets playback error
I would say this app is a net positive but I probably won’t pay for another subscription when it runs out. My favorite song “Delicate Drops” keeps giving me a playback error - I assume because it’s no longer available but still shows up in my library. The app will sometimes just stop playing or give me a random playback error. This disruption always seems to happen when I’m in the zone - which negates the purpose of the app. Unfortunate because when it works it does work well.

Your sign in issue made me delete this app off my phone. Other than that, great.
I Really Wanted to Like It…
Interesting backend science, weak frontend empathy” is probably the best short description of Brain.fm. The neuroscience and audio engineering are genuinely compelling, and the music may help with focus during repetitive work. But the user experience feels underdeveloped. Features like “brightness,” “complexity,” and “neural effect” sound promising, yet the app offers little ability to search, organize, or meaningfully customize around them. Instead of encouraging exploration and experimentation, the experience feels limited, restrictive and overly dependent on trusting the algorithm. I like the concept… not the very simple and limited user experience.
A Game Changer for Studying
I honestly didn’t expect Brain.fm to make such a big difference for me. I usually study at night, and I would often find myself falling asleep while reading or studying. Since I started using Brain.fm, that hasn’t been an issue anymore. I don’t know exactly how the science behind it works, but somehow it really helps me stay focused and engage. As a musician, I also really appreciate the music the music selection and how thoughtfully the sounds are designed. For me, it has become one of those tools I didn’t know I needed it until I try it. Definitely worth giving it a shot if you struggle with focus or staying awake while studying!

The paywalls
I absolutely love this app. It’s really useful. The only problem is that they just charge you for every single thing like no need to be so greedy. Maybe if you weren’t then people wanna buy your app more.
Constantly stops
I’ve contacted Brsin FM numerous times, as the app keeps stopping mid way and I’m constantly having to go back in and play which is interrupting my enjoyment of the app. It’s ridiculous that they can’t seem to fix this problem.

Fantastic App so far
As someone with ADHD, I've always needed music to focus. I've spent over a decade defaulting to rap, hip-hop, and EDM because they're what I liked, not what my brain needed. These genres keep my nervous system elevated. I thought I was focused (sorry, I meant to say I thought that was focus). Brain.FM changed that two weeks in, and I'm using it to wind down before bed, calm down after the gym, and read effortlessly without distraction for the first time in my entire life. I have a tool designed for what I actually need instead of what just overstimulates me. This is an app I didn't know I was missing. Thank you. Only suggestion I would add to make this a 5 star would be to add some sort of community driven factor for neurodivergent fellows who want to collaborate together or to have some sort of other resources to help them with their struggles (ie, studying methods, at-home organization structuring, focus strategies)
Gave me more frustration
Had very high hopes for this app after reading online reviews etc (guess there's a lesson to be learned there) Personally I found the app fiddly to navigate. Once I kept getting the 'subscribe' notification the app just closed down each time I tapped it. In the end I gave up. Don't have time to annoy myself by attempting to resolve the issue. Moved on
Great choice of sounds, substandard user interface
Good quality audio throughout, although sound levels are way too high with earphones in the sleep section. UI is not great. Doesn't run smoothly and effortlessly like so many apps. Tapping away to select Apply, unnecessary downloading pop ups stops you moving on and Guided Sleep with no guidance if you skip the first track. Lots of potential let down with a bad UI when you need it to work well there most - when you're tired, stressed, want sleep.
This app is awesome !
The UI is absolutely gorgeous—huge shoutout to the devs, you really outdid yourselves! And the focus music/audio? I’m left completely speechless. It works so well.
This isn’t for everyone
I wanted so badly for this to help me with my ADHD. I was especially hopeful about the motivation sounds to try to help me get out of those moments of task paralysis. I tried “Motivation”, “Deep Work”, “Creativity”, “Light Work” - they all heightened my anxiety. The only one I tried that seemed bearable was “Learning”. So, if your ADHD comes with significant anxiety, this may not be for you.
UI broken
The latest update borked the app. The UI becomes unresponsive as soon as you go into the sleep section.
You want paying monthly?😂
Gave this a go, kinda what I expected. Mildly effective, no better than similar available for free on other apps and YouTube. I’d likely have paid one off for this if the price was reasonable (under £20), but not being an easily beguiled youngster I can see that paying a monthly subscription for something this basic is equal to robbery 🤷♂️ wake up folks some things are just not a monthly subscription they just want you to have to keep paying for basically nothing.
needs a TV app + volume level issue between tracks
so can use my mobile speaker for other uses & not waste battery on just brain.fm when home. also, blew my ear out switching to another track & then too soft when going to another track so need volume stabilization.
Wonderful to match the task
When I want background music (with no lyrics) that will enhance the atmosphere of what I’m doing, from focused work to light tasks to a gathering of friends. This goes beyond mere binaural beats to actually provide real music developed by both scientists and artists

This app is amazing. I have a hard time studying this helped me so much. However this app could be 10 times better if it was free. Overall this is amazing !!!
Absolutely useless
I can’t see a purpose of this app seriously it’s some random songs that are just weird, I just clicked relax and it instantly gave me some music without any context so no asking what I like just straight away assuming that relaxing must be this songs then.

Tried to access app support to ask a question but I get rerouted to the sign up page. I want to know if there is a family subscription. Also the add says 50 percent off Black Friday Deal but the sign up system 40?

Didn’t work at all.
Very disappointed 😔 I expected results and all it did was make me anxious 😬 just plays random sounds based on what you pick for your music at certain BPM levels. I tired over 50 different tracks and none boasted results. Just another subscription and false clams like always, just cause you have evidence of it working on 1 or 2 people doesn’t mean it works with everyone, likely won’t work with most people.
Good app, great customer service
The app is nicely thought through, has some excellent music which really does seem to have positive mental benefits. Even better though is the great customer service: when I had trouble with my login, the agent responded quickly to my emails, troubleshooting solutions, and escalating it to engineering team to get things sorted. Top stuff!
Frustrating app
Very problematic app and it doesn’t even open anymore :( Unacceptable for the price so I don’t recommend paying for it until they fix it
generally pretty good
this app is honestly mostly as described! if you don’t wanna spend time looking for playlists that will help you focus this is perfect for you! i only gave it 3 stars however for a couple of reasons: 1. they don’t allow you to set custom times, for example if i know i have exactly 45 minutes before i need to start getting ready for something, then i have to either settle for 30 or an hour there is no option to customize. 2. the price is steep for what it is, and the reality is (at least for myself, as someone with ADHD) it doesn’t do a whole lot more than a good lofi playlist. the main pull is the “neural effect” which admittedly is very nice! (it’s essentially modulating of sounds within the song at different speeds from ear to ear) but that just doesn’t feel enough to give me the value i need at the price point they’re asking for. 3. i was only able to find one study about the benefits of the modulation (neural effect) and it only specified that it benefitted people with ADHD, which generally i assume a lot of people using this app will not have ADHD. which to me kind of defeats the purpose of an all encompassing focus/relaxation app if the focus part is designated to a very specific aspect of neurodiversity. this (in my opinion) also harms the “backed by science” claim they make, since a majority of the studies they link to are sponsored/paid for by them. which again, possibly causes conflict of interest. i think this app has some benefits and could be useful for people who don’t care to search for a good lofi playlist on spotify, but for most people this app is over glorified and not worth the money. for the same amount you could get access to spotify’s countless hours of user generated playlists, & even create your own playlists. the only thing you’ll miss out on is the modulation, which again, only seems to benefit a small group of listeners.
I have ADHD. Worth every penny
This app is kind of expensive, but I found it is extremely effective. I noticed when I play one of the motivation pieces, I get really sharp and focused right away. And then I can stay there in the zone for a long, long time. It’s the next best thing to hyper focus I haven’t tried the music for insomnia or anxiety yet. However, I did find the relax and wind down music quite good after a long day of focus on work.

This app is ridiculously priced for Ai generated music. Reduce prices by 75% or make it free.
Very good
Overall, brain fm has helped me to focus on my work and study without getting easily distracted. I can study for up to 2 hours straight while using it, whereas before I could only focus for maybe 15 minutes at a time. However, I would like to see the duration of the audios somewhere in the future.
App won’t open
Whenever I go to open the app it just glitches and takes me back to my Home Screen. My phone is up to date and I’ve restarted my phone multiple times - still can’t open the app!
Notifications? Infinity?
Notifications?! Please stop asking me to enable them every time I start the app! I am trying to be more focused and not more distracted. Putting Infinity play doesn’t work well when locking screen. It seems like it only buffer 15min of the track and after that 15 minutes sometimes it stops, switches track or there is a gap sound as it transitions to the same song.
