My Favorite Word Game!
Spell Color remains my favorite word game! One of the best features is that it can show word-definitions after the game is completed. For example, I sometimes jam letters together, just on chance, and find I’ve actually spelled something. When the game ends, on the final tally page, I can tap an icon along the top, see every word I found, AND see that mystery-word’s definition. I can send a copy of the definition to myself and even hear it the word pronounced, so I might remember it later. •••This makes it one of the few word games I’ve discovered that has a word-LEARNING option built right in.••• Notably, it also has a far broader vocabulary than some New York Times word-games I also play. And since there’s no timer on this game, there’s no sense of pressure to rush through it. Bravo! I can relax! EXCELLENT!
Why the ads?
This was a great game until the ads, I’m removing it from my iPad.
In my top 5 favorite word games
I love this game with the exception of it rejecting any words over 6 letters. That gets VERY frustrating and I can think of no reason for it. Other than that, it’s a good challenge and a great way to pass time.
Not great
It’s easy enough to complete grids but if you want a high word score from a single grid you have to deliberately avoid completing it so that you can get more words. The problem with that is that the grid is so large that the number of possible words is enormous. In the end the game just isn’t challenging.
Great App with limited dictionary
The app is great - a simple ingenious game that remains interesting no matter how often you play it. One major drawback however. The dictionary/word list running in the background is quite limited. Many every day words are not recognised as valid words while many obscure words are included. There are even words where the plural is accepted but the singular is not in the dictionary. This can be quite frustrating. Otherwise an excellent app.
Spell color is great!
It is easy to move on the board. I love the No Ads coming up after each game. Perfect for me.
Good game
Fun to play
Could be great but no variety
I keep getting the same 10 or so grids over and over again.
Please more puzzles!
I’ve managed to complete all the puzzles available in the least amount of words I can make but I’m beginning to have them memorized. New puzzles would be amazing!
Addicting!
Love this game, gave it 4 stars because they need to expand the dictionary. There are so many words they do not accept.
SPELL COLOR REVIEW
Great help for word recognition, however should have someway of showing you many words you don’t know and come up with while playing so that you might expand vocabulary,
Love this game
No timer, but challenging. Creative gameplay too. Not just more of the same old word games.
Replaces DropWords which I surely miss
Great way to push yourself to see words. Often you will find the same word elsewhere in the grid and it won’t allow it but try for new endings or add re ahead of a word or at the end.Short words work and try lots of small words to add to the count!
Good
Good
Best Offline Game
This is the best offline game to past the time while waiting or going to bed, or when you don’t have cellular or WiFi.
Fun
Not too hard but challenging. Plus the more you play you learn to be more creative and nonlinear
More Puzzles Please!
I’ve been playing for years and have done these puzzles many times. I’m going to have to go elsewhere if you don’t send new puzzles. I agree that it is a peaceful game and a great way to kind of “unplug” from a hectic day. I wanted to suggest another way to mix things up and challenge yourself is to complete puzzle in as few words as possible. It’s fun to see “how low you can go”! It’s easy to finish in 90+ words but it is a lot harder to finish in say 68 or 70 words! It makes a great game even better!
Fun Game, but
A fun game, but it limits you to words 6 letters or shorter, and does not seem to have a lot of common words in its dictionary. But still fun to play.
I love this game (literally)
I have a crush on this game.
Good but not great
The game is fun and unique. It would be much better, though, if it showed you your score and/or showed you your top scores, or some kind of statistics. The game itself though is good.
Great app
I enjoy finding words on my own.
Spell color now has ads!
This was a great game but the addition of advertisements ruined it!
