I started playing Severed many years ago, way back in 2017. I was traveling a lot for work then and it was one of my go to games. I breezed through most of the game but got stuck near the end. Now in 2026 for some reason I saw it pop up when I got a new iPad. I decided to revisit it and while it took a few tries to get back into it, I am very glad I did. I completed the game, which ended up being a long time coming! I am very pleased with the overall experience. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a great, memorable gaming experience.

Not supported on iPhone 12
Bought this game due to the unique art style and gameplay, however, it has many issues such as not spanning the full screen, strange flickering towards the bottom of the screen and additionally the game does not output any audio! I can get past the game not utilising the full screen, but no sound and the strange flickering? Please fix at least these issues and I will update my review, otherwise if you own an iPhone 12 I recommend avoiding until they update it.
A flawed gem
Story was executed really well even though there hardly any story at all. Downside is that it’s very short ,clunky and repetitive combat, though it’s premise is creative and unique compare to the market out there. If the devs can improve or better yet create something on a larger scale with larger budgets. I’m gladly to pay the big bucks.
Doesn’t work for IPhone X or higher
The game is really good but on iPhone that doesn’t have a home button the game look horrible and the game play is really bad I have played this game on many devices like ps vita, 3ds and a ipad all of those devices played the game perfectly fine but on my iPhone 11 pro max the game doesn’t use doesn't center the picture in the middle of the screen it moves all the way to the right and sometimes the game starts glitching in a way that I can’t even leave any menus like the map and the pause screen also on the start screen the start bottom is placed on the swipe up line to close/ leave apps so it was really hard to start the game hopefully we can get an update to fix this game because it is a really good game —— I tried the game on 3 iPhone 11 pro max it had the same issues
Not average, all highs and lows
This is basically infinity blade gone Metroidvania. Which it does very well. Combat is tense and difficult without being frustrating, and had a good difficulty curve throughout. Leveling up and exploration are also done great. The story is sparse but powerfully told. I found the last hour to be a bit of a grind, but it held me easily for most of the game. The bad? Blood. Chopping body parts. You collect heart pieces to increase your health, but then actually eat the heart. There is mutilation and giblets all over this game. I hate it. I hate it. Game was good enough that I muscled through, but would never play again or recommend.

Genre is not what I usually go for in a game (I have poor reflexes and don’t find fighting as fun). However, totally loved this game. The story, atmosphere, backgrounds and more than anything the awesome monster designs were absorbing.

Good game but
I love the art and story of the game and the only reason I gave it 3 stars..The game was easy to minimize while slashing on iPhone XR. I would be in mid counter attack and if I slashed a little too far I’d be on the home screen.

Looks like it could be an interesting game, but I wouldn’t recommend until there’s controller support, maybe this game was intended for the iPhone I tried it on an iPad Pro 12.9

Modern Dungeoncrawler
Well designed for mobile, engaging real-time combat and a killer aesthetic. A decent amount of content, too. As far as improvements, I would recommend: -An explicit save feature, so that players know where they’ll return when they exit the game -More assets. A lot of rooms begin to feel the same after just a short amount of play. -Auto-walk through straight passages. It’s annoying to have to tap multiple times to navigate a single room when there’s nothing to stop for.

All I want to do is to feed my bird friend
I haven't finished the game yet so I don't know if there is an actual opportunity to do it, but I really only want to give the two-headed-bird-thing some giblets, he's helped me so much!! I The game has beautiful graphics, an easy to learn and easy to use battling style, an amazing story line, and original characters, but I'm only giving this four stars because I have yet to come across an option to feed some giblets to my bird friend.
Boring puzzles, fights can be interesting
The puzzles are painfully obvious, linear and time consuming. You can only ever go to one place and that's where you need to be to unlock the next door or whatever. Fights can be good, juggling three or four enemies at once, but a lot of the difficulty comes from the controls. Ending is a total cop out.

I first downloaded this game in middle school and LOVED the art style and gameplay but wasn’t able to 100% it. revisiting it a few years later, the puzzles and exploration aspects are so much fun. Trying to find all of the secrets on the map is tedious, sure, but it feels super rewarding when you finally get everything. The puzzles are very forgiving if you mess something up and generally easy enough to figure out without a guide. There are a lot of different types of puzzles too, which is nice. I’m seeing a lot of people complaining in the reviews about the combat system in standard mode as well, but as someone who picked it up yesterday for the first time in 3+ years almost none of the battles gave me an issue. They are (at least a little bit) strategy based, but they're all easy enough, even without using the blind or rage attacks. You just gotta get the hang of the timing and pay attention to the attack indicators. The story is pretty good and the visuals are amazing. The art style isn't really one I've seen very often in games and the whole game really feels like a work of art. You can tell how much love went into making this game. All the monster designs are great, the way sasha's appearance changes as you progress is great, the room designs are amazing, i could go on and on about how much i love the art in this game. anyways its a 10/10 game i would highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a fun, beautiful, 4-5 hour game.

총평: 던전탐험+인피니티블레이드 느낌. 몹들 죽이다보면 나오는 재료들로 능력강화하고 그냥 보스 죽이다보면 끝납니다. 퍼즐 요소 꽤있는데 이게 신선하지도 않고 단순해서 별로인데 귀찮게 되게 많아요. 스토리는 너무 함축적이로 뭔지모르겠음. 말이 함축적이지 별로 스토리에 신경을 안쓴것 같습니다 없어요 기대 ㄴㄴ. p.s.감기때문에 병가내고 할짓없어서 하루종이 붙잡고 깼습니다. 난이도 쉬움으로 하다가 일반으로 바꿨는데 좀 짜증났지만 할만했네요.
Drinkbox, I love you!
This is not my first time to finish severed. I bought it at launch on ps vita and I freaking loved it! Now, almost 7 years later I bought it and finished it on my iPhone. Everything was as I remember - addicting gameplay, macabre story, recognizable drinkbox visuals and pleasant sounds, domain theme loops. If anyone needs great fix of old school dungeon crawlers with great addicting swipe combat mechanic, this is the go to game. I wished the game was longer. That was my only critique them and it is now. Nevertheless, this is my favorite game alongside Guacamelee and Nobody saves the world. Looking forward to playing your next game guys!!!

Nice game, locations and puzzles get a bit repetitive after a while as do the enemies. Worth the discounted price 2.99, not sure id be happy to pay the full price. Has some moments of brilliance, but overall not amazing.
Overpriced and Overrated
Slow, dull and repetitive. This game doesn’t bring anything new to the table, and doesn’t do anything better than current (and cheaper) titles are already doing. I can’t believe I was persuaded into paying for this trash by all the critical acclaim. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Not sure what the rave reviews are for. Pretty simple and boring adventure game. Combat is repetitive and shallow, the graphics basic and garish. Been a very poor year for iPad games.

Got this due to reviews and awards. Don't bother....pretty juvenile and gets repetitive and boring pretty quick. Only reason for two stars are the graphics are pretty good. Disappointing overall.
