Doubling Subscription Cost

I switched to Verizon Call Filter, works just as good for $3.99/mo less than 1/10th the new Robokiller price. The app worked great but I canceled the subscription once they announced they’re doubling the subscription price.

Good concept

This app successfully screens spam callers and wastes their time. It also gives you a lovely recording of the spam callers talking to your robot. Unfortunately, many spam bot centers now use AI bots that look for specific responses fo avoid wasting time (“can you answer yes or no?”), which RoboKiller’s recordings can’t effectively counter. Still, I appreciate not having my phone ring throughout the day, and I HUGELY appreciate them getting my information off the databases these spam callers use. That alone has decreased the number of spam bots I get. If it were cheaper, 5*. Because they charge $100+/yr, 3* until they can figure out a RoboAIKiller to get the AI bots to transfer to a human.

It does what it’s supposed to do but…

I love the features that it offers and everything it does block the calls, but I end up having so many voicemails like one time 13 voicemails but the text I still get which I’m still working on the Settings one thing I would love for Robokiller to have the option to get paid for every spam call in text that you receive that will be highly highly recommended other than that, it's a great app. Update: everything is good it’s just the voicemails are bad! Even when I stared on my voicemail greeting robo callers will be blocked and they still leave messages! It makes me so upset! I wish this whole operations just shut down or get sued! I wish that Robokiller had an option to say you have reached a disconnect led number option instead of playing with the robo caller.

Not Impressed

Have had the pro subscription for about a week now. Has cut down somewhat on the calls received. Has not blocked any call other than the initial test call. It labeled a call “Online Advertising” but still allowed the call to ring on my phone. Answer bots have not worked once. Will be canceling the pro subscription at the end of the week unless a real support agent replies to my email not an AI generated response that does not help.

More like blocking 80% of the scam calls

The app claims to be able to block 99% of scam calls. I would say it’s more like 70%. Still good but could be better. The app can only detect English speaking calls. Sometimes I get those Chinese scam robo calls and the app tried to understand it in English (gibberish in English) and let them pass through. The app is also useless trying to filter out spam calls base on phone numbers. The robo call numbers are all spoofed, each call is coming from a random number (I get about 3-5 a day). But all those robo messages are all the same, I thought for a $50 app they will do pattern recognition instead of simple phone number block list.

Stopped working

I got the app about a week and a half ago, it worked really well at first. However today the call forwarding and screen call feature completely stopped working. I noticed when I woke up this morning and had a couple spam calls that weren’t logged in the app. The calls also rang through my cellular network. I troubleshot for about 2 hours and contacted support. Support couldn’t really help me because it was AI and could only respond in automated responses.

None More

I’ve had Robokiller for a while now. I first got a subscription in early 2019 for $3.99 a month, which felt like a bargain!! In 2024, they increased the price to $5.99, which also felt like a fairly reasonable price, but the service seemed to be going downhill. I just found they want to go from $6/month to $12/month. This is outrageous and absurd. Their service has gotten so bad and now they want double for that poor service. I immediately canceled. The different between using Robokiller and not now is about maybe one or two calls blocked. Since about when they did my first price hike in 2024, the service has blocked fewer and fewer spam calls. If that’s because the scammers have gotten a lot better, then the service just isn’t worth it anymore. If that’s they’re at the limit of their tech and they need more money for more infrastructure, then it’s not worth it because that’s a never ending problem and the scammers won. If it’s because they’re greedy, then it’s not worth it because the company has become just another greedy tech company that’s uninterested in client satisfaction. This last one I suspect is the case. They want double what Dropout charges for a subscription to sometimes block some maybe spam calls. I’m very disappointed. I have referred probably a couple dozen friends and coworkers to this service over the years and now it’s overpriced garbage.

Works well, should be more flexible for business

May 11, 2023 (User from Canada) I’ve been using RoboKiller for just over a year now and I’m happy with the performance. I use this for work, as I started receiving a lot unsolicited, spam type calls. A couple of issues I would like to resolved: > an option to record a personalized message for the call screening message, instead of having to use the prerecorded ones (female & male option’s current available). Several of my customers don’t leave contact info because they don’t know if they have the right number because it doesn’t identify me as the recipient. > allow an option to flag text messages as “not junk” that have ended up in the Junk Messages folder, without having to create a contact. In some cases the text message are from auto-generated notifications and not necessarily a contact. > there is no “badge” notification on the app when someone leaves a voice message. I’ve turned this option in in settings and my apps are up to date, but still no badge notifications. Aside from these issues, the app has made nuisance calls a thing of the past.

So far I had this app for two days I have had no spam calls. If you’re hesitant because of the reviews, don’t listen to them. I believe all the one star reviews are people who work for spam calls. My phone would ring nonstop all day. And now it has been finally silenced. I am not someone who works for sponsor or company. I truly believe all those one star reviews are people who work for spam callers are trying to negatively give the company a bad review so that you would keep from subscribing and having to deal with their nonsense

Not keeping up with advancements

UPDATE: THEY INCREASED THE PRICE BY $50! I used to love this app and told everyone I knew to get it. I even have the annual membership but as of late, scammers, solicitors and the like are finding ways to circumvent the verification process. They now time their recordings so it tricks the system. If it continues, I’ll have to find a new service altogether. Also now, when I google a number from my phone “robocallers” results pop up first which isn’t helpful as the system doesn’t know who it is. Disappointing.

I’ve only had the blocker for a day, but so far it hasn’t blocked anything. Everything is set up properly, but I’ve continued to get calls and texts that my iPhone marks as Spam Risk. ★★☆☆☆ Canada · v24.7.6 · 26 Aug 2024

Unresponsive to bug reports and feedback

While this app does work for the most part, it’s far from perfect. I have been using the paid, premium version for over a year now. The technical support team is extremely slow and unresponsive. It took over a month to fix a post-update bug that stopped Canadian customers from activating the app. That’s a month of paid service I did not receive and I’ve been given no compensation for it. I have also made am important suggestion several times over the past year, that the outgoing screening message be changed or become customizable. The current wording is not effective and people mistake the screening announcement for voicemail. They then try to leave a voicemail and hang up rather than stating who they are and why they are calling, and holding onto the line while I have a chance to review it. I don’t know how much active development and app improvement is actually happening, but I would venture to say very little to none. Every time I’ve made this suggestion, I’ve been given a canned response and no indication that it will ever be taken seriously. The only reason I am still using this app is because it is peerless in what it purports to do, and the only other competing product that comes close is equally worthless when it comes to tech support. And it doesn’t actually work whereas this one does. In other words. If another app came along that did what this app does, or if my carrier implemented a call screening function in the future, I’d probably drop Robocaller in a heartbeat at this rate. But honestly. For $130 a year I should be receiving far better service and product improvement than what I’m getting now. This is why my rating is worth two stars.

Constant failures iPhone

This app does not function well on my iPhone. I can accept a call it tried to flag, and if I get another spam call at the same time, it will put my real call on hold and no way to switch back. It blocks my children’s schools from calling me automatically and is not intuitive enough to make it easy for me to correct this issue. I still get massive amounts of spam calls/texts/voicemails about lending regardless. Since I’ve installled it, I’ve had my husband and other family members start to get spam addressed to me instead, and that is a worse problem. It’s equally as disruptive as the spam.
