MUCH improved from when I last tried to use this

I’m really enjoying using this so far. I don’t use it with headphones/earbuds I just use it for speed to complete reports when working from home. I wanted an app where I can dictate templates for future use, I’ve been able to do this with no problems. Anything dictated has been understood and typed correctly

Don’t do it

I’m dictating this using Siri. Because I sure as heck can’t use dragon anywhere. But you can’t log in after subscribing. It takes your money but it won’t let you login and use the app. I’ve already wasted about an hour on this and I’m going to cancel my subscription and cut my losses. This is BS.

Very frustrating

The voice recognition has always worked very well compared to the alternatives I've tried. The app has since become unworkable for me. Connect to Dropbox functionality and send to email functions broke. In app account management has a broken link. I've tried to call Dragon support in my country but the phone number doesn't connect through to a service. Emailing Dragon customer support redirects me to another company that hasn't responded. I've tried creating an online customer support account with Nuance but this too is broken and I can't register. I've tried resetting, redownloading and relogging in to the app, now it tells me my subscription has expired (I'm still months from the end of the 12 month term). I'm in the bizarre situation of having an app that I can't use, that will likely renew my subscription when it runs out in a few months without my consent, and I can't even cancel it. Horrible. Avoid at all costs!

Good but a simple improvement could make it much better for me

I like the app and the more I use it the better it gets. BUT when using square brackets, [ ], can the form field navigator (up x down thing) be moved from the bottom right of the screen where new text gets written. What a schoolboy error that is. That is my major gripe with the app. Going forwards, it would be nice to have OneDrive integration for opening / saving documents Thanks, Dan

Fantastic

The app is astonishing in its accuracy and ease of use on both the iPhone and iPad. It has become an essential work ‘go to’ for me. Hopefully it will just go from strength to strength. One downside is the subscription expense and which price point I think needs revision, especially if you also purchase the desktop software. However, if you need accurate and fast voice to text software, the is THE product to use.

Like the app but can’t log in on an iPad?

I like the app, the dictation’s more accurate than Apple’s. I wish it integrated with other apps without having to copy and paste, but hey ho. The only problem is I can’t login on an iPad. I know my password is correct as I’ve logged in and out on my phone but the iPad says that password’s wrong. Quite frustrating.

Excellent on desktop, terrible on mobile, let down by Shop

On a desktop, for professional use, Dragon is head and shoulders above, almost any other kind of speech recognition for its speed, and accuracy, alone, let alone the unmatchable integration with editing, application, control, and the ability to create custom libraries of words. Sadly, the mobile version is nothing like as accurate, Fast, or powerful. Unless you are in a perfectly acoustically quite environment, it really struggles, and switching between the phone, microphones and earbuds causes other problems. Both desktop and mobile are badly let down bye an absolutely awful shopping experience thanks to an outdated non-integrated, clunky and error ridden Implementation by Digital River/nuance. If you are expecting a “click to buy and go” experience, you are going to be really disappointed as there are multiple manual steps involving email, data, input, and a ferociously complicated miss match between the passwords for the application, the password for the American store, the password for the UK store, the password for the support system, and the passwords for the Apple app. It’s a complete joke. (The terrible punctuation and errors in this review are all caused by apples, own voice recognition joke)

Dropbox Synch broken

Update—still not fixed after 5 months. One would think they’d have issued a fix by now. They still advertise it as a feature in their sales literature. IB _________ I really like this App, but Dropbox Synch stopped working with the last release, having worked faultlessly hitherto. When I logged a Support Ticket they asked me for additional info: the usual stuff like OS version, and a screenshot of the error message, but I haven’t heard from them since, despite 2 chasers. My subscription is due for renewal in about a week. I’ll renew, nonetheless, as I’ve used Dragon products for around 25 years, with all the ups and downs. The App isn’t cheap, and it would be nice if it worked properly. Integration and synching with MS OneDrive for Business would be a great feature to implement too. Ian

Superb

I have been using this app for 5 years to write medical reports every day. I have put the time in to train it. The accuracy is brilliant - better than Dragon Professional for Windows. Today, a 700 word letter - not a single error. I use it currently with an iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) and the uprated studio quality mics and 8 core processor may have made it even more accurate. Even works through a surgical mask. When 5G becomes widely available, the speed will be even better I imagine.

Nuance support useless!

App suddenly stopped working 18.12.2025 on my Apple iPhone 17 pro - before then, working perfectly well. It keeps saying it is failing to restore subscription even though I have a fully paid annual subscription that renews July 2026! I have tried pretty much everything including deleting Aop and re installing but nothing works even though I put all the correct credentials in. Have raised this with Nuance support but they don’t seem to have a clue and just going round In circles. Now looking for a new dictation App and will be asking Nuance for a refund.

Updated review: it’s actually good

I originally hated this. But then I tried every other app imaginable. This one is far superior and with a bit of training you can write really good notes really easily. You need to train a few key words you use. And if you’re in a noisy area just speak into your phone microphone don’t use headphones. It’s the only app I’ve found that lets you train a large vocab, allows you to do big autotexts, allows you to spell out words without bugs, and format with more options. Office word misspells heaps of words and drives me nuts. iOS isn’t bad at all but you can train or add to the vocabulary in the same way as you can with this app. My only request is that you could import a list of words. For some reason I can’t do that despite following their instructions. It has sped up my practice enormously and my notes are far better than they ever have been. Give it a bit of time and you’ll find it to be quite good!!

Really impressive app. Costly but worth it

The built-in dictation option in Notes on iOS is good, and works fine for short reminders etc, but Dragon Anywhere is in an entirely different league. I used Dragon on Mac desktop for a project some years back and liked it, though the fiddling around with microphone inputs and Mac audio preferences was a bit painful. Looking for something for a new project t I first though of going the same route but then reckoned the flexibility of having the microphone in my phone (even if only moving about the house) was worth trying. The result is a no-frills (even quite basic) app that nevertheless impressed with remarkably accurate transcription and a simple and clever sync to Dropbox that means your new text files are ‘everywhere’. I’d have loved more flexibility with shortcuts and inter-app sharing (for instance I use PhraseExpress for shortcuts to boilerplate text, and would love to be able to call up shortcuts by voice, but perhaps that’s a limitation of iOS). That said Dragon Anywhere has a useable shortcut system built-in which will be enough for most users. Otherwise this is a near-perfect implementation of dictation to text software and, for anyone with the need for accuracy, reliability and volume, is well worth the annual subscription.

Frustrating to use at times and I have to manually go through and edit all of my dictated content every time, as words that I don’t even use come up in the text despite speaking slowly and clearly and many repeatedly. The voice commands are hit and miss. Disappointed but I am hoping that the developers can improve the app, as the concept is very good.

Awful customer support

It does not capture my voice correctly, presents loads of mistakes, it has issues with punctuation. I have been trying to cancel the subscription for half a year now. No customer support email, only phone number for UK customers and they tell me they cannot cancel the subscription due to a problem with their payment platform so I have the service for free. Now in January their system tells me I’ll be billed US180.00 and no button to cancel and the gentleman from client services George tells me I have to enjoy the service for free and I will not be charged anything. I tried explaining to him various times I would like to cancel the service right now and he said I need to enjoy the service for free and in 2026 I’ll get an email to cancel it. It’s just absurd. I have to keep reminding myself to call them now again in Jan 2026 to try and cancel this service I no longer need.

Good but needs work

As a visually impaired dyslexic, I have been using voice recognition software on and off for 20 years, right back to the days when IBM Voice used to think my name was “Loot Wrexham” - As in “pillage a place in Wales”. While Siri and Google Voice are good, Dragon is the OG. What I really like about this app is the replace function, and editing is simple like using Word. Exporting to email, .docx and.pdf is smooth. There are quite easy instructions to follow. It does exactly what you want it to. The downsides of the app: The monthly price is more expensive than the average monthly subscription, which could put it out of the reach of some of the people who may need it the most – disabled people on lower incomes. It’s more expensive than luxuries like Spotify and Apple Music. Also, the voice commands are a little bit strange. Even though I have selected the UK English option, when I say the word “period” a full stop “.” appears, which is a pain when if I want to write about a woman having a period, an observation period, an accounting period, a period in time, etc. There needs to be a way of fixing this as in the UK a “.” is called a full stop. I should add that I dictated this to my secretary Siri with few edits on my part. So to justify paying nearly £11 a month, Dragon need to up their game.

Used to love

I used to love this app. I've been using it for many years. It was five stars all the time. Then it started to interpret coughs and sneezes as words, so I changed it to 4 stars. But sadly in the last few months, the number of mistakes it makes in dictation with my voice has mushroomed. It used to make mistakes in noisy environments, such as when there was a fan going or something. Now it makes the same number of mistakes, even in a silent atmosphere. Same tech.

No matter what I do, the app will not accept my credentials despite being able to log online and the software on my PC working as it should. There is nowhere on the app to email anybody for help. All that you can do is reset the password which I did twice. I’ve since deleted the app as I cannot access it and I don’t want it taking up volleyball. Space

Better than iOS

Currently using this in the medical field. If you spend time teaching this the subtleties of your dialect/accent it works well. Whatever words in a document it misspells I add as a word manually and confirm with my speech. It’s not a panacea to solve all dictation issues but definitely a step up from iOS. Is the expensive medical version of this better? One wonders.

Good when it works but frequently doesn’t.

I have found that you more often than not get the “error on the speech recognition server. Please try again later” message when trying to use this app than you don’t. Aaaaaaaagh!!! (see updates)

Just to confirm what other reviewers have said… I signed up on the website for the free trial and downloaded the app. But I cannot sign in to the app. Password reset does not work — no reset email ever arrives. I CAN use my details to log in to the online store, which is handy, because it’s enabled me to cancel. It’s a shame because I understand that Dragon is the best dictation software and I really wanted to try it. Perhaps it’s just me, but it seems an unusual business strategy to sell a product that customers can’t access. UPDATE: Oh, it’s set up for multi-user corporate customers! So, log in to your online account and add a user licence for yourself (see instructions in the welcome email). Then you’ll get an activation email. Open that on your phone and you will be able to create an app account. Nuance software, you should put these instructions on your website in letters 8ft tall during the initial sign-up process. UPDATE2: I liked the software but had allowed the trial to expire. I really needed to use it one day, so I went back to the shop and reactivated the license. But the app keeps saying the license has expired. I have sent the user set up email again, and logged in again to the app, and it still says that the license has expired. This is a really great product, but, honestly, they make it almost impossible to use. The absurdity of it is almost overwhelming! UPDATE3: Six days later and it still doesn’t work. The licence is assigned correctly in the online portal. App reinstalled. Still doesn’t work. Have given up — so much for Dragon, what a waste of time!
