The best social group for 50+
I’ve been a member of Stitch for around 4 years and I absolutely love being part of the group! ❤️ I’ve joined so many different activities, met some lovely people and made some great friends along the way. There’s always something to look forward to, and I’ve had so many fun and happy moments. Stitch is my little escape from everyday stress — a place where I can relax, have fun, laugh and just enjoy life. 💃😊 I’m really happy I joined and would highly recommend Stitch to anyone who wants to meet new people, make friends and have fun!
Only use if completely retired
Yes, they allow people in their 50s to join, but this will only be useful if you are completely retired or 65 and up and retired it is not for people who are still working and they give no hint of that so it feels really deceiving… pretty useless if not retired
Not a dating site
I have been so turned off by dating sites and the plethora of scammers and the lack of response to messages that I decided to try something new. Stitch allows you to visit with people far and wide and to chat with them. There are many people from Australia and New Zealand where Stitch originated as well as the US. There are Discussions, and Activities (real and virtual), private messaging, etc. Maybe you’ll find your someone or maybe not. You will be welcomed into conversations with interesting people.
Room for Improvement with Respect
Stitch is a wonderful concept & is well run & fun. There are some areas for improvement. Those hosting events must understand how to & avoid inviting unsuitable members. Also, if there is inappropriate behaviour reported to a host, support must be provided to those who suffered, as well as reporting by host. Unacceptable behaviour needs to be handled much better by Stitch. Bullying & threats need zero tolerance. Trying to convince Stitch to remove members showing these behaviours has been extremely difficult. In some cases, it hasn’t even happened sadly. And why are there members still hosting events who have been reported for their abusive behaviour? There is much room for improvement and I would love to see it happen.
Why won’t it open
Such a disappointment it downloads but it won’t open not at all impressed gonna I delete 👎🏾

I absolutely love being involved with Stitch . Over the years I have met some amazing new people that I enjoy meeting up with very much . Also this site allows you to visit cafes/ venues/ beach walks etc with new friends that otherwise you’d never would have discovered 😃 If you’re thinking about joining up but you’re unsure. I say take the leap you have nothing to loose but plenty to gain 🎉💯🥳
Poor design, interlink within app between pages weak
The app and admin folks are poor. I enjoy the stitch group I am part of, however, when I texted Scott about an issue, he basically replied, not my job. Didn’t forewarn the issue to the developer or admins, just said I needed to reach out to some unknown admin weenie and that he wasn’t involved with the webpage app design or functions. Very lame. The app doesn’t flow well internally between pages, and finding activities can be a challenge. The external links and notifications are inconsistent in functionality. Because they red flag any person sending personal information, I have gotten in trouble with the site admin. They want people to connect, but only thru their site which is bulky. I use group chats in WhatsApp, with people I’ve met thru stitch because it is much easier to communicate and stay in touch. Again, I enjoy the group I connected with, but the CEO, admin folks, and app support staff are weak, hence the one star. I’m sure that this review will get me flagged again as the CEO just published a message to give it 5 star reviews because the 1 star reviews they get are fake or from non subscribers. That should tell him that the the site isn’t friendly to first time user, and subscribers just put up with the ridiculous stream app issues. Instead he blows off negative reviews as fake. Just like he blew me off when I reached out to him.
Mss
Its only natural we have a sway , in ups and downs when socialising although generally its what we make of stitch that counts You are doing a wonderful Job with all that you do Andrew
Not sure yet but ....
Seems like the typical dating racists and monogamists out there. Oh and I started getting loads of spam since if dined up too. I can’t really blame the app entirely. For that but I am generally not impressed with what you get with the free non-subscription. Sorry but NOTHING is enticing me to want to subscribe. 😟 Hope your user base in NYC grows some day. Thx anyway and I’m glad that SOMEONE is looking out for the over 50s 👍🏾
Decisions, decisions!!!
I was introduced to Stitch by an American woman trapped over here during COVID. Since I’ve joined Stitch, I’ve met interesting, fun people, made good friends, been introduced to different places, a plethora of events and new, often hilarious experiences. It has been a joy and a lifesaver. I have a wide circle of friends but with stitch that circle has expanded exponentially. You get out of it what you put into it. So it’s a case of what can I do this ….. decisions, sessions. Try Stitch you won’t be disappointed. 😀🥰
Privacy violated before I even used the app
EDIT: thank you for the response. I will leave my review at 1 star because almost nothing in this app intended for connection between people is available without putting up a payment. Non-profit or no, private or no, it's too difficult to use this service to even determine whether it's worth the money. ORIGINAL: I haven't got more spam in years than I did in the 4 days after I downloaded this app. I didn't even use the same email for my registration as I do for my App Store account. Either there was a crazy coincidence in the world of spam email, or this app is to blame.
Stitch
Connections, meet n greet in whatever location, context or event that suits you. So many to choose from to experiment till you feel your vibe and meet your people. Do as much or as little. You’ll be welcomed by fellow stitchers. Give it a go. Lifesaver for so many in our beautiful city.
BIG MISTAKE....save your money.
I debated whether to pay the expense membership fee for a couple of days but ultimately decided it would be worth it to meet people my age who have been "verified". But was I mistaken. There are very few people located in my area nor are there any activities close enough to join for socializing. And to add to my disappointment, after submitting my email address for membership I immediately started getting spam, several email messages a day now. I'm certain it's from the membership application process and highly recommend NOT joining!!!
Love stitch
After retiring I was looking for things to do and to meet new people. Stitch has met both of those goals, I have tried new things and met some lovely people.
Deceptive marketing tactics
First you sign up and build a profile. Then they tell you that you need to be verified. Once you do what they say to verify, then they tell you it could take up to 24 hours to verify you. During that time you are waiting to be verified, you can search activities in your area. A bunch will show up unlocked (the ones you can do for free without joining). In my area the ones I could access free were mixed virtual and in person. I clicked on 3 meals out, 1 coffee outing, and one take a walk outing that were all unlocked. You get excited about meeting people face to face. Then you get the “You’re Verified” email. Yay! Then you go back in the app and guess what? All the in person ones are now locked or gone, and only virtual ones remain like learn to crochet??!!!! This is a marketing SCAM to bait you, hook you, and get you to join.
Convenient
It’s a great tool to find people in your area.
Positive Experiences
Wonderful way to meet people and develop new friendships. My local group is very active with numerous events being posted regularly. Strongly recommend as a way to expand your social life.
Messy
I’m curious about something. Do you guys actually use your own app? You don’t see anything wrong with it? I don’t think this app is user friendly at all. Any time I want to find an event I have to scroll through a million virtual events to get to what I want. Why don’t you guys separate those from the rest? There are a lot more issues with this app which I don’t have the energy to get into. I keep thinking you will do more updates to fix all the problems but you guys rarely do updates. I don’t get it. My advice is to USE your own app to realize what the problems are.
Motivational App!
I was looking to make friends with like- minded 50+ people but don’t have a wide inter-personal network. I am also am interested in friendship and steer away from dating sites. (Frankly, they turn me off because they make one feel like a commodity.) A quick web search brought Stitch up and I decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised! The Stitch community is 50+ with a balanced amount of people in their 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. And while some are looking to date, the majority I found are truly interested in friendship. So far, everyone I’ve met through Stitch has been respectful, kind, thoughtful, interesting, and just really nice. The admin staff is not difficult to contact and get a quick response from. In fact, the “face” of Stitch, Andrew, is approachable and down-to-earth. It’s easy to create and join groups, events, discussions, and contact other members of the community - and the community is spread over a few countries. There are even incentives to get involved and a program to help more members feel welcome and part of the community. I just have one comment if improvement is possible - when I receive an email message that someone has replied to my comment in a discussion, when I click the link in the email to go to the discussion, it takes me to the latest comment and I have to scroll quite a bit to find the reply. It would be helpful if the link could take me right to the reply. Other than that, Stitch is a positive and refreshingly enjoyable experience! I recommend it to the mature and discerning person truly looking to be part of a special community.
Stitch over 50’s social group
I’ve met some lovely like-minded people through Stitch and enjoyed many great outings, from theatre and music to social gatherings and much more. It’s a great way to stay connected, have fun and make new friendships. Highly recommend giving Stitch a try! 😊
Avoid at all costs
Horrible experience and a total waste of money. Don’t bother putting information in about the type of person you’d like to meet. I’m 65 and had geriatric men in their late 70s message me. Men shorter than me. Men with disabilities. Stitch ignores your preferences. Then the activities are horrible. Mainly women. Plus these women are nasty. High school mean girls. Very clicky as they’ve made friends earlier so you’re not in their groups. The same men keep going to the activities so you’ve got no chance of meeting anyone new.
Stitch Adds Value
I joined Stitch about a year after I retired when I saw an article in Ask Amy about Stitch and its goal to address the epidemic of loneliness in older adults. I was also considering trying online dating and felt this was a safe way to see what it might be like. Eight years later, with a brief absence, after which I rejoined Stitch, its value has grown. I gradually participated in discussion groups which offers the opportunity to meet people from around the world. Unlike other online sites the atmosphere is welcoming and self-monitored to make the experience positive. I have never attended an in-person event due to various factors, but during the pandemic the opportunities to meet online in the virtual world exploded and I met several members which was very welcome when we were avoiding public activities. Some groups have posted online dance parties, yoga, book discussions, weekly Zoom chats, games played online and so on. Although it is not a dating site per se, you can indicate if you are looking for romantic relationships, there have been several marriages and partnerships that have developed over long distances. Members have shared their stories of how they met and progressed to connect in person. I do not know of any dating site that operates the way Stitch does. You can try Stitch before you join and I would encourage you to do so. There is a wealth of online guidance on how to navigate the site successfully.
So many great activities!
Love that there’s so many different kinds of events to choose from! Have met some wonderful new friends along the way too. Life is so much brighter with Stitch so thank you!
Need to improve the app functionality
This is the most tedious to use social app I’ve ever seen. The search functionality is limited meaning you get meaningless results, for events/activities you have to add them to your calendar manually, if you choose an activity to be invited to or waitlisted, as soon as you make the request and try to go back to full list you start at the beginning again. You get bombarded with email after email for simple things like someone else is interested in a group that you like. I could go on and on. Development team, why don’t you start doing some user experience feedback sessions and make this app easier to use? After all it is a paid app.
Have you heard of the Stitch Community yet?
If not, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Stitch is a unique online community (not a dating site, but I suppose it can be) that I discovered some months ago and joined up. It's designed to help bring people together for virtual/in-person get-togethers to meet fellow Stitchers but is much more. There are many, many groups on a variety of topics and discussion boards that are very active. This week I decided to step outside my comfort zone and create my own event (Stitch makes that so easy!) to invite a group to join me for coffee Friday morning. Their message is they want to cure loneliness, and I think they've created a fantastic model to do just that. Check it out.
Give it a go!
I have been a member of Stitch for a number of years and I can honestly say it’s a great way to meet new people and make lots of friends. It’s also great to learn new things and new places whether it’s new venues or new pastimes. Don’t be shy, give it a go!
☹️
Continual error loading.
Stitch
No, not as some think a group for sewing enthusiasts! I first heard of Stitch when I lived in the US, but I was moving so didn’t follow up. On arriving in the UK, I suddenly remembered and joined, but then got busy, so, like many people I didn’t do anything with them for ages. Thank goodness for email!! I got an email inviting me to something and that really was the start of something big:) I’m outgoing and love to organise so became a Community Champion so I could get to know people and do things. Stitch is big in Australia where it started, and also in the States. We want it to be equally big here, but we need YOU!! Have to say that it has been a godsend during the Covid lockdown. I had just moved to a new town and didn’t know a soul, now I know people from Australia and the States, but not only that, I’ve met - virtually - people from Peru, Hungary, Africa and elsewhere who live in those countries! There are groups covering all sorts of interesting topics, discussion groups that sometimes make your hair curl...lol, and help when you need it. If you’re looking for something new, fun and here in the UK, come check us out and expand your circle.
A new life!
I joined Stitch about 5 years ago to be able to do walks and some other activities in a group. Well ….since then it has exploded and I’m busy all the time, whether doing activities or socialising with new friends!
App doesn’t work
The app just gives me gives me an error loading message anytime I attempt to open it.
Cannot set up account — all good now!
Update: Tech support guru Jay and Founder Andrew were super helpful - turns out I had signed up years ago and forgot. They have strict security protocols and explained the mysterious error message I received was intentional as a way to deter hackers. I haven’t had time to really participate yet but Stitch is expanding their reach and it sounds timely and interesting. Many thanks for the great customer service! Saw Stitch on TV. Tried to set up acct on my PC and my iPad using the app Can’t do it. No guidelines for password syntax are offered. Keeps giving me error msg. I’m an expert internet user. No tech support menu and not covered in FAQs.
Stitch
New friends , new experiences , don’t sit home alone come and join us
Not worth my money or time
After reading the 5star comments, i gave this App a try, after paying $US180 so I didn’t have to pay for the exclusive features. What a waste. I joined two conversations i probably could have done on a Facebook group free, and i joined one live event, which was probably free as well on Meetup. Save your money and time. Don’t get it.
Started ok, but...
I joined Stitch 2 years ago. Found it on advertising in my Facebook page. Met a few people from my area and some not so close, made some friends. Even had the pleasure to meet the founder, Andrew during a trip to Australia. Lovely gentleman. Unfortunately had to deactivate my membership. Not worth it anymore. No advertising in my area, resulting in no members or activities. All my local friends left Stitch after the first year. Great concept but no way to keep it going globally. If they ever become popular in my area I would rejoin.
