Description
Contingencias is the weather app built for people who actually need to act on the forecast — backyard orchard owners, hobby farmers, homesteaders, and homeowners who can't afford to be caught off guard by frost, hail, or severe storms.
We watch the sky so you don't have to.
FROST AND FREEZE FORECASTS
Hyperlocal frost forecasts powered by Met Norway data, classified on a 0–4 scale so you know exactly when to cover your citrus, fire up the heaters, or move potted plants inside.
Multi-day frost outlook
Class 0–4 severity (light frost to hard freeze)
Push alerts before the temperature drops
Temperatures in Fahrenheit
HAIL DETECTION FROM SPACE
Real-time hail detection using the GOES-19 satellite. We track storm cores as they form and alert you before hail reaches your property — minutes that can save your roof, your car, and your harvest.
Live satellite imagery
Storm core tracking
Push alerts for hail risk near your location
Coverage across all of the Americas via GOES-19
LIGHTNING AND SEVERE STORM ALERTS
Know when lightning is striking near you and when a severe storm is closing in. Useful whether you're working outside, irrigating, or just deciding if it's safe to walk the dog.
Real-time lightning strikes
Severe storm warnings
Distance-based notifications
AIR QUALITY (AQI)
Daily AQI powered by CAMS and ECMWF. Plan outdoor work, runs, and kid time around clean air — not guesswork.
EARTHQUAKE ALERTS
Real-time seismic alerts via the EMSC global network. Magnitude, depth, and distance from your saved locations.
BUILT FOR GROWERS
If you run a backyard orchard, a small farm, or a hobby vineyard, Contingencias gives you the tools that used to be locked behind expensive pro weather services:
Evapotranspiration (ET₀) for irrigation planning
Cold accumulation hours for fruit trees
Frost class forecasts for spring bloom protection
Hail risk for harvest season
VIGIA: CUSTOM ALERTS (PREMIUM)
Set your own thresholds. Wind above 25 mph? Temperature below 32°F? Hail within 10 miles? Vigia watches and pings you the moment your conditions are met. Up to 5 custom alerts. No spam.
WHY CONTINGENCIAS
Hyperlocal — alerts tied to your exact GPS, not a county-wide warning
Practical — built for people who need to act, not meteorologists
Honest — we tell you the data source (GOES-19, Met Norway, CAMS, EMSC) so you can trust what you see
Push-first — you don't need to open the app for the important stuff
WHO IT'S FOR
Backyard orchard owners (apples, citrus, almonds, stone fruit)
Hobby farmers and homesteaders
Homeowners worried about hail damage to roofs and vehicles
Small farmers across Hail Alley (TX, OK, KS, NE, CO)
Anyone who wants real alerts, not generic forecasts
