The title says it all
Unreliable and Pointless
By not giving quantity of rain this app it useless. The Apple app it more accurate, free and gives much more information.

Insists upon giving us the weather for shearston not North Petherton . The weather is different.

I have 2 weather apps on my phone & unfortunately the met office is more wrong than right
Saving a location (not)
Today, when there’s a warning and I’m setting a new location I can’t see “Save location” any more even after scrolling.
I rely on Met Office
99% UK coverage. Lots of areas and regions abroad to choose from. It’s pretty good and reliable. Updated frequently. Well worth watching. It’s the only Weather App for me.
Efficient
The app is easy to use and seems very accurate.
Accurate Forecasts
I have been using the Met Office app for a couple of years now. I have found the forecasts to be extremely accurate making it easier to plan tasks outdoors. I use the app when I travel too.
Latest update is horrible
I’ve used this app for years and always found the information reliable and the app pleasant to use. Since the latest update, the appearance of the information in the app is messy and info that was previously displayed clearly has disappeared behind other screens. I can’t see how anybody could have thought this would be an improvement.
Fair to moderate
I find BBC weather and Acu weather more accurate but I do always refer to Met Office.
Met is reliable
Met Office way more reliable than BBC App, good graphics to communicate simply and quickly.. really like the Weather map. Proud of the British office, The Meteorological Office.
Another downgrade
Update Aug 2026: still no sign of “developers” (a loose term in this instance) actually listening to users. Still just as awkward to use. And another thing - in the old version you could go to your saved location, click on a future day, and be taken straight to that day in that location. In the new execration, you get taken to today’s date in that location - rather disorienting if the future day’s symbol had been, say, rain, but there’s no sign of rain for today’s weather. Original: Having finally been forced to change to the latest version, I’m glad I put it off as long as I could. This new one is terrible. Great big chunky icons taking up far too much space, so there’s less detail. Gusts are way down the page in a separate section that requires a separate set of scrolling. Warnings are hidden away, radar doesn’t work anywhere near as well. Why not leave things as they were instead of getting a work experience student in to come and wreck what was actually working?

Getting better at predictions at last! Need a link to inshore waters on this app though.

Reasonably accurate but often gets it wrong. The current location for my home is several miles away from where it should be and I had the same issue on the android app too. Apple weather and pixel weather has my current location spot on.

They’ve removed the ability to pay to permanently remove ads and also there’s a met office banner at the bottom of the app for some reason. Terrible

Very good.
Mediocre - would like some more stats please
I am a weather nerd and love weather stats, this is not the right app for me, it is for the casual user who wants to roughly know the temp and sort of rainfall for the next week. If the developers of this app want a good benchmark of comprehensive weather app excellence Aussie weather zone plus should be the first place to start.
Could be better
The content is very good indeed but the UI needs much improvement as per a multitude of reviews. I’m not going to feed back any more comments. For necessary improvements please reference the UI of the old version app.
Keeps me updated
I find the Met Office weather Forecast to be reasonably accurate and very helpful.
Names of locations....
Location names are still wrong, telling me I'm somewhere I am not...avoid!!!

The best weather app ever.
Privacy is clearly not a priority
Despite paying for the old ad-free version, seems Met took the opportunity to have a cash infusion. Technical ad delivery is always on. As is something about linking devices, device identification and maybe 100+ cookies that seemed to be tracking more than strictly functional. You can “reject all,” which surprisingly seems to apply to the poorly named “legitimate interests” cookies as well, so that's actually good. Jury's still out on whether it works and applies to new ad providers when added, or if they default to opted-in (as they do when you manually manage cookies). Odd that I must pay for an app when my taxes already finance the organisation, but here we are. Given most european meteorological offices get their data from the same place, jury's out on whether this is actually worth it. If you’re OK with the tracking bits, it’s an ok app. Locations are hard to search for and it covers fewer days than Yr (but seems less pessimistic).

Old phone
Just because I have an old phone now means I can’t see the weather forecast from the Met office. This is a pretty poor looking after the local population situation to be in. I do wish these big tech companies would stop upgrading and stop disenabling older devices to look at the weather.
Great but longer forecast needed
The app works well and the rain/cloud feature is really accurate. The only downside is that the long range forecast isn’t shown easily within the app only a general description in one of the menus

Accurate but not detailed enough
The timing seems to be pretty accurate - I usually cross check with 1-2 other weather apps. But as someone who lives in a rainy area (and being an app that’s from a rainy area), I’m very surprised it doesn’t give any rainfall amount data. 2cm of rain is vastly different from 8cm of rain. Other apps give this
Easy to use and informative
Great app that I use all the time when planning trips, etc. It’s never been wrong so far and I’ve been using it almost daily for a long time now.
Bring It Back!
What A Disaster — A GUI Catastrophe — the original app was perfect and easy to use — and the Maps feature great for checking out the future trajectories in terms of rainfall, temperature and wind direction…but the new app serves absolutely no purpose other than to frustrate us when looking for quick reference as to how the weather is developing…At least give us the choice of continuing to use the old app, if vanity allows 🙄

Search function broken
Ever since last week’s app update, the search location has ceased to function. Great app otherwise.
Simple and reliable
Mostly accurate interpretations and a simple UI. My go to for a summarised overview of the days weather. Would definitely recommend this for the day to day weather information
Location based forecasts
While the old app gave location based forecasts in the Republic of Ireland, this new app does not. A person wants to know what the weather forecast will be in their location not miles away from their location.
Still accurate
UKMET team are top of their class. Using the app for years. Not 5 stars though because the update has brought more confusion than clarity and user friendliness. Even the color layout is distracting, I am not sure if this what they were aiming. It is a pity because their forecast accuracy is second to none. Sad to see the Maps being shoved in the back when it is by far the feature most are using. Maybe bring back the previous design???
Good in many ways
When I downloaded this app I had no idea it was from the UK. They don’t give you the option to have the hourly forecast times of day in the standard 12 hour am/pm format, they only use 24 hour military time, that’s common in Europe. They also don’t show what the current temperature is.

New Layout Is Terrible
New UI layout is horrific, all I want is the map forecast and it’s been removed for this unintuitive mess. Please revert.

Very simple
If you are looking for basic simple weather forecast this might be for you. I need much more detailed in. Appears that it might be a more effective app in the UK. The maps were just of the UK, not the USA.
Top Weather App
Easily the best weather app. Intuitive interface and easy to understand. Most importantly the forecasts are very accurate.
Previously a 5 star app
Optimisations and improvements are something we all strive for but this new version of the app is far from that and is incredibly frustrating and difficult to use.
