Do Not Buy All-Access Pack
(1) You don’t get access (2) Apple won’t refund even though you raise the issue
Good but questionable problem rankings
The app is good but it sometimes thinks easy problems are hard or hard problems are easy. Today for example the easy daily problems were harder than both medium and one of the hard ones.
Incorrect problems
I don’t know if anyone else has this problem but some of the problems that appear on the new problems page are incorrect. When I figure out the problem such that it says solved, I would continue with white and I don’t see a way for the problem to be solved for black. Not sure what that’s about, and pretty annoying
Great Problems!
I am just beginning to learn Go and these puzzles have given me a lot more intuition for good play. The apps works great and the interface is friendly
Not for beginners, not helpful at all
I don’t understand what I’m supposed to be learning from this. Basically it shows your position, and you guess, and either you guessed right, or you keep getting it wrong until you finally hit the enter button. And you repeat that until suddenly it says “solved“ without telling you what about what you’re seeing is solved. It sure doesn’t look solved to me. I don’t know what I’m supposed to be learning from this, but I’m not learning anything.
Good app but needs explanation
I am just starting to learn this game, but I wish they would add an explanation when you get a move wrong.
Not for beginners
No explanations or tutorials, frequent pop-ups demanding reviews.
Decent - room for improvement
Interface works well, but some niggles. In progress mode, if you accidentally skip you can’t then go back. In progress mode even if you have multiple problem sets selected it will still loop over a very small subset indefinitely. Even with 1 set selected it won’t cover it all. Then with some of the problems there are alt solutions that aren’t recognised and no way or reporting. And one or two solutions that are wrong. With all that said, it’s still a decent buy IMO as not found better.
Great for daily problems
Great for daily Go problems. I think it’s an Apple thing, but I wish the game mode notification wouldn’t pop up every time you start the app.
THE APP IS WRONG
Idiotic app says actual checkmate moves are "wrong". Never explains why. So stupid.
Good practice but why?
I very much agree with goodtutor’s review. I like the daily problems and the right or wrong feedback. The app is very clean and an appealing space to solve problems. However, it would be so very nice if there was some sort of feedback on why a problem reaches the “solved” state. I do think the app is useful “as is” to learn patterns in the game. It does enable the user to learn to recognize given patterns and associated responses. I also like that additional possible actions are considered. Each problem is designed to lead you down the best path, but you can take alternative actions that help the user understand possible outcomes.
not user friendly, unimpressed
it has potential to be a good app, but the instructions are pretty much non-existent and the “easy” level is considered difficult by my friend who has been playing for quite a while
너무좋아요
❤️❤️❤️
Stimulate thinking
I love solving it every morning. Great app!
Purchases do not work
I purchased extra problems and they never appeared. The restore purchase button does not work. The app has not been updated in years so maybe the developer has abandoned it.
Good for beginners
It’s easy to play and learn.
How do you play
I love problem solving games. However this game doesn’t have the simplest directions of how to play
Solid
Nice enough interface, plenty of puzzles, barebones. Agree with other reviews that I could use a little more than a “correct” sometimes, e.g. when the answer is seki: I’m usually pretty sure it’s supposed to be seki, but it would be nice to get a confirmation. Or “your solution is seki, but it’s possible to live/kill.”
Review
Very good go app. It would be able to quickly train your life and death skills. Other than that it trains your tsumego and tesuji skills.
No explinations
No explanation on how to use the app, and what the info supplied means. Also no explanation on why a move was right or wrong. Not recommended for a beginner like me.
Looking for parity with android version
I love this app. But android users can turn on labels for board coordinates. This hinders analysis of the puzzles and discussions with other enthusiasts. The interface is otherwise great, and the puzzles at different levels are excellent and nicely sorted. Occasionally it isn’t clear why a solution is solved, especially when seki or draw is the goal. But otherwise the app is a delight!
Instructions would be nice
I have no idea how to play this. I’m glad this is for 4+ years because I can’t figure it out.
Pay to play
I like the daily puzzles but only 150 starting puzzles isn’t enough
Tsumego Pro ! ✨
Great way to learn life or death as a beginner
Stop asking me to rate your app!
Basically only giving this one star because the app keeps asking me every-single-day to review it. Fine. You get one star for annoying me.
Great for Go Learners
Go puzzles are great but just too few
Needs explanations
I don’t learn I’m simply satisfying the sequences that the game wants if after I get it all right, I play it out and can’t find a winning scenario.
Learning go
I do not understand whe question button. When you do a problem, you press the question button so it will give you a hitn, then a red dot appears on a point, but when you press the dot it says ‘wrong.’

What Am I Doing?
Whatever move I make, it’s either wrong or there’s no response. I don’t know what I’m doing right or why what I’m doing is wrong. This is terrible for beginners.
Agree with all points in "goodtutor" review
And I will add that if the app explained WHY the move is right or wrong, it would be priceless. Go has not been easy for me to learn in spite of a decent proficiency at chess. Explanations would help me improve significantly.
Not for beginners
I wish it helped me understand why or why not a move is correct. You must learn how to play elsewhere, the app does not explain
Decent practice, far from great
For a free app that provides daily baduk (go) puzzles, this isn’t bad. But a few things. If you’re not already familiar with the rules of baduk, then this won’t be for you as there’s no explanations on how to solve the puzzles or why you’re wrong. Second, all too often I’m given a puzzle that has more than one solution, but the app will only consider one correct. Third, often times the “correct” solution requires the opponent to make specific moves that don’t make much sense. And forth, sometimes the solution the game says is correct is not a solution at all. My stones are still unsettled and can become dead depending on the next move your opponent makes. This, this app assumes you’ll be playing morons. But, not all the practices are bad, I’d say only 1 out of 5 actually has the above issues. And did I mention its free with no ads? So, 3 stars for me.
insane
love it
Purchased but didn't receive content. no reply on emails.
Would have preferedd to sort this out via email, but alas have not been receiving responses for weeks now.
very solid!
great app with great problems and accurate solutions AND variations. my one issue is that the progress mode tends to pull from a surprisingly limited selection of problems in those available. i.e., if i select all the available problem sets for progress mode, i really only tend to see a subset of what i select. if that could be fixed, i would rerate to 5 stars
Not sure what the point is
I dont understand how this app improves your go game. The puzzles are solved by trial and error and I rarely understand what the objective of any given puzzle is. Am I trying to capture a string? Prevent eye formation? Occasionally the "solution" to a puzzle doesnt appear to be advantageous at all.
One account?
I have the paid version on Android but with no account system I can’t even load my purchase on iOS
Perfect Little App
Clean and lightweight app. No bloat or pushy pay-to-play features, and I really like that it lets you play out scenarios after you've solved or failed a puzzle to figure out why.
❌wrong
That’s all It’ll tell you when you Make a wrong move and then if you make a correct move all it does is allow you to keep going. It doesn’t tell you what you did wrong, doesn’t tell you what the correct move was or why it was correct. You just literally have to keep guessing, makes no sense. I’m not able to learn anything! No explanation! No help! Oh don’t bother pressing the ? In the bottom right corner because it’s just there for show leads nowhere. waste. of. time.
Overall great app, especially once you know some basic strategy
Overall, this is a great app. I was recently introduced to Go, and this is a great way to practice. I appreciate the app includes multiple ways that a player can approach the problem. The app would get five stars, if it included a little information about the principles of Go and why one solution is correct and the other solutions are not. Now that I have done some more research into basic Go principles, I am able to get a lot more out of the practice problems. Overall, great app! Thank you!
Huh?
First of all how do I play? This is weird second if you can play with your family how? Third this is confusing and can you say instead of saying wrong can you say nice try? Because maybe you are new and you don’t get it? This app is a money grabber you have to pay to get. more levels and there is only like 6 levels for free! Lol
Instructions?
NO idea how this is supposed to work. “Wrong” move. “Solved”. Huh? No explanation or even instructions on how to use the app that I could find.
Ok
Ok
No good for beginners
It does not tell you the rules of go or allow you to play a game from the beginning. This app is a waste of time for beginners
Great practice
This is a great way to get the gears turning on GO every day. I wish there was something explanatory about why is says certain moves are “wrong” or “right” or “solved,” but for free it’s a good base!
Not very helpful
The problems are very vague and there’s no explanation as to what solved means. While I’m sure some could find enjoyment out of this app, I think simply playing go matches would be a better way to advance one’s skills
Good, BUT...
Love this app, BUT the bookmark function doesn’t work properly. It bookmarks problems then won’t do any new ones. Is there an upper limit?
