Found a bug
Great game, I’ve spent hours on it! I did find a couple bugs though. In Elthera’s cave, when you “Look at ropes” it says I’ve found a rope ladder and put it in my pack. But it’s never obtained. Second, there’s random treasures to be found in the swamp, or stolen from Fenestra. All of them only ever give me Jewels of Gold, even though I already have one. They’re supposed to give items one doesn’t already have.
Download
Paid for the game and it wouldn't let me download, deleted apps, videos and pictures and it still wouldn't download, reset my phone and it still wouldn't download
Cool
Fun
Feels Like Homework
Don't get this game unless you have countless of hours to throw away. It's not for the casual gamer that needs short and fun entertainment. Get Warlock on Firetop Mountain if you want a more balanced experienced.
Mixed feelings
Technically this game is almost flawless, the implementation by Inkle is amazing, and it looks beautiful with solid sonics. However the game is very frustrating as you can suddenly die or lose important items for random reasons, meaning there’s no real skill in the gameplay. And you can trek around endlessly in the latter stages of the game. I enjoyed the books as a boy but the digital version exposes the central flaw in the genre. Average.
Love Sorcery my top five phone games!!!
I only just began Sorcery 3, as I am still halfway in Sorcery 2 (I beat sorcery 2 but there’s an alternative storyline I really want to attempt before fully immersing into sorcery 3, I can’t wait to fully play through as I have with one and two) More than likely you could play this game ten times over and not see the same thing twice. It’s a very thought immersing, sophisticated, well put together and designed strategy game. The story, characters, lore, the items even are memorable, and the places you have traveled definitely will give you either fond memories or bad memories. Those memories and feelings can change quickly for one event that was previously not explored, or even a spell, or a different conversation can and will result in different reactions. I have so far, gotten through Sorcery One and half through Sorcery two, I did try Sorcery three and stopped to finish the second. I can’t wait to finish them all and play again. You do not need thought provoking applications or memories and brain enhancing apps. Strategy, euphoria, thinking five, six and sometimes well ahead, while being mindful to a common person and just as cautious with what appears benign, but being open to take risks progress you in so many facets and ways in your mind and the game. It is in many senses, almost a game that can be utilized as a very seldom life experience for real life. Always be careful in all situations but live your life and have fun always while listening to all your senses and feelings. Your mind is the present, logic, and memories or reason. Your heart is what guides you and the present moment to always be aware of and follow. Your gut is instinct and the future. Always remember that and it will be understood in time to know if your heart and mind are being tricked by something you can’t see if your gut is telling you no. Or if your gut says yes and your heart is weary is only telling you to proceed guarded but with courage. Always rationalize and never listen to anything but your internal voice. If it doesn’t feel right. It’s not. I guess I’ve been playing this game too much. Well. Back to it. Thank you!!!!
Just plain boring
Not a great deal to say. Nice interface and graphics. But after playing this several times for a few hours just doesn't grab me Cause and effect seem somewhat random and most progression feels like reading a book (but less satisfying). Fair attempt at something new but frankly just found it a bit dull and uninspiring.
FIX THE GAME
I absolutely love this series, but there currently is a bug that restricts me from crossing to Lake Illad, REALLY ANNOYING! I didnt pay $5 for only half of the game :/
Yawn
The game looks fine it's just a bit boring. Tried to play it a few times but there's nothing that's drawing me back in. Would have been nice if they had included some animations in the game. It's all a bit 2D and dull.
Love the game, but could be better
I have loved the sorcery games and it was so much fun to play a continuous story like this, but... Sorcery 3 is the worst out the the 4 games I don't feel it has much enforced plot I played through this whole map in about half an hour and then restarted it as I didn't understand why the serpents where important and there was no indication that I had to fight then it felt like they where trying to fill the gap between the sorcery 2 and 4 with something. I loved the time puzzles though amazing idea.
Even better
I went over the four apps in my review of the first book, I’ll just add a few things. This third volume is again exceptionally well done. The story is complex, mysterious, and difficult enough to keep you entertained for hours and hours. Each volume seems to get even better. This one is smart, well-written and incredibly enhanced compared to the original book. This is simply one the best mobile games I have ever played—and undoubtedly the best RPG game on a mobile platform I have ever seen. In fact, it’s the first mobile game I actually advised my friends to buy! As far as I am concerned, it should live in the top ten games in the Apple store.
Awful game based on those silly books from the 80s
Avoid at all costs - poor game play, very dull
Kinda weird but still p great
Like its way diff than the other 2 but it's gooooood
Disappointing
I love Inkle's games. They are some of my favorites not only as mobile games, but against my all time favorite games period. Sorcery! and Sorcery! 2 are phenomenal and I love the continuity between them. This game, however, is uninteresting, frustrating, and not at all compelling. I won't go so far as to tell people not to buy it, but I will say I'm very disappointed with it and wonder if number 4 can redeem it.
Interesting game
However, this story is way too short for the price. Might be nice to combine the many parts of the game
Horribly addictive
Masterfully built - astonishing.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I WAS AT THE LAST PART DEFEATED THE TIME SERPANT JUST ABOUT TO CROSS TO MAMPANG WHENE IT CRASHED NOW I CANT GET BACK ON IT PLEASE DONT MAKE ME RESTART. FIX THIS PLEASE!!!!!
These games are well thought out
But you need to think! Unfortunately some reviewers did not think through even the most basic instructions of the game. The punishment for this is built in and comes in the form of certain inabilities, such as rewinding effectively, or accessing eclectic locations. For people as these (you know who you are) the AppStore has other, more age appropriate games at competitive rates. Do check them out! Please join me in taking stars away until these slackers give us Sorcery4. Blink - just dropped to a 4 ...
Particulier
Il faut vraiment aimer le genre. Pas passionnat
Continued to crash
The game is fun, interesting, and challenges you to think. However, it crashes all the time, most of the time in the middle of a fight. I finally just gave up and continued on to game 4 without defeating all the serpents. Maybe I'll play again if they fix the bug, but until they do I'd skip this installment.
Engaging from start to finish
Another very impressive entry in the sorcery series of games. This episode adds a few new mechanics while continuing and refining the systems that work so well from previous versions. Crisp, compelling writing and fantastic worldbuilding make this an experience not to be missed.
Severely Dropped the Ball
I loved Inkle's stuff, but this one crashes a lot when you make choices. Yet to fix most of the many big problems. I waited weeks for them to fix a glitch that stranded me without a boat to finish the game with, and when they did, I couldn't kill all the dragons without it vanishing and losing all my stuff. They screwed this game up and I've lost all interest in the brand if future installments are gonna get this treatment. No idea how their previously stunning quality of product could go so sour.
Game is fun but needs some clean-up.
Typos in a text-based adventure. Yikes. While I enjoyed the narrative, the exploration process was rather tiresome; there was too much zooming in-and-out, and the character model moved a little on the slow side. I liked that there were different ways to destroy the Serpents--kept things interesting. The spellbook is useful but difficult to navigate; flipping through pages one by one is not an efficient way of finding the spell you need. I ended up ignoring the spellbook entirely in favour of testing out each spell combination in the constellations. These are all technical and rather nit-picky, though. The most important part of the game was the narrative, and I personally had a lot of fun figuring out different ways of defeating enemies and navigating conversations.
Empty & monotonous
I'm baffled by all the praise this installment has received and have to conclude that it is out of loyalty to the franchise rather than a sincere assessment of the game itself. Sorcery 3 is definitely one of the more tedious and aggravating games on the App Store. Did the developers test their product by actually playing it through? There's no point to anything - no point to spending gold on food as it is lost one or two turns later; no point in obtaining helpful items as they are lost or stolen one to two turns later, no point in making choices as the game will steer you where it wants you regardless. There is very little action and interaction, and much of ones times is spent walking, walking, walking, swimming. I should reveal that I did not actually finish the game; I was wasn't able to. If you die at a place where the "rewind" feature is not an option, then you you have to start from the beginning. That means hours and days of progress utterly wasted. The story unfolds too slowly and the intermittent rewards are too underwhelming to make restarting worthwhile. If you are on there fence about whether or not to play this latest installment, save your money.
Not as good as the first two
Sorcery! and Sorcery! 2 are great, but Sorcery! 3 really put all the great efforts to waste. Unlike the first two, this one features a lot of shoddy game design, such as secnarios where no matter what you choose the outcome is the same (and bad!) or the fact where you can only have one of two paths open, except one requires that the other is also open! The whole setting itself is also very lame, a near-barren wastleand for starts and several uneventful location points. Stick to the first to and stay away from this one.
Must get series
Please choose this adventure series, it's great
crashes way to regular
probably be a good game, if you could play it properly, unfortunately, it crashes and closes every five minutes and becomes so frustrating, you end up not bothering. if the developer brings any more games out, i certainly wont be buying them!
Love it and hate it
The object of the game is simple kill the seven serpents but I cannot pass the mountains separating you from the water serpent I have been playing the game for days (real days) and do not see any conceivable way of winning but the game is cool noneoftheless I suggest buying it after you play the first two and tip (watch out for the red eyes) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔪💣🔫🚷🚯🚳🚱📵🔞lol I died twice also ask someone who has won how to win
Little more than a text adventure
As described above. Graphically unexciting, battles static and dull, couldn't believe what I'd paid on an editors recommendation :(
Persistent Crashes
Glad the game is finally here but I think it will need a few bug fixes to make it a more stable game. Normally I wouldn't feel the need to reflect such issues in a review but it is becoming far more common, especially during Swindlestones.
Great Game
Don't listen to the 1, 2, 3, or even 4 stars. This is the best game I have ever played. The adventure and action mixed with the design is incredible. I have played and completed this game series twice already. However, get the bundle of the sworcery! games or it won't make sense.
Rewind system absolutely terrible
It's ok otherwise
Excellent!!! But not without some flaws.
If you're reading this and you have not played the first two games - stop what you are doing and get the first two games now. Just do it - they are amazing. TLDR - buy this game, it is extremely good. This iteration of the series adds some very cool time based gameplay. Also, the interface and interaction feel more polished than the previous games. Other reviews have said that this game feels empty compared to the prequels, but I disagree - the game just has a broader scope I think. It is an excellent game!!! If you liked the first two this one will not disappoint you.
Crashing
The game is amazing but the constant crashing and can suffer from many different problems from going into your inventory to just walking take away from it, and the animation of casting a spell shows the towers and their beams of light is a little odd and was not shown in the press demo. Also a game breaking bug where if you buy the fishermen's rowboat you can't encounter the water serpent.
Great, but....
Awesome follow-up to the last two. Only problem is that it crashes. A lot.
An App Based Game Worth Playing
Exceptional storytelling that keeps you enthralled choice after choice. An interactive fantasy narrative with all the classic ingredients you'd expect (magic, exciting swordplay, trolls, goblins, etc.) but with such a fresh uniqueness, I'm only disappointed that I've started with Sorcery 3 and not the first edition. Can't wait to go back and play the others! (And then the 4th!)
Awful
This game is one of the worst I have ever played. Absolutely do not waste any time or money here.
Fantastic but infrequently buggy
As per other reviews this is a fantastic little gem of a game. Crashes every now and then resulting on losing any item I've just obtained, but this is not frequent enough to ruin the fun
Disappointing
Had potential but after spending several hours of wandering in an attempt to cross the mountains, my interest has waned. Why can't this game be more accessible to first time players?
Pleeeease?
I've liked all the inkle games I've played, and have been waiting months for this game to come out. I was hoping it would be as good as the other games. Well, it is. Sort of. The constant crashing really takes away from the gameplay. Please please pleeeease fix this!
Love this series!
I find myself thinking about Sorcery! all the time. An amazing series that pulls you into its world and story.
Sorcery 3
This was a waste of money. I made a move the had me die but there isn't any option to start the game over, I'm dead and can't do anything else in the game. I want a refund.
1 thing..
This is a great game, but since this update, the game takes longer to process decisions and occasionally will crash. Other than that - it's great
Great but crashes
Enjoying the game but it crashes very frequently on my iPad 2
Can't play
My game crashes when the loading screen finishes so I can't play plz fix this problem
Really fun
Really fun, and detailed!
Unplayable on an iPad mini
Unfortunately, the current version of this game is unplayable on an iPad mini. I'm getting a repeatable CTD every time I attempt to click on the items or spell book icons (which are vital for play). I'll update this review if and when this issue is patched. Updated review: Well, we got a patch promising improvements to the iPad mini performance. Unfortunately that patch made it so that the CTD happens on game start, every single time. The game works on my 5s, so it seems to be a processor issue. The game should state up front that its incompatible with the original iPad mini.
Brilliant, occasionally frustrating
Like Sorcery 1 & 2 but more so. Challenging, frustrating, entertaining in equal measure. And the time shift mechanic is genius. If only I could work out how to get through to the end....
Crash
Every Time i fight the air serpent the game crashes. Needs to be fixed asap
