Best camera in your pocket
I have had many cameras in all formats and fell in love with black and white photography. It can be a steep learning curve. This photo app lets you go through the process step by step and allows you to see the results on screen. You can make beautiful photos with a camera that you always have with you. It’s in your pocket.
Terrible
I was very disappointed with the purchase. No portrait mode, no film grain, terrible user interface. This is probably the worst camera app I have ever used.
Great B&W Camera. Probably needs an update?
Lots of controls here to dial in exactly what you need. My only complaint and maybe why I don’t use it that often is that it feels like it could use an update. When trying to swipe up out of the app, it never really works perfectly. It’ll take me a few times to hop to another app.
No film simulation?
The app is relatively easy to use. It has manual aperture and focus controls but the lock function is really confusing. It actually doesn’t seem to work for aperture. If I click lock and change the slider nothing happens. But what’s a killer is that it has no film simulation. I’m a long time b/w film photographer and switched over to the Fuji X1 series for b/w photography. Their film grain is excellent. Was hoping for an app which gives me this. So far Halide is excellent but $20 per year so no thank you. The search continues.

Il semble que le stabilisateur d'image ne soit pas géré et mes photos sont souvent floues, ce qui n'est pas le cas avec l'application native sur l'iphone.
Camera 1, Exactly what I was looking for!
Camera 1 is an app for both very experienced photographers as well as beginners. It’s many features and capabilities more than meet the expectations of advanced photographers, as well as being an app beginners can grow into as they expand their capabilities. Camera 1 takes me back to the good old days of Tri X 35mm photography. I love BW photography and Camera 1 more than meets my expectations!

Awesome app, quick feedback
This is an incredible idea for an app and could actually make me leave the film camera at home some days, or even indefinitely when traveling. Will be testing it out this week. Some immediate feedback: I would love to be able to choose the “focal length” for each shot. I only have 3 options now, ultra-wide - normal - tele. I’d love to pick like 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, etc. Second, the app crashes when I’m also saving raw files, and I click the camera roll in the top while the photos are still processing and loading. Will update the review as I shoot with it all this week on vacation! Looking forward to it.
No Zoom - Limits Usefulness
While this app offers a decent experience, the absence of pinch-to-zoom for focal distance adjustment is a significant drawback. Instead, it operates with three fixed focal lengths, which feels restrictive compared to the standard zoom lens functionality we’re accustomed to. I understand the developer’s intent, but this design choice severely impacts the app’s usability and enjoyment. For this reason, I cannot recommend this app.

its intuitive and very fast compared to other apps of its kind. but! on my iphone xs the live filters dont do nothing and the preview tonality is not always the same as the result. try to improve. merci
Hidden gem
Camera 1 is one of my favorite choices for shooting in black and white. It's simple and intuitive, and its images are crisp and stark. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Serenity
Like with films, I prefer to chose before rather than in post. So enjoying the serenity that comes with the app. Would love to have an option for anamorphic lens, so I don’t need to change app if shooting with one.

This is an amazing app. It fits a fully functioning multi lens camera with a full set of filters shooting in black and white on to your phone. The design and execution is flawless. I am an avid black and white amateur photographer using film and I love the way this app helps me to pre-visualize the photo before I take it. I can’t recommend this app too highly!
いちど前面カメラにするとRAW保存に戻らない
前面のカメラにするとRAW保存ができなくなる…のはハードウェアの制約なのだろうけども、そのあと背面カメラに戻してもRAW保存は外れたままになるようです
Love this app!
Was looking for a Black and White camera app so I could preview the results before taking the image. This isn’t the highest rated app but took the risk as it’s a one off payment with no in app purchase malarkey. Once installed WOW!!! Adore the interface really great to use and especially love the the photo gallery- awesome design!!! One issue I have however is that although I have ApplePro RAW switched on, it only seems to save jpgs which is a little frustrating as it would be good to play with the results in Lightroom (the only reason this isn’t 5 stars). Otherwise, great app! - phone used iPhone 13 Pro Max.

An exemplary camera app
One wants a camera app to at least take good pictures and have a sensible, attractive user interface. Camera1 is all that, but “goes to 11.” Plus it gives you manual control over a number of parameters. You can simply point and shoot and get a sophisticated, artsy, filmy photo with great resolution. But with only a wee bit more attentiveness, you can tweak the focus, exposure, and contrast right on the main screen. The controls are big and hard to miss. The switch from tele to normal to wide is there, too. The UI is only two layers deep, so it’s easy to get at a variety of file types plus a great selection of aspect ratios. The virtual color filters are as true-to-analogue-life as they come. Genius. There are additional luxuries with this Porsche of iPhone camera apps. Your response time is enhanced by full-screen shutter. Icing on the cake for us control freaks is zebra-stripe exposure warnings, so you blow out your highs only if you want to. Specialized. Elegant. Inspiring.
Bad ergonomics. Bad results.
Completely overpromised. Not worth the price.
Like-able, with drawbacks
It’s a slick, beautiful interface, with the necessary, more common controls (aspect ratio, filters, exposure, contrast) as well as manual focus (when it works), and, maybe the best feature, “zen mode,” which lets you remove distracting controls (other than a large Z at the top of the screen) and see just the image you’re about to take. (Apple should note this feature for its own app — it’s terrific.) Also good, the image fills the entire screen, top to bottom (and with the right aspect ratio, side to side as well). There are cons. The most serious, for me, is the inability to zoom in and out using the standard pinch gestures. The app has wide angle, normal, and tele settings, but you have to select the mode with a couple of taps (menu/setting). It’s slow, awkward and unintuitive, and worse, these are fixed views — one wide, one normal, and one tele — with nothing in between. Also, the manual focus feature seems to work only intermittently: sometimes it’s available, sometimes it’s not; there seems to be no reason for either state, and I can find no way to turn it on or off. I’ve been using Mpro for years, and I’ll continue to use it. For the moment, though, Camera1’s slick, seductive interface has me hooked — and will until its flaws piss me off one time too many. Later: I received a developer email (thanks, Sebastien) explaining some design choices: No standard zoom because digital cropping lowers resolution (I believe that’s the correct interpretation), and manual focus isn’t supported “when using the ultra wide angle on iPhone 11 and 11 pro … .” These are both reasonable choices (the second sounds like a technical challenge). For the right kind of photographer then, or for any photographer operating within chosen constrains, Camera1 is worth a try. The image quality is high, and the interface is slick. You may find, as I did, that you miss shots you might not have missed with a manual zoom, but there other apps for that.

Dès que je lance l'app, elle s'ouvre et quitte pour se mettre en tâche de fond. Donc, ne fonctionne pas, dommage. J'espère être remboursé...
Pas de prise en charge de l’iphone xs...
J’adore et utilise cette app depuis longtemps car j’adore son utilisation simple et son rendu mais quand je l’utilise sur mon iphone xs je ne peux plus la quitter et aller sur mes autres app et suis obligé d’éteindre mon téléphone pour pouvoir la forcer à quitter. Vivement une mise à jour et merci quand même à son développeur pour cette très bonne app
Great first impression
Just downloaded the app. Opening for the first time pops up a simple overview that is very effective walking you through the settings on screen. Original yet intuitive layout. I hesitated buying the app because the reviews said it was tedious to switch lenses, such as to super wide, but that is no longer a problem. There’s a button to do that right up front. So far, so good.
Crash.
Crashes constantly and randomly changes settings, unusable. Wasted money.
My favorite black & white camera app
Shows what your image will look like with your settings in real time. If you're just getting into photography this app will help you visualize the world in black & white. If you're a pro you can set up the app and it will stay out of your way. I love the Zen mode for just a pure shooting experience. I like the histogram pops up when you move the exposure slider. If you are experienced with shooting film, the color filters work very well. Produces great images straight from the camera. You can also view and export any image from your camera roll in black & white (no editing though). It would be nice to have the option to know what shutter and ISO are being used. Would like to see a save to tiff file option. Tapping anywhere on the screen for the shutter causes too many misfires for me, but you can use the volume buttons (you can also use the volume button on your apple earbuds).
Simple but efficient manual control
It is a manual black and white camera that leaves you with a good colour copy as well. Looking for a manual camera I realized that camera1 on my phone has been underused for years. Love the focusing control.

Worked fine until I upgraded my phone
