The tours are fine but this app is horrendous. Resets whenever you exit app, doesn’t update your location as you move, no great value added. We used this app a year ago and it’s as bad now as it was then
Give it a chance
I was a little suspect at first, but after speaking with one of the ticket attendants on the bus, used the app to purchase my tickets with a discount. I got a confirmation straight away with my tickets. Only downside is that your tickets can’t be store in the app, so we had to get out the paper QR codes receipt every time we embarked. The app itself was brilliant in Barcelona. It told us exactly where the busses were so we could see when the next one was due to arrive (granted on occasion I had to exit the app and reload it (I’m on iPhone 16pro - for anyone questioning a tech issue). I’d like to see more from the app on the different stops, sharing links to the attraction to provide more information. I also felt that the stops were quite a way from some of the attractions, with it not giving any indication as to where the attraction was in relation to the stop.
Useless app
The app doesn’t show the times for the bus stops at each stop. It displays them as imminent all the time with estimates of 1-4 minutes even if it’s 40 minutes away. You need to check the schedules on the printed brochure you get on the first stop. The schedule on the web page (linked on the purchase confirmation) is from 3 years ago and is also not accurate. Also stop number 8 doesn’t appear on the app. This is for San Sebastian.
Works but could be improved
I was in Barcelona and had two options for a hop on hop off bus tour. The “official” one did not have any app vs this one did. I saw the reviews were nearly all one star! Thankfully everything worked out well. The app could be improved. It should remember which city you’ve selected every time you open the app. The “current location” should be more visible and there should be a button to manually refresh it (it often gets stuck). The route times and bus location was close enough and I didn’t have any issues with long waits on a Saturday. Audio on the bus was iffy. I had a better experience plugging in a Bluetooth dongle into the 3.5mm connection and using my AirPods. Too bad the audio can’t stream directly into this app. Overall I enjoyed my trip and this app helped my experience more than a paper map. If the app was updated with the fixes and new features I mentioned it would be even better!
Easy to use & Good onboard service
Easy to use, we received our online vouchers in less than 2 minutes, so it was a positive experience for us. This is our second time using a City Tour bus in Spain and we are highly satisfied, especially in Barcelona where a bus attendant kindly assisted us with our kids.
Don’t waste your money!
Impossible waste of time and money to navigate! Never was able to even use our tickets. Went by Tuk Tuk instead!
Used in Barcelona
I downloaded the app, purchased tickets on it and used throughout the day. Tours were great, we managed to do both coloured routes in a day in Barcelona, tours came with a map and headphones, so we felt like it was decent value. The app worked pretty well, showed my location and the location of buses, it was a little laggy, don’t expect it to be anything close to the maps already on your phone, I did have to close the app and reopen a couple of times to force it to update, and it drained my battery pretty quick, but honestly it wasn’t as bad as other reviews state, and was very useful for us. Buses got very packed just before lunch and then around 4/5pm when everyone was headed back so bear that in mind.
Not always working
Used it in Barcelona! When it was working, was nice to see the bus tracking but app is buggy and bus tracking isn’t always working or live and hard to predict when the next bus will come! Could have been a great app.
Good for attraction detail
The app is decent, I used it in Granada, Spain. It gives detail of the monuments and attractions along the route. I thumbed through them manually. The train locator function did not work for me. We started our tour at a manned stop so the attendant filled us in on when the train would arrive.
Great, very useful
I downloaded it for my trip to Barcelona and it has been great to have at hand all the routes and points of interest that i was going to see ob my bus route. I have also been able to go to the Aquarium of barcelona woth discount because in the app you can fins easily all the discounts available.
NEVER EVER book Madrid CITY TOUR BUS!
You will have to wait 45-60 mins even in the highest season! The drivers keep skipping the stops for stupid reasons and you will have to wait until the next or sometimes next two buses. The worst ever tour service in my whole life! You’re warned!!!

Me ha sido muy útil la app cuando he ido a Barcelona. He mirado en el mapa que atracciones había cerca de las paradas del bus, y además tiene localización del bus en tiempo real. También he mirado los descuentos que ofrecen y he utilizado un par de ellos.
Worst map app i have ever had
The app is SUPPOSED to show you where all the bus tour buses are and where the stops are. IT DOES NONE OF THAT. It shows you a static map of the routes with a vague marker of where the stops are. It does NOT show you where you are relative to the stop. It does NOT show you the address or direction to get to the stop you want to get on the bus. The paper map was infinitely more useful than the app and that says a lot. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM

Not as advertised
No live location for buses which the website promises. Stops aren’t clearly shown on the map. In Mexico City the city tour buses are actually branded turi-bus, and no mention is made of this. Wasted 2 hours just trying to find where to board the bus.

I won’t waste my time writing a detailed review because the first one that appears does a great job explaining the worthlessness of the app. I had to see for myself. They were spot on. Don’t waste your time downloading the app unless it’s to buy tickets.

Ich kann mich den vorherigen Rezensionen nicht anschließen. Wir haben die App für die Karte und den Livetracker in Barcelona genutzt und beides funktionierte wunderbar. Das Design könnte etwas hübscher sein, aber die App tut was sie soll. I can't agree with the previous reviews. We used the app for the map and the live tracker in Barcelona and both worked wonderfully. The design could be a little prettier, but the app does what its supposed to do.
App works but poor user experience
I was able to download Barcelona and use the app there without the issues experienced in the other reviews. However, the app is frustrating to use. Display is not optimized for iPhone X. Purchases in the app just take you to their website, and clicking the wrong button made me restart the purchase several times. All the main functionality within a city is accessed via the + button in the lower right. Not intuitive.

App Not User Friendly
The app is not user friendly. I had to click through the same screen to get to the routes. But there was no live tracking of buses, just an estimated time frame of arrival. Locations are also vague as to where they’ll be picking up.

Avoid at All Costs: City Tours Worldwide Madrid is a Complete Disaster and a Total Rip-Off! If I could give this pathetic excuse for a tour company zero stars—or better yet, negative stars—I absolutely would. City Tours Worldwide Madrid is nothing short of a fraudulent nightmare, preying on unsuspecting tourists with their broken, worthless app and utterly incompetent service. Just like that scathing review from a year ago that nailed it perfectly, this garbage app STILL doesn’t work in 2025! No live updates on bus locations? Forget it. Bus stops? Non-existent in their glitchy, outdated system. It’s like they built this thing in the Stone Age and forgot to update it ever since. I wasted hours standing in the blistering Madrid heat, staring at a blank screen, while their so-called “tours” vanished into thin air. What a joke! And don’t even get me started on their customer “service”—if you can call it that. These rude, brain-dead morons are the epitome of uselessness. I called them multiple times, only to be met with condescending attitudes, scripted nonsense, and zero actual help. They couldn’t care less about your problems; they’re probably too busy counting the money they stole from you. It’s infuriating how they dismiss complaints like you’re the idiot for expecting basic functionality. This isn’t service; it’s straight-up hostility! Do yourself a massive favor and steer clear of City Tours Worldwide Madrid like the plague. They’re a scam artist operation that deserves to go bankrupt. Choose literally ANY other company—heck, walking aimlessly would be more reliable and enjoyable. Save your time, money, and sanity; these clowns aren’t worth a single euro. Absolute trash!

Not sure if it’s the app or the City Tour bus service but don’t waste time or money with them. We unfortunately spent a lot of time looking at the app to see when buses would be arriving and the wait times were WAY off. Some buses would skip pickup locations. We would also see multiple other bus services come to pickup locations 2-3 times before a City Tour bus would arrive. Wish we would have chosen Big Bus. Tuesday - July 8th, 2025.
Horrible app (DON’T DOWNLOAD)
This app is completely not. Efficient and not helpful what so ever. It is extremely outdated. And I wish we went with a better and more effective company.
