EGW 2 is worse than the original
The EGW 2 app is a maze and poorly designed. I can never get back to where I was, the picture illustrations of the books just take up extra space and make for extra scrolling to find what you need. I enjoy the audiobooks but they are not in the history and good luck trying to get back where you left off. I have yet to find the Bible. Aside from the audiobooks, the original is a hundred times better.
I love it and I can see it doing even better…
I am beyond thankful that I have all of these precious volumes right here in one app! I love that I can read or listen, and that I can cross-reference to the Bible all in one place! If I could see it improve, it would be in the following ways (and maybe I just haven’t figured out how to do these things yet): 1.) I would make the text size adjustable. 2.) I would make the audiobook narration speed adjustable. 3.) I would make it possible to find a text based on the hard copy pages, without having to know which chapter it’s from. For example, if someone says “it’s from DA 624” I could look that up in the app by typing that in the search (is that already possible?) 4.) I would make a list that shows the book title abbreviations and what they stand for. 5.) I would make it possible to access EGW’s Bible Commentaries, whether in this app or through a link to a separate app. Keep up the awesome work! This is a major blessing in my life and I’m just one person! -BKW
App is old and outdated
This app is in bad need of a refresh. The design is slow, clunky, unwieldy, lacks features, and feels old. There needs to be a new version with tabs for multiple locations open at the same time. Search needs to be updated with an LLM framework to make searching for quotes easier. The whole UI needs to be modernized and redone. This app just feels old. I would love to know if there is work being done to move this app into the future.
Lots of content !
Good app for content pertaining to Adventist content m. Would be great to have a speed button. 1.5X or 2X.
Clear and pure truth
Great App and powerful collections of commentaries!
Crashing
Lately it has been crashing all the time
“Out of this world” so, it should be a better experience app.
The content and teachings of this book are literally “out of this world”, not five, but 100 stars; that’s why it should be a better experience app.
Everything Wiped!
I have just updated this App and lost EVERYTHING! All of the notes that I made within various books, everything that I colour coded with highlights (even the correct dictionary meanings, which even this new version doesn’t have! Quite frankly the worst in app dictionary, ever)! Usually with iOS Apps, when you upgrade, your previous content is saved; not with THIS APP <sigh>. I’ve lost years of notes and salient information and links! I’m gutted! I cannot with a good conscience, recommend this App for anything other than reading. It’s free and I certainly got what I paid for!
Not user friendly
The old EGW app like the red one was better than this version. Can you put it back? 🥺
The hope i need
This app should be a must to have by everyone, especially those going through hard times.
With much review
Though there’s some foundational, there’s also some unfoundational teaching that does not align with the holy scripture. There’s something that can be learnt but would advise caution and discernment
Save where left off reading, listening
Love the app! Works well 95% of the time. One annoying aspect is that if you return to a book you were reading, or an audiobook you were listening to, the app doesn’t remember where you left off and you have to scroll to the page or chapter you were at. Also, transitioning from WiFi to LTE data while listening to an audiobook sometimes causes playback to freeze.
Great Content Poor User Interface
I have given 2 stars purely because the content is great and if this review was based on content alone it would be 5 stars. I am very frustrated with this app, the old app was great to use, searching was excellent, quick, intuitive, great for studying having multiple windows open and so simple that anyone could use it. All downloaded on to my phone so I didn’t have to rely on the internet when I want to go on airplane mode and cut out all distractions or when I was on holiday. Looking at the other reviews it seems the majority really enjoyed the old app. Now I’ve been forced to use the EGW2 app for about a year now as the old one has stopped working on my phone possibly because it needs a very slight update to the app to continue using it with the latest iOS. EGW 2 app is slow, crashes multiple times, confusing, glitchy and very difficult to navigate through. The audio is up and down so I use YouTube instead of the app as the audio is very dated. I really struggle with this. I have given up and use the old one on the iPad as it still currently works. The only things I like are the extra books you get and the ability to convert books to pdf to share with friends. I think it is good for those who have limited space on their devices as the old app was huge and with this app you can download a bit at a time. But the problem is the negatives far outweigh the positives. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE update the old app so we can keep using it!
Latest version will not start on my iPhone
Just upgraded to latest version and not app crashes in startup
…and the Truth shall set you free!
Amazing tool for us to learn more about God’s plans for us. It does not substitute the Holy Bible, it complements it.
Can’t beat the old
Terrible UI not better than the old app. Hard to navigate through it. Slow & laggy, very difficult to highlight stuff.
Could be improved
Should have female voice NOT man reading as though she, Ellen herself would be reading it. Some read aloud words are different to words in print, e.g, just now i heard “redeemed,” instead of sanctified, refined, and ennobled in/ at AA 49.3. Text should scroll through following reading so that what is being heard read aloud can be also seen and read.
Not really
I have been using version 1, and found that to be a lot better, this version uses a lot of internet, down loaded form the internet all the time, and when your in places that has no internt, it doesn’t work. You are also asking for personal information, i dont like this, i dont thin that you should take myinformation for you!!! How ever i do like the audio part, BUT it sometimes misses parts
PKD
Lately the app is always downloading and updating books when trying to open it, as a result it takes a very long time to open the app. Can you please look into it! Thanks
A must have for christians
The app works wonderfully, has all the features you may need. I have never had an issue using it and it’s more sophisticated than I originally expected
Poor replacement
Not even a shadow of the previous app. Unreliable and difficult to download material. Constantly drops out and frequently crashes and then requires the user to re-establish your account details. I think the enemy of souls has taken control here?
Sleep timer
I love this app but the only thing missing that comes to mind is the absence of a sleep timer. Perhaps I just haven’t found it?
Update - fix it please
Hi. After last 3 updates my app doesn’t work as before at all. Search option is dead! I have all books downloaded and still unable to find any word, any reference even when trying offline or online search. Any chance to fix it please? Is there anything that I can change to settings? Thank you
Great concept, but recent glitches
I love this app and I’ve been using it for quite some time. Unfortunately, recently there have been a lot of glitches. First my subscriptions didn’t show up properly. I would receive a notification that a subscription had arrived, but when I attempted to access it, nothing was there. Now it appears all the books have disappeared from my library with no apparent way to bring them back. I also found that my highlights have disappeared. I’ve tried logging out and in again but nothing seems to work. It’s gotten to be point where I can no longer use the app for any real purpose. I hope these problems can be fixed as I have loved the app in the past and it’s a wonderful way to read and study Mrs White’s writing.
Review EGW app!
Just an Awesome Blessing and Support in my christian journey and growth! God Bless the team who was and still is being inspired by God to be instruments of God’s love and greatness to all of us who choose to know and share this Outstanding God. Thank you!
Disaster
I lost 5-6 years of notes and references because this App failed and would not load. After about a week I deleted it and reinstalled hoping that the data files may have been stored separately. And there was no info on the website to say what problem was. Just kept getting a message about “mirrors” and the App just wouldnt open. Don’t trust it with personal information or put any work into it. Never again😡
Cannot listen with phone close
Cannot listen to Eg white audio books when your phone is close why
DOWNLOADED FILES CANNOT BE SHOWN
Giving 2 stars only because my downloads wont show up after an update. searching in offline wont show hits from my downloads. please fix these. i wont clear it's data for i have much notes in it. please fix this issue where books wont show up in MY COLLECTION.
‘Languages’ option glitch
It would be great if you could fix the ‘languages’ option. When I click it nothing comes up just a white screen. I was looking to read some books in Tagalog. Thank you.
A Blessing for Bible and Spirit of Prophecy Study
The EGW Writings App is an incredible blessing for anyone who wants easy access to the writings of Ellen G. White. Having the complete collection of her books, letters, manuscripts, and devotionals available in one place is truly amazing. The search feature makes it simple to find quotes or study specific topics, and the ability to read the Bible alongside her writings makes personal study even richer. I especially appreciate how convenient it is to have these inspired writings available anytime—whether during personal devotion, sermon preparation, or deeper study. The app is well organized, easy to navigate, and constantly expanding with helpful resources. This app is a wonderful tool for anyone who wants to grow spiritually and better understand God’s Word through the counsel given in Ellen G. White’s writings. I highly recommend it!
BRING BACK SDA BIBLE COMMENTARY VOLUMES!!
I don’t understand why they were removed from the app!!! Bring them back PLEEAAASEEE
Love it
Great treasure trove of blessings! The computer voice readers are a little irritating, and it would be nice to have the option of choosing only one chapter read at a time …. However, it really appreciated!
So long to open?
The app recently has taken Sooooo long to open, says its cleaning indexes. Even if using it then open another app for like half an hour, come back and it has to do it all over again. If reading a book it can take like a minute to open app, then open history, (takes ages again) then open your book. Any ideas why?
Exceptional
I love the app, However it becomes challenging when i cannot highlight the parts I enjoy for future reference.
DDE
Exceptional
App won’t open
Updated the app and now can’t even open it.
Recommandation
Je recommande cette application à tous
I cannot search while offline
I’ve had this problem of not being able to search offline after the recent update.
Pastor
I like the content but the apps crushes all the time this time. It shuts down and it's gone from my IPad with no apparent reason. Please update. But like I said, it's otherwise a great app!
Glorious
Great, very good.
App is broken- no sign in & no search possible
ditto 1*
EG White books
Really good. I do wish you could change the speed of audio books!!
Downloaded files disappear
I have given this new version a chance but I will have to go back to your old app. Not only is this one taking up more memory, the downloaded files also just disappear all of a sudden. This has happened twice. It took me days to download. And when the internet charge is per megabyte, this hurts the wallet. Please fix this.
Good but needs work
Good app. It is shaping up to be a good replacement for the old app, however it really needs the option to sort study centre folders in alphabetical order as I have many folders and find it almost impossible to track down some of my highlights. Lastly when searching by references I have to type in the entire book name as well the page number and paragraph. Can the search also support the old way of searching for references aswel? I.e. to search by typing the abbreviations e.g. COL 30.4 as currently it doesn't recognise it when I do. Once these things are done I think it'll be perfect
Todo en tu iPhone
Excelente herramienta, buenísimo muy bueno se lo recomiendo
Do Not Update to EGW2
In an attempt to make the first one better they made it worse and impractical to use. I deleted and went back to the first and I’m much better off. Minimum star is 1 but intended to give zero.
What a blessing
Excellent features. Cloud based, syncs across my devices. My only quibble is the “select text” feature is finicky and doesn’t work near the edges of a page. Keep up the good work and may the Spirit continue to be with you in this ministry.
Personally don't like the changes
I can see what the app is trying to do, but when you can't move your old data that's saved in folders over in their places, it's off putting. Plus having to download every book instead of having them all available isn't great, as it takes up more space. Having to view it online is a good alternative, but that can eat up data foreseeably. The interface and the options for other bibles is nice however. As well what the other pioneers wrote. However, I'll stick with the first version.
Good
Would love to be able to favourite books/writings to go back to them. Like a to read list which includes chapters of books too
