What people like
- Very convenient for quick city trips
- Lots of stations in the city
- Bikes are usually good condition
What they complain about
- Docks often fail to register returns
- App is frequently inaccurate and buggy
- Classic bikes are hard to find
Great service. If you want better expect to pay more :p
People here complain about anything. App is very stable and you can always get a classic or e bike when needed or wherever in center city and surrounding areas. Just realize that some amount of classic bikes have broken shifters and some e bikes don’t have stated amount of batteries. But for $20 a month (1 hr unlimited classic rentals) what more do you want to ask for.
Horrible
I’m irritated that they don’t accept debit next time don’t make payment so complicated smh
Great idea, bad service
Just so unreliable. The app misleads as to how many bikes there are, if the electric have battery (they usually don’t), and even how many docks are available. It is ALWAYS wrong. They randomly move stations without any warning or notice. And what few stations there were in center city philadelphia, they are either full or empty. At best the bikes are heavy and clunky, but often something is wrong: low air on the tires, gears don’t change, seat won’t stay up. This company has poor maintenance and upkeep. Hope they get better but not holding my breath.
No Classic Bikes
I love this service in the summertime, but I just cancelled because there are next to no classic bikes, and you have to pay extra beyond your subscription for electric bikes. I would be happy to subscribe again once there are more in the system, but as of now what am I even paying for?!
Tronta Pounds
Great company, great service, please add more customized bike if you can! 😸👍🏼
The most frustrating experience ever
App is glitchy, policies aren’t clearly stated. You need the app to use the bikes, which isn’t made clear on their site. Docks have incorrect info on the app. Not worth it.
Never do 24hr pass
I would never do the 24hr pass again, you are still locked into 60min ride limits and if you go over on an electric bike you’re charged more than double the “daily pass rate”. If you’re going to interact with this service I’d recommend keeping it as uncommitted as possible, their only commitment is to add maximum fees. Bikes worked fine.
Don’t get annual pass
Annual pass allows you to ride classic bikes on a subscription basis. Only problem is, half the time stations have only electric bikes which you have to pay for like anyone else. Today, I wanted to bike somewhere and the 3 nearest stations had 0 classic bikes. When I wanted to return from my destination, all 4 classic bikes mysteriously were having errors but the electric bikes, which I have to pay extra for, didn’t. Feels like they just want us to pay more. Don’t get a subscription, you’ll end up riding electric bikes mostly anyways.
Love it
Easy system. Lots of stations to choose from. Some bikes are better than others. Overall I love it.
Predatory Practices
A friend and I got the monthly pass planning to save money getting around while in Philly. We saw there were extra fees for e-bikes but planned to take only the classic non-electric bikes. However the stations had 80% electric bikes and even when there were classic bikes they were often locked for no apparent reason. We would ride classic bikes to the stop by our hotel and then as soon as we would go back to ride them again they would be locked for no reason and we were forced to take ebikes. It ended up being far more expensive than expected due to the constant additional fees. Do not recommend
Bike Unlock
All of the bikes at the dock don’t come up on the phone when the bike you want is fully charged but not unlockable.
Easy to work
So far I’ve been using them for about three months and I’ve only had a couple issues that were resolved in a decent amount of time and they do get back to you and it’s very easy to use as long as you follow all the instructions. Very convenient to have in the city. Especially to have as a good date or to get somewhere quickly.
Charged $100 after returning bike
Bike stations are unreliable and frequently do not register that a bike has been returned. I was charged $100 after one of these instances in which Indego was not able to locate a bike that was returned. Customer service’s only recommendation was to take pictures of returned bikes and had no comment on improving any of their services in the future.
Not worth the pass
The bikes are nice when available… the problem is that the app is never accurate and the bikes are often in poor condition. Lately the app itself hasn’t been working and will say you checked out a bike that never unlocks. It’s been frustrating and cannot be relied on for daily transit
Excellent
I’m from Japan and I love Indego I’m surprised at how useful is it You should use
Station ate my bike
I tried to use this once and honestly I’ll never use it again. Ride 1 went fine, but when I tried to dock my bike and take it for another ride the station didn’t work and refused to let me or my other friend take a bike despite there physically being two bikes there. I contacted support and they were unavailable on weekends. I submitted an in-app review, never heard back. Finally texted them again and they refused to offer a refund for their ineptitude. I don’t recommend at all and am out $17 or so for one measly ride that I couldn’t use again because there weren’t any stations nearby the station that ate my bike. This sucks.
Very expensive unreliable e-bikes
If you want to bike in Philadelphia this is the only game in town. And you can tell it has no competition because of the poor condition of the bikes. There is an annoying button that you have to press to turn on the e-bike, it is not automatic when you pedal. A couple of my bikes would never turn on or only for a short time. You have to push this button also to see how much charge before you select the bike there is no continuous display and you can’t tell in the app. For sure this is the most expensive e-bike I have ever ridden at $0.30 a minute, or even with a “day” pass you pay 0.20 a minute AND if you are just sightseeing then over an hour you get extra fees on top of that. Ultimately our few logout sightseeing having to swap out several bikes with a day pass cost over $50 PER rider. Philadelphia needs some competition on e-bikes If you want to bike use the standard bikes. A day pass is $25 as long as you swap it out every hour then $15 is the cost.
More non-electric bikes please
Personally, I prefer to get some exercise using an unpowered bike. But electric bikes are the majority of bikes available.
Cool novelty, but unreliable as actual transportation
The Bad: Costs more than septa rides, especially e-bikes. The app is consistently inaccurate about bike/station availability. Acoustic bikes are rarely available so the subscription is a scam. Purchasing passes in the app is confusing as hell. What pushed me to write this review after months of tolerating indego was the latest app bug, where you try to check out a bike by tapping on a station but the app shows information about a completely different station. The Good: Bikes themselves are usually in good condition when you can get one. It’s great we have this service at all and the stations are pretty frequent and conveniently located for the densest areas of the city
Used to be amazing, now hit or miss
I used to absolutely love Indego, but as they phase out the non-electric bikes it is getting worse and worse. The electric bikes don’t allow the seat to go high enough for me, and the app is often wrong about how much charge they have so I end up having to use a dead bike too small for me. Or they just die even when they show a full battery. I have to change bikes mid-ride more often than I’d like, and sometimes the station doesn’t recognize that they’ve docked and then I get stuck since I can’t get a new bike. All while charging extra for e-bikes. I just bought my own bike after a couple years of being an enthusiastic customer.
Terrible support. Rarely a regular bike that doesn’t have trash in its basket.
I guess I need to find a regular bike. Whenever I try to use this it’s only e bikes available for an extra charge. If I wanted a motorcycle, I’d get one.
Good when it works
I personally wouldn’t rely on it, it’s okay when it works. But the constant buggy app is a turn off. Also, don’t forget that sometimes the dock won’t register you putting the bike back. So there’s the off chance you’ll be charged the entire day. You must do your due diligence and triple confirm.
It charges you and doesn’t work
I wanted to get with husband as we are visiting and it allowed me and since you cannot add someone to your ride or account, he had to create another account and it seems system didn’t take his password correctly (2 times we tried) however it did charge him both times… never got link to update password DONT GET it… had to waste 1 hour
Login issue
I cannot login to the App with my login data (working correctly on the web).
Hidden Fees and Service Issues
Systems unreliable/glitchy. Checkout often fails leading to no bike. Return often fails leading to large charges. Support is 50/50.
Makes no sense
You need two people to remove a bike. After pressing the release you get a split second to remove it. If the bike rocks a slight amount it will lock again. Then you are locked out completely! I had my wife try (another lengthy process) and she can only check out once. This means every person needs a smartphone. Just threw away money.
